I have to admit i'm not a Van Halen Fan really, I know a few of their songs and they're okay, but nothing special.

This is the classic rock thread, idiot. It isn't the pit. None of that flame stuff is allowed in here. So kindly take it outside. It's disruptive and brings the thread off topic.

Besides, miik has more popularity here than you. :smash:

I got into classic rock by listening to my dads old records. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, The Velvet Underground, The Who, The Doors, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Van Morrison, The Jimi Hendrix Expierence, Black Sabbath and many many more. I credit these bands for introducing me the to music at a young age. Most of the bands that come out today say they are influced by rock gods such as Zep but how can they really say that when they only play pop punk or something like techno? I agree with those of you who want to hear a new band that actually sounds classic and gets back to the realy roots of rock n roll.

Paranoidd 08-30-2004 02:05 PM

What the hell is "something like techno"?

HoTPiNk 08-30-2004 02:11 PM

I love classic rock. I got into it mostly because my mom and dad always listen to it. When I was younger, though, I thought it wasn't cool, and my parents always said I'd learn to appreciate it. I haven't just learned to appreciate it, I love it. I have a record player in my room and I listen to all these old albums, it's cool.

I'm going to Alice Cooper in October with my mom, it shall be a grand time.

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2004 02:23 PM

^same, to your first paragraph and to your second.

:amaze:

HoTPiNk 08-30-2004 02:39 PM

You're going with your mom??

thelizardkingcc 08-30-2004 03:01 PM

Yeah, uhh sorry about the posts last night, I was in a severe beliggerent drunken rage, but I still dont like Miik or respect his opinions.

Back to The Who however, someone said that Moon was the "original crazy drummer," when it was definitely John Bonham. In Drummer Magazine like 6 months ago they had an article on Bonham, and they directly said that before he started playing hard and heavy, other drummers had attempted it and just sounded like crap, but after he showed drummers how to play hard and skillfully, Moon came along and started the same style, so they said that Moon was the second drummer to do it well. I dont dislike the Who, as I previously indicated in my drunken blathering, but I honestly do think they are extremely overrated. They have their moments, and are a talented band, but they didnt produce enough good music to be considered one of the best.

Paranoidd 08-30-2004 03:10 PM

That's odd...Zeppelin formed in 1968. The Who had at least four albums out by that time.

cutmyhair 08-30-2004 03:12 PM

Keith was doing it pretty early, though
back when the who were the high numbers he played crazily

thelizardkingcc 08-30-2004 03:12 PM

Hmm, well I still have the magazine, and I know what I read. Was Moon's drumming as hard then as it was in their later albums?

Paranoidd 08-30-2004 03:14 PM

Well...yeah. I dunno, thats pretty weird. Maybe the mag is just off. It happens.

Moon couldn't even play drums. He didn't keep a set where he lived. Every time they recorded they had to wait a few days for him to re-learn.

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2004 03:37 PM

"No, I'm going with YOUR mom"
