My speakers still don't work and it's killing me.

I've decided I'm going to learn the entire The Times They Are a-Changin' album on guitar, that way when people ask me to play something...I'll start playing and singing something like Ballad of Hollis Brown and I won't stop until it's over. That'll shut them up. I'm sick and tired of people saying "Play Stairway to Heaven!" then listening to about ten seconds before going "Let's hear Tears in Heaven!" which is cut off quickly by something along the lines of "Do you know Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

God damn that makes me angry!

Pink Freud...are you sure it isn't Dylan Thomas? That'd be awesome if we got to study Bob Dylan, I've used his lyrics for various analyses and assignments, but we've never studied him as a class.
I hate that. It has to be something really passionate and brooding so that they would be afraid to say "hey OMG play Stairway!". That would be great

PinkFreud- Quitting smoking would be a good idea. You might end up quitting later in your life, but you could do it now and save all of the money/lung tissues to waste on weed. :p The cost factor doesn't seem to be something that my friends considered when they picked it up
I'm sure you've heard all of this a million times before

EDIT: I can relate to you now, thick. I just realised someone replaced my beautiful speakers with a couple of tin can pieces of crap. I wonder where they went

I don't make the right choices sometimes. :-/

I had some horrible luck today aswell. I left my backpack in the gym today and these 2 Mexicans went though my stuff and took my CD case that had 25 of my CD's inside. They looked though them and went over to a former friend (who hates me now) and they said "Hey you want some Rock CD's?" He looked through them and saw American Beauty and realized they were mine. When I looked through my backpack they were gone asked they coach what he could do and he just yells out and see if anyone would give them up. I wait for awhile pissed, scared and panicing and the only person I'm afraid of in the school calls me over. He said he had my CD's and wants to burn them all. I still don't have them back and now apparently he wants to give them back. Wish me luck. :(

^I hope that made sense

So I'm leaving to vist my grandma who isn't doing well but on a totally different note my Step-Mom just gave birth to my first and only sibling. Sorta bitter sweet in a way. I plan on turning my brother into a music freak :). My Dad and Step-Mom would put head phones around her stomach during pregnacy and played the Beatles, Dave Matthews and the Stones constantly.

For English I gotta find a song that is about isolation any ideas? I know alot of Modern Rock songs but I would rather find a CR song about isolation.

Congradulations and deepest regrets

Immediatley DSOTM comes to mind for isolation, but then agin Black Peter by the Grateful Dead sounds like the perfect song for what you seek

"The Loner" by Neil Young?

Walrus Gumboot 09-30-2005 05:23 PM
"The Loner" by Neil Young?
Good one

I had a really funny moment today. The Japanese foreign exchange student came up to me in the computer lab and said "You know much about Marijuana?!" I was like, "eeerrr, maybe?"

I guess the Health teacher assigned her the topic of keeping Marijuana illegal for the junior powerpoint thing, but the best part was that she didn't know what marijuana was.
I tried to help her find books about it and the health teacher ran up to her and was like "I've been lookning all over for you" and then made her sit at the cxomputer and listen to her saying "it's addicitve, it kills brain cells, it causes lung cancer, it makes you unable to reproduce, etc."

It was really funny

PinkFreud 09-30-2005 05:26 PM

crazy foreigners....

have any black sabbath fans heard faith no more's cover of war pigs? i think its pretty cool. its almost the same song though, they just speed it up a bit. and of course, it has mike patton singing.

on a similar note, faith no more also covered "easy like sunday morning" by lionel richie. its really good.

Comfortably Numb, definitly. Or a lot of other Pink Floyd songs (Wish You Were Here, Us and Them, ext.)

PinkFreud 09-30-2005 05:40 PM
Mike Patton singing anything bar Jeff Buckley = Automatically better. I like both those covers.
seriously, those two and cornell better be extremely high in the vocalist comp. or i might just rage against someone.

jpj 09-30-2005 07:25 PM

Mike Patton is pretty awesome, but I haven't heard that cover. The only cover of War Pigs cover I've heard was by Gov't Mule with Jason Newsted, which was pretty similar to the original but with Warren Haynes singing.

John Lennon- Isolation ;)

I can upload it if you don't have it.

JonG 09-30-2005 07:45 PM

I'm downloading the "No Direction Home" soundtrack right now.

Also, Love & Theft, The Basement Tapes

:) If needed, I'll upload.
I've never rated Cornell, but I agree completely on Michael and Jeffrey. And Butch Walker
That Butch Walker is one talented guy.

Glitterati 09-30-2005 07:53 PM
I like to tell that to anyone who'll listen. What material of his do you have, out of interest?
I got Letters out of my local library.

Glitterati 09-30-2005 08:02 PM
I wish my library was that cool. In fact, I've got a lot of great CDs there; it was there that I fell in love with the Manics.

Have you read this?
Cool, cool.

Yeah, I got some great music out of my library. GnR, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, etc.

*Bump*

Whats your opinions on the new dylan dvd,mom said she would buy it for me if i wanted it,and i just wanna know if its good or not.

JonG 09-30-2005 10:31 PM

It was on PBS. The first part was somewhat boring and showed what artists inspired Dylan into his music. Then the second part was more into the popular songs, when he went electric, with The Band. It only goes from '62-'66 though.

angusmaster 09-30-2005 10:40 PM

Do you sugest me to get it?

Hey You/Is There Anybody Out There. The other suggestions may be stronger musically, but no song carries the isolation theme better than these two.

I didnt think they showed that much with the band but I wasn't really paying attention. Wasnt the Bands first album with Dylan Blonde on Blonde?

EDIT: Or was that Robbie Robertson's first?

If you want to, go ahead. I don't really buy DVDs.

I'm thinking of uploading another album for the metal guys, what do you think I should do?
I'm thinking of uploading another album for the metal guys, what do you think I should do?
How about Who's Next?

Lunch 10-01-2005 09:16 AM

I was actually leaning towards that but I was trying to stray away from my Who bias a little bit. Maybe I'll do two uploads.

robo2448 10-01-2005 09:38 AM
I'm thinking of uploading another album for the metal guys, what do you think I should do?
I might do one more too. Let's hope they start discussing the album in the thread though, because if it doesn't, I might stop uploading them for a while. No reason to upload them if they won't appreciate it.

JonG 10-01-2005 09:53 AM

Heh, I just downloaded Neil Youngs s/t, and realized I have never heard it before or anything.

:\
