I'm the green guy from your avatar. Time is ticking!

Permanent Solution 09-14-2007 01:50 PM

Jom isn't online so be careful not to pass out Tojes.

New BTBAM is good, I like.

TojesDolan 09-14-2007 01:53 PM

I'd like to be on mushrooms. :(

Vince: Yeah it has some fine moments, but I don't know it can be overly repetitive in others. :(

Plus it has millions of gay breakdowns.

Tyr 09-14-2007 01:53 PM

I have to go to work in less than an hour. Let's hope the mob keeps itself comparatively sober. I don't feel like wading through drunks all night.

I'm on track 4 and so far I've been interested the whole time. We'll see.

Tyr: My dad just got back from Stokholm

Tyr 09-14-2007 01:56 PM

Really? What's he been doing here?

Tyr 09-14-2007 01:59 PM

Prostitution is illegal here, so there's definitely better places to do that.

superpeer 09-14-2007 02:08 PM

Jeez, I have a gig tomorrow and developed a bad cold, perhaps bronchitis like two days ago, I pretty much stopped smoking and drinking, kept quiet, even cancelled a trip to Amsterdam, had a lot of tea, honey and meds, but I just don't know if I will be able to sing tomorrow.

This suck, it always happens right before a gig, either I get sick or terrible backpains, always something. >=[

What exactly is the problem? No voice comes out or a stupid voice comes out? :p

There was some sort of meeting going on for work. I don't think it was the engine, I think that's Russian...is Saab there? Maybe something with Saab iirc

Tyr 09-14-2007 02:16 PM

Saab is a Swedish company, so that might be it. Bad time to go to Sweden, though. We have had lousy weather these last weeks.

Permanent Solution 09-14-2007 02:19 PM

It was probably Saab then, if they're Sewdish, it sounds about right.

Bad weather or no he said it was rally cool there and he had a good time so =)

Tyr 09-14-2007 02:23 PM

Stockholm's pretty cool, but the weather's kind of unpredictable.

Jom 09-14-2007 02:39 PM

It's actually not that big deal of a story, you guys!

For teaching, I have to go through a pretty stupid lineage - I'm taking a job as a teacher's assistant in a couple months, and prior to actually starting for that I have to get fingerprinted by the police as to showcase that I am not a felon. I already have had to sign plenty of waiver forms saying that I'm not one, but apparently I have to sign 2308402834 documents in order to cement my non-felon status.

Anyway, I'm in my interview and the lady is all happy and like, "Alright, the last thing you need to do for us is to get fingerprinted." I figure that this isn't a problem until I discover that I have to pay for this service... AND the processing fee... which was a price I'd rather not quote because I will become super pissed.

Right, so I go make an appointment through this fingerprinting company that the state endorses, and I get the building and everything. You would think for something like this I would go to, I dunno, a police station, or maybe a high-tech security building, right?

But no, it's located in the middle of a senior citizen assisted living center. What?!

And of course, the place is super religious (where my uni is located, it's like the freakin' Bible Belt), so there's a bunch of Jesus paraphernalia and scripture quoted or whatever. However, I was really surprised at the place in terms of the old people - they were 'all there' and fit and they would stop and talk and ask why I was here and all that.

So I go in, and the fingerprinting process is all digital. The lady, who is like Superfreak Extraordinaire when it comes to loving Jesus, asked me a bunch of silly questions about whether or not I would move out-of-state if the job was there and she liked my answer to the point that she told me her grandson's life story - moving out of state to Maryland, right by D.C., and loves it. I'm like, whatever, lady. But she commanded God to bless me, so that was pretty cool, I guess.

Anyways, despite the seniors being mentally and physically well, the place smelled like a combination of mothballs, Vicks VapoRub, Ben-Gay, and bedpans.

The best part, aside from the smell (not), was that in the nurse's office where the fingerprinting was taking place, there were various pens and notepads of certain prescription drugs. My favorites? Enzyte (erectile dysfunction pill, with its mascot, Smilin' Bob, incarnated on a giant poster on the wall), Flomax (helps control bladder function due to "weak stream" due to an enlarged prostate), and Cialis (another ED pill).

On my way out there was a game room and one of the seniors stopped me and proceeded to kick my ass in checkers and backgammon. And it's not like I let the guy win, I wanted to win so bad, but he schooled me like no other.

The end.

Moral of the story: No Child Left Behind can **** the **** off ****ers.

Permanent Solution 09-14-2007 02:40 PM

Tyr: Eh, I'm from Denver (so is he).

(Denver is the most erratic ever, it can snow and hit 70F the same day pretty often)

Jom: lolzy story as usual :)

You have the best stories.

Do you have to do any time on "prac", i.e. teaching in a real classroom with and without teacher supervision?

Riva 09-14-2007 04:51 PM

Oh, on a lighter note: Saab made planes for the Nazis.

Take that, Godwin's Law.

Shattered_Future 09-14-2007 04:57 PM

lolz @ Jom getting owned by old dudes.

Apocalyptic Raids 09-14-2007 10:59 PM

true

downloaded the new Kanye album earlier, it's alright. Not as bad as I was expecting, but it's not great either.

Txus 09-14-2007 11:08 PM

I hate what he did with Daft Punk :(

I'm entering a massive King Crimson binge atm.

It's grown on me, although his vocals bring it down as usual.

Txus 09-14-2007 11:12 PM

Yeah dude. I was listening to Homework today...what a magnificent album!

Nostalgia 09-14-2007 11:28 PM

Dude "Stronger" is actually good. The Daft Punk sample makes it though, and his rhymes are pretty shitty, though with Kanye it's good not to expect much from his lyrics.

Angmar 09-14-2007 11:30 PM

Ugh I have to get up at 3:20AM and its 10:30, I hate going to bed this early on a Friday. Bye thread.
