AA-12 06-17-2006 05:57 AM

Haha, sorry guys. This is the thread starter, Josh. :) I was quite high when I posted that.

rippa32 06-17-2006 06:38 AM

Hey, havent seen you in a while, couldve been the bannings. Tis nice to see you back.

AA-12 06-17-2006 06:40 AM

Thanks :chug:

Brew 06-17-2006 04:21 PM

'sup :chug:

I'd make a Sabbath purchase in the near future, but the albums that I want/need are the obscure ones from the 90's that are difficult to get hold of :(

AA-12 06-17-2006 04:26 PM

I haven't talked to you in forever! How's it going man?

Brew 06-17-2006 04:52 PM

Life is good at the moment - my band is doing well (linkage), have been with my girlfriend for just over 2months, w00t and I'm 1 exam away from a near 3-month long summer...but I should really get a job...

Hows things with you?

AA-12 06-17-2006 05:13 PM

Good band. I have a black metal project going too, mainly ambient stuff. http://myspace.com/asgardflorida

I'm doing pretty good I guess. Not much changes over here.

Sabbath_N_Soundgarden 06-17-2006 05:39 PM

Favourite Album:
Master of Reality- Last 3 songs are phenomenally awesome. Not to discredit the first 5 though, the whole bloody thing's great. Lord of This World and Into The Void alone, however, make me want to start up my own cover band just to play the stuff live everytime I listen to them.

Honourable mentions: Vol.4, Black Sabbath, Paranoid (over-played/overrated self-titled song, but War Pigs is too epic to deny no matter how popular it is, and Planet Caravan, Electric Funeral, and Fairies Wear Boots are all key Sabbath songs)

Only own the Ozzy years (all the studio albums at least), post-Ozzy has never caught my fancy the times I've given it a chance. Love it all but I find they start to get weak on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (starts off well, trails off after Sabbra) and decline from there. Still some great songs on the last couple albums none-the-less.

rippa32 06-18-2006 03:40 AM

What about Sabotage? The first side has some really awesome heavy tracks and the proggier stuff on side two is nothing short of brilliant (except Am I Going Insane, which is one reason you shouldnt let Ozzy write the majority of a song.)
Also check out Born Again, it has more in common with Ozzy eras than Dio stuff so you might like that.

Brew 06-19-2006 03:21 PM

Am I Going Insane (Radio) is a great song!

rippa32 06-21-2006 09:25 PM

Haha, each to their own I suppose. It is just a but too "pop" for me but meh.

pate 06-21-2006 11:15 PM
, post-Ozzy has never caught my fancy the times I've given it a chance.
.......you don't like the Dio stuff? Or the Tony Martin stuff?

Wow.

I like this guy, lol. Actually most people here just discredit anything ozzy wasn't on, that other guy (Sabbath_N_Soundgarden) seemed to have a plausible opinion though.

thats on the storey of... vol 1

hehehe top of the pops ftw :p

Brew 07-15-2006 05:59 AM

The video of Paranoid on The Story of Vol.1 is so badly mimed its unreal.

rippa32 07-15-2006 11:30 PM

Ive heard that the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath video is out of sync as well and had the ending missing. Did they cut out the second bit on the single because it didnt fit the mainstream all too well?

Anyway it's nice to see this thread going again.

shadow_stalker 07-17-2006 08:58 AM

the sabbath bloody sabbath video does have the end cut, as for the timing parts of it look like ozzy is really crap at synching then other parts it looks like he is just pissing about so its kind of hard to tell whats going on

rippa32 07-17-2006 11:44 PM

I should really get that DVD, I might get The Last Supper as well.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-18-2006 01:20 AM

Just a question, are any of you guys into any Doom?

rippa32 07-18-2006 03:55 AM

I am, in fact I have just started posting in the Stoner/Doom thread.

Although ive always felt that only the first 4 Sabbath albums influenced doom, the rest although heavy kinda lost the "Doom" sound to it.

pate 07-18-2006 11:19 AM
Just a question, are any of you guys into any Doom?
I'm a huge fan of doom.

Brew 07-18-2006 02:44 PM

Doom is still a kickass game, the sub-genre of metal is pretty kickass aswell.

Deth 07-18-2006 06:57 PM

I just aquired Sabbath's first 3 albums

I need more Sabbath fast. I'm planning on getting Vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Heaven and Hell rather quickly.

shadow_stalker 07-19-2006 01:51 AM

i think the only doom stuff i really have is Cathedral, still kicks arse though

rippa32 07-19-2006 04:31 AM
Doom is still a kickass game, the sub-genre of metal is pretty kickass aswell.
Hehe, doom is a good game.

Also to Deth, theres some good choices there I would also add Sabotage to that list.

pate 07-19-2006 12:16 PM

I would recommend you Mob Rules. It's my favorite Sabbath album.

AA-12 07-19-2006 12:16 PM

Mob Rules is fantastic.

Brew 07-19-2006 01:42 PM

Nuts to making a list of albums to buy...buy them all!

rippa32 07-19-2006 07:54 PM

I agree :thumb:, but considering buying them all at the same time is kinda silly. A list is a nice way to prioritise(sp) I think.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-20-2006 01:50 AM

I just got Black Sabbath and Reunion from the library

rippa32 07-20-2006 02:46 AM

Hey nice. Is reunion any good? I already have Past Lives and i'm not in any rush for another live album.

pate 07-20-2006 10:44 AM

Reunion sucks hard.

rippa32 07-20-2006 05:44 PM

Whats wrong with it? Ozzy's ageing vocals? The greatest hits style setlist?

pate 07-20-2006 06:57 PM

Mainly the vocals. As I recall, the sound isn't that great either. And Ozzy never shuts up also, during non-vocal parts.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-20-2006 11:34 PM

It's not that bad.

pate 07-20-2006 11:36 PM

Ah, maybe I just don't like live albums with Ozzy on them, as I detest Past Lives/Live at Last even more than I detest Reunion.
