man that's only $17 aussie.
$20 aussie is a cheap album by my standards. The usual price is at least $25 :( |
Sounds like FYE over here. Ghost Reveries? $20. Danzig II - Lucifuge? $17.
Stadium Arcadium? $24. And that's during a sale. |
Ghost Reveries is about £7 or £8 over here, but that and Still life are the only Opeth albums there ever are cheap.
|
FYE is UNBELIVEABLY overpriced. It's sad...
BestBuy has decent prices, and a halfway decent selection, and Tower has worse prices but a much better selection. |
The Virgin Mega stre had a decnt selection of Metal I guess.
There's this store that's called Archambault. Sells books, cd's DVD's, even has an instrument corner. Last the cd's were overpriced, but I went there yesterday, and saw lots of stuff I usually don't see at failry good prices. I mean Falkenbach's Heralding the Fireblade, some Galloglass albums ect. |
Sure thing, I'll get you the X-Factor, it's purely awesome.
Really??? Don't get me wrong, 'Sign of the Cross' is one of Maiden's best songs. 'Fortunes of War', 'Lord of the Flies' and 'Look for the Truth' are also great songs but apart from that there really isn't anything to write home about. Having said that, it's not as bad as the press would have you believe. I'd give it a 6 or 7/10 |
The aftermath, fortunes of war, blood on the world's hands, the edge of Darkness...they're all up there with the best things they ever did write in my opinion...the dark tone, asking questions about real life...it's very introspective and I love it.
|
There used to be a Virgin Megastore here in Dallas, but they just went out of business. They had a decent selection and decent prices. It was about $18 for a cd, which I guess isn't TOO bad, but I'd still rather order online.
|
I remember I went to a Virgin Megastore in NYC...got my copy of Oceanborn there.
I remember I stood there with my mom for about 5 minutes arguing with her to lend me 20 bucks to get it. :p |
There's one I've been to in Disney World that's pretty good. Hideously overpriced though. It was the only time I've seen Cynic - Focus in store, so I picked it up immediately.
|
Cynic in Disneyworld? Man, what the hell is this world coming to?
|
I saw a dude with a Cattle Decapitation shirt in Nickelodeon studios...I laughed so hard.
|
When I was in Grade 3, I was a model for a Nickolodeon Calendar. We dont have Nickolodeon here, so I never got to see it.
|
You're my new hero.
|
I can't spell Nickelodeon.
|

That's the one I went to  I go there every year when ever we go to Florida heh. Going back this summer, hopefully I'll have a little money to spend on a cd or 2. |
Bah, you guys are spoiled for choice. I get excited when I see a Judas Priest album at my local stores. :p
|
Speaking of which, I got Defenders Of The Faith from the library today, along with the Motley Crue autobiography:D
Lords Of Chaos hasn't come in yet, though :( |
Hehe, I borrowed out Sound Of The Beast by Ian Christe. It's not too bad... I've only skimmed it but the inaccuracies seem to be minimal so far. :p
|

Yeah I've been to that one a few times as well. Can't remember if I bought anything or not though.
I saw a dude with a Cattle Decapitation shirt in Nickelodeon studios...I laughed so hard.
 Once when I went golfing last year there was a guy at the course wearing a Darkthrone t-shirt. Got a pretty good laugh at that. |

Lords Of Chaos hasn't come in yet, though :(
Love that book, even though people say it's quite one sided... |
Yeah, I've heard so much about it that it will be nice to see what all the fuss is about.
The Motley book is great so far, though. |
And Defenders?
|
Hehe, I borrowed out Sound Of The Beast by Ian Christe. It's not too bad... I've only skimmed it but the inaccuracies seem to be minimal so far. :p
I quite like that book, however it spends too much time on hair metal, and has a curious definition of Power metal. Defenders of the faith is my least favourite Priest album of the ones I have. |
What ones do you have, Ollie?
I've started a playlist containing all the bands I got searching "Power Metal" in my winamp library. It's awesomeness, but some bands are missing, probably from being mislabelled. I'll have to do browsing and correcting genres. |
British Steel, Stained Class, Defenders, Angel of retribution, Painkiller, Screaming for Vengence and Ram it down.
|
I see. My ranking of those albums:
Screaming For Vengeance, Ram It Down, Painkiller, Stained Class, Defenders, Angel Of Retribution, British Steel. It's about midway, as you can see. Some really classic riffs, you know. NP: Angra - The Shadow Hunter \m/ |
Wow, I didn't see British Steel being last there...It's my second behind Painkiller.
Apart from The Rage, Steeler and United, it's a brilliant album. Painkiller though...One shot at Glory has to be up there in my "Best song ever" charts. |
Yeah, but I liked the really raw edge the band had in their '80s. Not to say that all their albums were great: *cough* Turbo *cough*
British Steel is good, but it doesn't get all that much re-listening from me. It used to be my favourite too. Slide Ram It Down up and down that list depending on how tolerant I am of the poorer songs. |
British Steel, Stained Class, Defenders, Angel of retribution, Painkiller, Screaming for Vengence and Ram it down.
I rate them so: Painkiller > Screaming For Vengeance > Stained Class > Ram It Down > British Steel > AOR Deal With The Devil alone almost puts AOR above British Steel, though. |
Pshhh, Hellrider and Judas Rising are the best off AoR.
I'll do all the ones I have. Stained Class, Painkiller, Sad Wings, Defenders, Screaming, Ram it Down, Angel of Retribution, British Steel, Hellbent for Leather Unleashed in the East would crush all of them though, if it was allowed. |
Pshhh, Hellrider and Judas Rising are the best off AoR.
pfffft, Deal With The Devil is easily Painkiller-worthy. |
Hehe, I borrowed out Sound Of The Beast by Ian Christe. It's not too bad... I've only skimmed it but the inaccuracies seem to be minimal so far. :p
Some of his opinions are questionable at best, and his editorializing does create some inaccuracies, but for the most part it's a pretty good book. |
Hey, Alex, did you ever set up a last.fm?
|
Can't say that I have.
|
Jason, did you find Defenders of the crown?
It's easily starting to become one of my favourite albums. NP-Knights in shining armour. |
Are you talking about Brocas Helm, Ollie?
|
Human fortress.
|
oh ok.
>_> |
Sup.
Havn't posted in this thread in a long while. Thought id post my latest two albums: Edguy - Rocketride Stratovarius - (untitled?) (Selftitled?) Both decent albums.. Really like The Matrix and Superheros on the Edguy and I like Maniac Dance and The Land of Ice and Snow off the Strat one. What do you guys think of them? |
