Has anyone heard of Eric Clapton's "Rainbow Concert"?

Holy shit.

One of the greatest things I have ever heard. I'll upload it later this week, but it's such an amazing concert with Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood and Pete Townshend all on guitar. It's amazing.

PinkFreud 09-28-2005 08:12 PM

ii have it. its great.

PinkZeppelin27 09-28-2005 08:14 PM

hey everyone...

I went to this used book/cd store the other day to get some new cds and they had Perfect Strangers by Deep Purple for like 2 bucks. I'm kinda new to DP and don't know much about them. I was just wondering if this was some of their better work or not.
I've listened to most of it and I really like Wasted Sunsets and Knockin on Your Back Door. There were some pretty good solos too.

I'd imagine that In Rock and Machine head would be better. (those are the two I have by DP)

PinkFreud 09-28-2005 08:27 PM

perfect strangers is pretty good. i wouldnt class it as their best above the ones rnr listed, but its very solid.

I might check one of those out then. Thanks man.

The album Live in Japan is considered one of the top 3 live albums out there, at least as far as i've heard. DP are great live, or at least they used to be. If you can get that, I think that would be your best bet. Although it is good to get acquainted with studio work, Live in Japan is there best album in my book.

angusmaster 09-28-2005 08:34 PM

Off topic, but i heard hotel california today, and it made me wonder, what are all your opinions about the eagles,if we discussed them before,i dont remember it or i might not have joined then.

The Eagles are a great band.

My friend got to see them live backstage for free. Her friend's dad manages them.

DeusExMachina 09-28-2005 08:48 PM

I like The Eagles, but I don't really think they're anything exceptional. Fun to listen to, but only a couple songs would I consider great.

Edit: I just mailed out Smile. Most of you probably have it, but if you don't, check your mail.

I like the Eagles too. My dad saw them live and said they were awesome.

Yes but they have a very long career. There's probably some great songs there that you haven't heard yet.

That's true. I haven't heard a ton of their stuff. Perhaps someone could upload what they consider to be a really top notch album of theirs?

BludgeonySteve 09-28-2005 09:25 PM

Hotel California, Desperado and S/T are great albums. Though i'm going to have to agree that there are only a few songs that are brilliant and I could never get sick of. Some bands have a song like The Eagle's best every 2nd song they make.

thickasabrick 09-28-2005 10:11 PM

I like a lot of songs by the Eagles, but they aren't the type of band that I could listen to fairly regularly and not get sick of. It's just more of a preference thing, I think.

The Eagles are a band that I could listen to every day for the rest of my life and not get sick of. I've loved them since I was a little kid. They're songs are so diverse too. From the earlier music, to when Joe Walsh joined the band, their sound evolved so much. I would have to say Peaceful Easy Feeling is my favourite Eagles song. It always puts me in such a good mood. It's so nice and layed back, I just love that song.

I didnt get it :(

Riva 09-29-2005 05:13 AM

The Eagles are a great band for me to just listen to when I feel like relaxing. All of their songs are at a high level, nothing mindblowing, but all just really well put together.

I got in early July, talked about how great it was for a while and PinkFreud was the only other person who had it. Glad someone else loves it. Don't forget about Steve Winwood on organ. His singing on Pearly Queen led me to get into Traffic. And Reebop is like the coolest guy ever.

I don't have anything by The Eagles. I like some of their stuff I've heard on the radio, Take It Easy is great. I kind of got sick of Hotel California (the song) just because it's so overplayed.

me neither- princesslolly006@yahoo.com

I missed No Direction Home's 2nd half, maybe I will catch it this weekend

There was such a Dylan vibe at school after they showed the first documentary, some kid was playing Greatest Hits I in the hallway and everyone was taling about it. It was cool

robo2448 09-29-2005 12:29 PM

I sent out Johnny Cash American IV 'cause I was bored and felt like uploading something. If any of you want it, you should download it as soon as you can because I'm going to send it out to the metalheads too.

/bump

Lunch 09-29-2005 12:32 PM

Ok cool. What I meant earlier was any album you send to the metalheads, write a little bit about it.
