Ok well I'm looking for a third crash. I've got a 17" AAX Studio Crash and a AA 18" Thin Crash. 16" or 19" is what I'm looking for a think. Price range isn't exacly a factor, as long as it's not like 350 USD.
19" HHX Stage Crash? Would provide a nice darker contrast to the studio and thin.

A bigger AAX Stage Crash, or an AA Medium-thin Crash would do nicely

but then again, theres always room to experiemtn with your setup.

give an HHXtreme Crash a shot. bit of trash, nice smooth sound, all sexy :thumb:

Tim 10-02-2006 11:25 PM

i had an AA medium thin crash in an 18inch a while back but i sold it to a friend. It sounded exactly like my AAXplosion. buuut i think ill give a look at the HHXtreme. also considering the aaxplosion in 19. maybe even the vault too. next time i go down to the shop im gonna try them out. thanks for the suggestions.

Seafroggys 10-02-2006 11:31 PM

was that the one you reviewed?

Icky_Mettle 10-03-2006 12:00 AM

Alright, I'm gonna add on a smaller crash pretty soon. I'm thinking a 16 incher.

My cymbals are:
HHX groove ride
14'' New Beats
18'' Istanbul Tra Med-Thin

I'm looking for something quick and fairly airy, that will cut but isn't obnoxiously clangy or bright. Handmade is preferable, but I'd also go for something by the big 3.

Aaron 10-03-2006 12:01 AM

I'd go for a 16" Ufip Class-Series Medium-Thin Crash

Drum Phil 10-03-2006 06:31 AM

16" K Custom fast crash?

We_Love_Lime 10-03-2006 07:12 AM

16 CIE Vintage?

Yes.

Hi.

I'm looking for some loudish hi-hats that sound perfect for reggae and ska, and are quite beefy and heavy and dark. Guidance would be much appreciated, if any one gets what I mean.

HeLLmO 10-03-2006 02:34 PM

quick beats maybe? K custom mastersounds posibly?

We_Love_Lime 10-03-2006 04:15 PM

New Beats
Or 15 K's

14 New Beats I would think though.

Something that Sly or Calrton would play.

yeah. it was a great crash but when played with other instruments they just sounded exactly alike. im goign for different sounding crashes but in 18's. i sold it to a friend who really needed it.

Daven 10-07-2006 03:59 PM

I'm looking for a loud, heavy splash. Im looking preferably into Zildjian since its the only brand with all of the series in my local shop.

We_Love_Lime 10-07-2006 06:31 PM

Loud... Heavy.
I would say a 14 Z Custom Splash but than people would yell at me.

Drum Phil 10-07-2006 06:36 PM

12" Meinl MB20 splash
10" Paiste rude splash

Zildjian_man 10-07-2006 07:04 PM

How bright are the meinl classic cymbals, and how long do they ring out? Im orsering some off line, no shops close to here.

that is Zildjians heaviest and loudest splash

Aaron 10-08-2006 11:49 PM

Get a 13" K Top HiHat and use it as a splash

SeNeCa 10-10-2006 09:09 AM

im looking for 2 crashes, a pair of hi hats and ride guys. i dnt really know how to explain what i want but im after shimmering soughta of sound, like a light clean sound but still strong enough for rock/metal. sorry about the explanation :P im open to all brands. thanks :)

We_Love_Lime 10-10-2006 03:46 PM

Some A Custom Fast Crash's are pretty shimmering.

drummguy731 10-10-2006 06:45 PM

^^yes, they fit the description that you want perfectly.

Cocaberry 10-10-2006 10:26 PM

AAX Stage Crashes, Stage Hats, and Stage ride.

Aaron 10-10-2006 10:37 PM

Vault Hats, HHX Groove Ride, 16" and 18" AAXplosions

Stickman Sam 10-11-2006 01:20 PM

Hello cymbal wizards, I'm about to start looking into new cymbals for my setup. I'm looking for:

Hi-hats with good definition and a clear pedal sound

Ride with a very defined bell, think Peart's ride bell sound from Counterparts, and not much wash/sustain/overtones on the bow

2 crashes, I like them somewhat on the glassy side, but still cutting enough for high-volume situations.

And a splash. I've played two splashes in my life: I loved an Istanbul splash (but can't remember the line, it was about 6 months ago and the name was unreadable) and I've also played an AAX Metal splash, which I despised on the grounds that it wasn't splashy enough for me.

Possibly a china; I've only played one china, a Meinl classics 16" I think it was, which I quite liked.

Recommendations? I don't mind saving up, I only have about £200 at the moment. So I guess I'll need to.

Thanks,

Sam

Seafroggys 10-11-2006 01:58 PM

New Beats for your hi-hats.

Stickman Sam 10-11-2006 02:13 PM

I've played a couple of pairs and am considering them, pending something a little less expensive/that I like better.
