You should do the Dance of Eternity

What do you actually have to do?
We have to record a 3-5 minute song for our GCSEs it counts for 20% or 30% of it, I forget which.
DOE is a tad too long.
Yeah, everyone thinks that a popular easy song gets them good marks.
I find it quite sad that some people won't play the perfect song to their ability because they don't like the song. They just end up playing something stupidly easy like green day and just waste their GCSE.

Exactly, they're chosing Green Day over a grade piece which could get them a higher mark. If the DT plan fails I'll play a piece my guitar teacher gave me. I don't know what grade it is but he said played perfectly it will get me an A*

I'm doing GCSE music at the moment and I've got 29/30 for my composition and 28/30 for my practical exam. I made mine as hard as I could, then it made all the simple ones look bad:naughty: .

Could someone send me Spock's Beard - Snow please?

scenesfromatheater 11-07-2005 01:48 PM

Way hey, I am the top poster in this thread. All bow down to the master of the DT thread.

Now who's the newbie...MUHAAHAA:lol: HAAHAAHAAHAA.....me:upset:.

I do not have that Spock's Beard song, but if I did I would send it you, me being the king of the DT thread and all:naughty: .

So today, in music class, we watched this video of the 2003 Drum Festival or something. So, as a joke, I asked if Mike Portney was on it, and my music teacher responds "Yeah, that guy's awesome." So for the last five minutes of class we got to watch DT play Dance of Eternity.

No way! My teacher wouldn't have a clue who anyone that isn't German or something is that I like. He always says to us, "you all listen to pop music that is always in 4/4". So I took him in some DT and he was away that day...:upset: .

My theory teacher likes DT. :D

I have undertaken attempting to learn Home...I have up to the verse part so far, the open D chords part. The song's not too hard, barring the fact that there are some impossible runs up the neck, and the solo will cause my hands to spontaneously shatter.

Oh:upset: . Why doesn't anyone like/have heard of DT at my school. I only know one person at my school who likes them....:upset: . The music teachers at my school don't like anything apart from classical.

i understand how you feel man, im like the only person in my whole school who's into progressive metal... oh well...

my teachers are fine though - myteacher is a huge fan of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple :D

Shattered_Future 11-07-2005 02:51 PM

My theory teacher's awesome...he knows tons about bands I like. Tool, Symphony X, Queensryche...and so forth.

There's a few kids in my class who like DT, and I have a few friends who I went to Gigantour with who like them.

The only people in my town that like Dream Theater are my guitar teacher and a few friends that I brainwashed. Most people listen to rap and pop.

Just try to brinwash some people into liking DT, so you have people to talk to about DT in school.

A lot of my friends know DT from me but most of them hate it. I do have 2 mates that I went to the two London gigs with though.

Having 1 or 2 friends that like Dream theater is better than having no friends that like them. Thats the way I look at it.

Yeah, it's great having them just to chat DT with them. We do get a lot of odd looks when we're talking about 20+min songs.

Liquid Fantasy 11-07-2005 03:16 PM

the only person i know that likes DT is my best friend and shes a girl, all of my schoolmates listen to punk :S

GenuineImitation 11-07-2005 03:25 PM

I usually try to break people in with Lie, As I Am or Pull Me Under. Those songs just seem easier to get into if someone never heard dream theater before.

Aberrationbass 11-07-2005 03:30 PM

Two of my best freinds really like DT, but most of my others don't. I'm currently trying to convert two more of my freinds, who are huge prog fans, so I doubt it should be to hard.
