Can anybody tell me a few Who songs with great harmonies?
It's hard not to find great harmonies on any of their early albums.

BludgeonySteve 09-23-2005 10:33 PM

I'm lazy, though.

There's probably some in Tommy, I think i'll give it a listen.

(it's always time for Tommy :))

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-23-2005 10:35 PM

Sorry to sound ignorant (lol i am lol) but Pete Townshed sang for The Who, right?

BludgeonySteve 09-23-2005 10:40 PM

No, Rodger Daltry did. Pete sang too but Rodger was their lead singer.

Dried Muffin Remnants 09-23-2005 10:41 PM

But...he sang for them.

IMO I Can See for Miles has the best harmony of any song, ever.

MBS 09-23-2005 11:33 PM

We're Not Gonna Take It has a pretty cool harmony behind "My name is Tommy/ and I became aware this year..."

Edit: I got ELO's Out of the Blue on vinyl for 2 dollars today .

NP: Everlong - Foo Fighters

heavy metal kid 09-24-2005 12:02 AM

so i was thinking how underated(unknown) are the Dire Straits on the modern youth, i have listened to them a lot the past weeks. They are a great band.

/Just a random thought.

magicbus 09-24-2005 12:04 AM

I listened to Money For Nothing twice today (one radio, one album). I should probably listen to the rest of it though.

heavy metal kid 09-24-2005 12:07 AM

i listened them first watching vh1 classic block, i found them good, but nothing spectacular, then i started to listen more of their music, the guitar work is awesome i like their music a lot.

Illmatic 09-24-2005 12:09 AM

Mark Knopfler is a good guitarist, but Dire Straits does not impress me very much.

Leper 09-24-2005 12:09 AM

Brothers in Arms is such a fantastic album.

I have it on vinyl :D

Illmatic 09-24-2005 12:10 AM

Also, to catch up on the vocal harmonies talk, I don't think any band really topped the Beach Boys in that regard.

Leper 09-24-2005 12:13 AM

Good call. Harmony-wise, the Beach Boys were really in a league of their own.

Leper 09-24-2005 12:25 AM

Wow I just found an awesome song that I didn't even know I had on my computer..

NP: Buffalo Springfield- For What it's Worth

Lunch 09-24-2005 08:48 AM

I listen to a lot of Buffalo Springfield considering I only have Retrospective.

Broken Arrow 09-24-2005 09:35 AM

Speaking of Buffalo Springfield and harmonies. They have great harmonies. I'll love their debut album.

RockAndRoll 09-24-2005 09:40 AM

I've Always thought CSNY had the best harmonies.

Broken Arrow 09-24-2005 09:43 AM

Yeah, same.

Hey do you know about that Beatles Tribute band "Rain" is going to the JLC? I might go.

Lunch 09-24-2005 09:43 AM

Can't believe we missed them.

RockAndRoll 09-24-2005 09:53 AM

I went and saw robert plant though, it was a great show man, you should've been there.

Broken Arrow 09-24-2005 10:30 AM

Yeah, I should of. That was weak on my part.

RockAndRoll 09-24-2005 10:41 AM

Mhmm. Especially in Sloop John B.

thickasabrick 09-24-2005 11:46 AM

All I can say is thank God that Mark Knopfler played on Slow Train Coming because that album was in dire (haha get it!..a joke) need of something to spice it up. No offense to Dylan, they are good songs, but I think it would have been a little boring without Knopfler's playing. And he's a **** good guitarist. He's got the perfect mix of technical ability, speed, and creativity. He can write amazing riffs/solos/songs and he makes such great use of different chord voicings. I kinda wanna go listen to Brother in Arms...I think that's the only album I have by the Dire Straits (that's the name of the album right? My brain is running so low right now..)

Last night we were going to frosh, and there were cops hiding and pulling everyone over and going through their entire vehicles. They took our hundred dollar glass bong, my friends pipe (he's had that pipe for over three years now, and he's probably smoked up with it a few times a day since he got it), they found our alcohol but I told him I was 19 and since it wasn't opened he let it go....and he didnt' find our weed because I hid it in a tape cassette case (the perfect hiding spot, trust me) and put it in the glove compartment with like 30 other tapes. My one friend had to go to the back of the guys cop car...and then eventually he just let us go after taking our pipe and bong (the bastard). Funny thing though, my friend has been in the back of a cop car 7 times in his life, and I haven't been once. The cops always decide to take him to the back.
