w00t I like all those bands. The Clash are so good

dr._feelgood 09-23-2005 05:52 PM

Train In Vain is one of my favorite songs EVER. Whenever I listen to it I get the urge to sing along and do a stupid dance.

thickasabrick 09-23-2005 06:11 PM

I had such a craving to listen to Neil Young today. I had Needle and the Damage Done in my head for like five hours straight so I decided to come home and listen to Harvest. Oh I love that album, for some reason listening Neil Young always makes me want to listen to Bob Dylan as well. I'm aching to listen to Blood on the Tracks, but I just started listening to Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits...so Dylan will have to wait.

BludgeonySteve 09-23-2005 06:13 PM

Thickasabrick is such a folkie :)

Seafroggys 09-23-2005 06:22 PM

Heh, all you high school kids. I start my freshman year at college on Monday :)

I, too, was an honor student in high school, and graduated with a respectable 3.45 GPA (only one D, last semester in AP Physics).
Thickasabrick is such a folkie :)
That seems more true every day. I've already listened to two Dylan albums, a Neil Young album, and I'm listening Simon and Garfunkel right now. I'm just a relaxed guy, and I like relaxing music. The solo from the Dylan and the Dead version of Knockin on Heavens Door melts my soul.

:)

We had our frosh last weekend, but I got so stoned it took me two hours to pick up my friends, and then we got really stoned and it took us another three or so ours to figure out where frosh was (it was in the country somewhere in a valley). Tonight is a really big frosh, about five different schools coordinated it, except I'm sure almost every highschool will make an appearance. I'm making my friend drive so I have no worries...I hope no one tries to fight any of my friends. It looks freezing out though.

edit- and what the hell is AP?

Same. On all counts!

thickasabrick 09-23-2005 06:34 PM

How on earth can Simon and Garfunkel sing so ****ed good. They're amazing. Perfect!

Does anyone know whats the deal with that picture of Bob Dylan holding a wrench type thing and a picture of a lady? It's on the inside of Blonde on Blonde.

Seafroggys 09-23-2005 06:56 PM

I got a 1320 on my SAT, never took my ACT.

Speaking of vocal harmonies, no one ever mentions the Who's harmonies. Its always Simon and Garfunkle, CSNY, The Beatles, and Queen.

I think, at least on the album, they have pretty **** good harmonies going.

The Beach Boys have good harmonies.

Meh, I don't think they're all that great. They're good on some tracks, though.

The Who own all those bands, though (yes, I'm including the Beatles.)

clown_phobia 09-23-2005 07:31 PM

The who definately have some good harmonies. Live they're great (the harmonies) plus on songs like "i'm a boy" and "a quick one while he's away"

Brokensticks 09-23-2005 07:32 PM

Yeh, good harmonies and i'm not sure they own the Beatles and Queen

BludgeonySteve 09-23-2005 07:34 PM

Queen has some of the best harmonies in rock, I think. The whole band could sing well.

Seafroggys 09-23-2005 07:39 PM

Queen no doubt has the best harmonies, but I was asking about the Who, mainly because I;ve never heard their harmonies talked about much.

And The Who are better then Queen, but not The Beatles

Queen had awesome harmonies.

I don't know many artists that I can say I like equally with The Beatles. Probably just The Clash, Bob Dylan, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

BludgeonySteve 09-23-2005 07:47 PM

Can anybody tell me a few Who songs with great harmonies?

Glitterati 09-23-2005 07:48 PM

I know! They're so good.

And as for the Blonde On Blonde thing, I'm a little stumped myself.

StreetlightRock 09-23-2005 07:54 PM

AIC has some pretty great harmonies, Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell had some really haunting stuff. Not a great fan of the music though.

AiC is awesome, I only have Dirt though. Layne Staley has one fucking awesome voice.

This Coltrane Plays the Blues album is really relaxing.

Hell yes. AiC were great.

pohl_56 09-23-2005 08:29 PM

Switching gears now... Does anybody have plans to attend the four posted Aerosmith tour dates? I would go but it is too far away from me (other side of country) but I will go if they hit the west coast USA.

jpj 09-23-2005 08:31 PM

Too far away, and there are concerts 30 minutes away that I'd rather go to.

Never been a big Aerosmith fan :-\

That version of Walk This Way with Run-D.M.C. was so awesome though.

My mom said they were playing random bars in New Haven or something before they made it big

That is, if we are still talking about Aerosmith

WelcomeToTheMachine 09-23-2005 09:14 PM
