Blind Faith's self-tited was stronger than anything Cream put out, though.
Maybe as a single unit, but Cream's whole catalogue combined is stronger than the Blind Faith s/t.

Edit: Actually I might prefer each Cream album to the BF s/t, but for argument's sake let's just the BF is better than each Cream album.

Walrus Gumboot 09-21-2005 08:20 PM

Once I found Blind Faith's s/t in my attic and thought my parents were into child po*n or something

I thought I rememberd seeing a "Spoonful Jam" on my list somewhere, but I searched it and I guess it was "Nobody's Spoonful Jam" Oh well. I do have an early ABB cover of Spoonful. They just didn't have the right kick when they only had one drummer

Lunch 09-21-2005 08:22 PM

I've heard Spoonful done by the Allmans, The Dead, Ten Years After, Gov't Mule, The Who, and Cream.

robo2448 09-21-2005 08:22 PM

I think Blind Faith s/t is much stronger than Fresh Cream, and a little stronger than Disraeli Gears. I think the live tracks on Wheels of Fire give it the edge, but barely.

Too bad about Grech. But he didn't really add too much to Blind Faith. At least compared to the other members. Substitute Bruce.

I can honestly say I've never heard a Blind Faith song.

Ah, but which is the best?

I'm probably only person who really likes Fresh Cream, and I still dig Disraeli Gears though most people in here dislike it. The Wheels of Fire studio disc is strong enough by itself, but coupled with the live disc in turns into a fantastic album.
Ah, but which is the best?
Cream (Wheels of Fire)>Cream (Fresh Cream)>Ten Years After, Dead and Mule (poor quality on these two)> Allmans> The Who (they only played it for a minute or so).

robo2448 09-21-2005 08:30 PM

I don't really like Fresh Cream as much. It's alright but it doesn't really compare to their later stuff IMO.

Disraeli Gears is awesome, but it has a couple of tracks that drag it down.

Wheels of Fire has a couple of filler tracks, but the live disc completely makes up for songs like Pressed Rat and Warthog.

Illmatic 09-21-2005 08:32 PM

Fresh Cream and Disraeli Gears are ok, but nothing to get thrilled about.

The live disc of Wheels of Fire is fantastic, but the studio disc is rather hit-or-miss.

magicbus 09-21-2005 08:32 PM

I don't think Disraeli Gears has a bad track on it. Fresh Cream there are a few I don't like, but mostly it's sweet. The same goes for Wheels Of Fire, the studio disc has maybe one song I don't like, and the entire live disc is awesome.

I don't understand why people are always putting down Angus Young. What is wrong with him? He's (along with Malcom, Bon and Brian) managed to write all new material for a new album almost every year since like 1973...excluding the past several years.

People say all their songs sound the same....maybe that's because there are only so many different rhythms, beats, chords and chord progressions in rock 'n' roll. Plus he was/is a true rock 'n' roll guitarist, he was influenced by guitarists like Chuck Berry, instead of Jimi Hendrix. And everyone knows that (originally) rock songs rarely consisted of more than 3 or 4 chords. Personally, I find some of AC/DC's albums to be some of the best rock albums ever written, and Angus Young is quite possibly the definitive rock 'n' roll guitarist (I'm not saying he's the best...).

Illmatic 09-21-2005 08:43 PM

It's not they're bad, it's just that they are triumphantly mediocre. They bore the hell out of me.

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2005 08:49 PM

AC/DC is good. Although not so much these days. Bon Scott was where it's at.

Let There Be Rock is a killer album. Definitely my favourite AC/DC album. It's got so much energy it makes me wanna stand up and move my hips in an inpregnating way.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-21-2005 09:02 PM

Well I'm staying here with my mom. I'm not going to be posting until Rita passes. Wish me luck.

Illmatic 09-21-2005 09:04 PM

Best of luck to you.

good luck with that.

Seafroggys 09-21-2005 09:09 PM

I'm working on an arrangement of several songs from Tommy for a marching drumline production. Currently I"m working on WE're Not Gonna Take It. I have the chords, but I don't know the notes for the vocal melody. If anybody has a midi or a link to some sheet music for this song, that be great. For the entire album, even better :D

magicbus 09-21-2005 09:18 PM

Good luck Schyma. Stay safe :thumb:

Jacaranda 09-21-2005 09:28 PM

So, I just got back from the Homecoming Bonfire where the girl I had a little thing for (We made out just last week) was totally all over my best friend/guitarist for band. I'm in a horrible mood, lets all feel sorry for me, mkay?

On another note I got two more CD's for 15 bucks! I'm starting to really like used CD sections. I got The Guess Who - American Woman and Funkadelic - Maggot Brain (I lost my orginal copy).

Be safe Schyma, your braver then me I would've been out of there a week ago.

Quick, I need some good Neil Young songs! I've got 4 dollars burning a hole in my iTunes and I decided to spend it on Neil. Nothing from After the Goldrush, Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, Rust Never Sleeps, please. :)

Seafroggys 09-21-2005 09:35 PM

Yeah, at least there's hope of your home surviving. I know how its like to lose one, and to know your gonna lose it for months on it.

No, don't feel sorry for me, I'm not asking it. All i'm asking is some sheet music

Good luck with riding the storm out!

Definitely check out Harvest, The Needle and the Damage Done, Old Man, and Heart of Gold if you don't have those.

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2005 09:37 PM

Good luck, Schyma. Remember to keep your weed in a plastic bag. Nobody likes soggy weed :thumb:

Best of luck dude

And I think AC/DC was better with Bon. They had more of a raw, bluesier sound with him.

Then again, I haven't listened to AC/DC in months.
Oh man, I forgot I have Harvest too.
I'd definently check out "On The Beach". It's my favorite song off of the album of the same name. Some other good ones from that album are "Walk On", "Revolution Blues", "Vampire Blues", and "For The Turnstiles".

BludgeonySteve 09-21-2005 10:10 PM

On The Beach is cool. Almost every non 80s (with the exeption of the 1989 album Freedom) Neil Young is great,

Aussie_rocker 09-22-2005 12:06 AM
