cit?

Nick 07-02-2006 06:14 PM

counselor-in-training

they teach you how to look after the little kids and stuff

but in reality we just mess around and take advantage of the camp

overturned 07-02-2006 06:18 PM

That sounds like hell.

/can't stand children of all ages

Ezekiel 07-02-2006 06:19 PM

Most children of about 14 are alright, because they start becoming aware of the fact that kicking someone in the bollocks really isn't a very nice thing to do.

Nick 07-02-2006 06:22 PM

It's not so bad

the more enthusiastic you are (or pretend to be) the better the kids behave, and it becomes pretty effortless

Not all of the kids are small, and I'm not really looking at that bit, there are plenty of others to do that. I'm thinking along the lines of the guy who takes the older girls' cabins out on canoe trips and makes sure they don't get lost...

My friend is a CIT at camp, he really likes it

What camp is it?

overturned 07-02-2006 06:25 PM

I remember doing work experience in a school. I was enthusiastic as hell as for the most part it was quite fun but about 80-90% were either afraid or disrespectful little ****s.

Nick 07-02-2006 06:28 PM

RKY camp, Parham, Ontario

faaaaar away from missouri, I'm afraid

meh it's a fun time

and once you figure the whole kids thing out it becomes pretty easy to deal with them

Ezekiel 07-02-2006 06:33 PM

My work experience was at a sports shop

considering that I disagree with about 90% of sports, I think my school made a bad choice.

It was so degrading - I had to dress like a chav, and the boss was crap - beause I wasn't 16 at the time I wasn't legally allowed to operate a till or some sh[SIZE=2]it like that, so I did all the ridiculously boring jobs. I did so many ridiculously boring jobs that the boss ran out of stuff for me to do, so he ended up making me make sure that all the coathangers were facing the right way round.

overturned 07-02-2006 06:34 PM

Wait, you didn't get a choice?

AG 07-02-2006 06:37 PM

I went to a college and did a college course for a week in my work experience.

Lol, not really much work at all.

Country Doctor 07-02-2006 06:38 PM

Two weeks in a guitar shop for me. Really dull and I couldn't play anything.

I was shown how to restring a guitar, and had to do it to all of them after that.

AG 07-02-2006 06:45 PM

So, I'm going to bed.

Which means, unfortunately, this thread is to be closed.

If we decide to bring it back, I'll delete this one and start a new. If we decide not to bring it back, I'll keep the thread as a souvenir.

overturned 07-02-2006 06:46 PM

Aww...in a cute way for some reason.

AG 07-02-2006 06:47 PM
