April 1st is going to rock. Not only do I love playing jokes on others, but I get to see DT as an added bonus.

Thats cool, if the girl-who-will-hopefully-soon-be-my-GF liked Dream Theater I would be awesome.

I am watching the musical joy that is LATB...

Goodnight kiss is better every time...

GenuineImitation 01-26-2006 05:08 PM

I just bought Once in a Livetime. Did they make a DVD for this also?

I do beleive 5 years in A Livetime and images and words DVD includes once in a livetime, does it not??

ATC 01-26-2006 08:27 PM

Any chance that the DT 20th anniversary show might include Kevin Moore?

I'm definitely going to make it to that if he is. By themselves, DT don't interest me too much. I blame Petrucci's guitar tone and Rudess/Sherinian.

Darkness 01-26-2006 08:38 PM

No, he's not. He declined Portnoys invitation.

ATC 01-26-2006 08:52 PM

Oh well. Hopefully OSI will tour* at some point.

I dont know. I dont have either of those.

ghettoeddo 01-26-2006 11:11 PM

woot, back after being banned for an unknown reason :( spamming maybe? oops =X

anywho, THEY HAVE PHOENIX UP!!! me and 10 or so other friends are buying tix first thing saturday morning as they go on sale. it'll be grand :]

and i happen to think petrucci's tone is one of the best out there. it just soars above everything and hence no need for a rhythm guitarrist

Some of the second DVD is from the live album, but most of it is different songs from the same set or different performances.

Unfortunately he did.
I'm sure it would have meant the majesty of space dye vest if he had :(

im liking a fortune in lies a lot so far. but that's all i've heard

Jev 01-27-2006 11:51 AM

The Killing Hand and Afterlife really grew on me over time.

ghettoeddo 01-27-2006 11:58 AM

what do you think the setlist will be like this coming north america tour?

from looking at their tourography, i think they'll open w/ root of all evil, close w/ sacrificed sons/octavarium.

Lord Abortion 01-27-2006 11:59 AM

Ugh, sacrificed sons...

I think they'll close with Octavarium with an encore of Pull Me Under.

ghettoeddo 01-27-2006 12:01 PM

... i love that song. especially the pinch harmonic riff after the guitar solo

do their setlists tend to differ from continent to continent?

nowitzki 01-27-2006 12:02 PM

They usually do an encore of either Pull Me Under/Metropolis, Spirit Carries On or Learning to Live

Lord Abortion 01-27-2006 12:15 PM

How about they do this.

Metropolis
Endless sacrifice
Hollow years
The answer lies within
These walls
Surrounded
Take the time
Goodnight kiss
Solitary shell
Misunderstood
Voices
the silent man
Lie
Beyond this life
The spirit carries on
...................
Learning to live
In the name of God
A change of seasons

Think that would be the best show ever.

ghettoeddo 01-27-2006 12:18 PM

you still forget octavarium ;) they should open w/ overture 1928 and if you added UAGM, TGP, erotomania and peruvian skies, i think that'd pretty much do it for me. and space-dye vest is a given.

The_Riddler 01-27-2006 12:24 PM

Train of Thought/Images and Words

Currently, I am stuck between buying Train of Thought and Images and Words. I am not sure at all on which one to buy at all. I hear Images and Words is better, but I want to hear your guys opinion. I have Awake/Octavarium, always looking for more good Dream Theater stuff.

Lord Abortion 01-27-2006 12:25 PM

Opinions, opinions...

I couldn't have Octovarium AND ACOS in the set, that would be ludicrous
And there is no liklihood of there ever being a live version of space dye vest in there.
I was also being representative of varied albums...

Riddler- given they are my two favourite DT albums. GET THEM BOTH!!

Jev 01-27-2006 12:28 PM

Hmm, tough. If you prefer 8v more get TOT. If you like Awake more get I&W.

ATC 01-27-2006 03:17 PM

They don't play Space-Dye Vest as it's Kevin Moore's song and so forth. Dunno. It's my favorite DT song and its such a shame that it won't be played by anyone.

[quote]Train of Thought/Images and Words

Definitely Images and Words. It's got some nice songwriting and songs but it isn't as metallic as ToT. Depends on what you're looking for.

Ooooo....I'd probably add some FII instead of the 8V mind you.

Lord Abortion 01-27-2006 03:46 PM

I was taking into account the fact it's the 8VM tour, therefore a slightly higher 8VM percetage.

JamJar 01-27-2006 03:48 PM

I was amazed today to find out that the head of music at my school is a genuine DT fan. I saw a DT dvd in his office and spoke to him about them. Cool.

That's wicked.

They'll never play Space Dye Vest, which is a shame since it's a great track. Kevin turned down Portnoy's proposal to play at the 20th aniversary show so my friend said.

ATC 01-27-2006 03:57 PM

Nooooo, Mike Portnoy's laying down the drums for the new OSI.

Not Sean Reinert :( :upset:

But nothing's up on the site. Hmm. Ze plot, eet thickenz.
