i just bought the greatest looking Tool shirt. It has a red heart on the front with the labeled aeorta and other features
Fix'd for bad use of laguage (NEVER use p h a t again please :thumb: )

All my good tool shirts are risking being over worn and their colours are draining in the wash too much. So they're going out of commission soon.

I wear a lot of shirts in the week. Time to buy more.

The JoZ 04-21-2005 11:56 AM

I think I will do some Tool today, I'm not sure.

Keep refreshing the thread :naughty:

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 11:57 AM

My Tool shirt has holes in it and i dont know why :( and this is like the only tool shirt i have ever found in a shop.

well lets see i have 1,2,3,4,5 shirts now. I lost one from a concert in baltimore i paid 40 bucks for. Pissed me the fuk off really. I understand the "overworn" problem with TOoL, which normally would piss me off, but as long as its not the ænema shirt, I will make exceptions. I take extreme care of all of them, and i only wear maybe 1 or 2 a week. I also have 2 APC shirts i throw in the mix on off days hehehe. They only let me wear t-shirts to work on Friday, so now i got something bad arse to show off :thumb:

I never saw the shirt before, so i had to snap. I love the fact i fit in a medium

I don't really have an addiction to Tool, but they happen to be in my cd player alot and it can be really satisfying.

i went through 3 copies of ænema and im on my 4th. Thankfully i invested in 20 gig mp3 player, so i no longer have to worry about it

clearvision 04-21-2005 12:18 PM

Meh i don't really wear band shirts, or rockish clothes atall. Might get the classic tool shirt one day theback one with the black writing on white background. I can't say im addicted to tool, they are probs my favourite band. But i just roam around lots of different music, at the moment all i seem to listen to is Bjork and Nin...(and some akon :() But tool's albums are just ones where i'll be sitting there thinking what shall i listen to? then will just go with tool because its good. Can't really say i listen to lateralus 4 times a day or anything : \ ...blashphemous :(

Adam Jones is GOD 04-21-2005 12:27 PM

Im past my tool prime for the moment. Discovering bands such as Opeth, Mogwai and Mastadon has sapped my listening attentions elsewhere. In fact, it's been ages since I listened to a tool album on its own.

But that doesnt stop them from being my favourite and most influential band.

The same thing has kind of happened to me too. IE, I don't listen to Tool as much when I drive, cause of stuff like Dream Theater, Unearth, Soilwork, etc.

But Tool is ultimately my #1 band, and nothing will change that, unless their new album blows.

kurrpt 04-21-2005 12:31 PM

i never listen to the whole albums any more. Usually its like 1 track from Opiate, 2 from Undertow, 2 from ænema, and like 2 or 3 from lateralus

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 12:32 PM

How can you go through 3 copies!?! :amaze:

one word........IMPOSSIBLE

Adam Jones is GOD 04-21-2005 12:32 PM

Even if their new album blows, their past will still keep them in favour with me.

Unless Mogwai release an album better than CODY. Or I hear the rest of Opeth's discography and find it just as good/better than what I have.

But no way would I change complete opinion on Tool if their new album fails to hit the mark.

listen to the sh*t outta it (nice english) my bro is a big fan, and I got all my friends into it.

Very carefully my friend

The JoZ 04-21-2005 12:34 PM

I mean, I would still listen to their older stuff...but they'd better do a good job, what with Octavarium coming out in June...

When I bought Train of Thought, it literally didn't leave my car for like two months.

I'm hoping Octavarium is that good, if not better. Same goes for Tool's new album, when it comes out.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-21-2005 12:35 PM
How can you go through 3 copies!?! :amaze:
Lending it out to careless friends
Using a knackered CD reader of some sort
Poor storage
Mistaking it for eMOTIVE

Though i listen to Tool from MP3 format now, so my CD's sit away in my pride and joy CD area of my room

Being in England, Dream theatre really doesnt get sold to me (if you know what i mean) as much as Tool. can you recommend an album that would instantly give me the idea of whether I love or hate them?

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 12:37 PM

Yeah at the moment I am listening to Dream Theater more than Tool. But I still listen to tool quite alot.

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-21-2005 12:38 PM

One thing I don't like about Dream Theater is that they're 'style over substance'. A lot of the solos are NOT well-placed.

Awake.

Their best mix of heavier and lighter songs, I think.

Ill know what im looking for next time i go CD hunting then.

kurrpt 04-21-2005 12:40 PM

tha sad thing is, i never know what bands you guys are talking about. I dont listen to the radio, and i know zero people who listen to that stuff. Dam i need to pirate some music

Adam Jones is GOD 04-21-2005 12:41 PM

Read more threads on mx in general, that';s where i get at least half my music recommendations from. The rest comes from sputnik and MTV2 (which is better in England, trust me)

Personally I think it's hard to say, but Awake is somewhere in the middle between light and heavy, so it works best. The other albums are either centered on being lighter, or heavier.

Moses 04-21-2005 12:42 PM

I really like Dream Theater probably as much as I like Tool, even though I listen to Tool more often. What album is The Glass Prison on? That's the song that really got me into them. That might catch your ear "Adam Jones Is God".

i have every album (dad gave me them all) but i dont think i listened to a single one the whole way through. I love that song, forget which album, found the tab for it (like 20 pages) and cried like a little bitch cause you need a 7 string to play it. I hate fukking petrucci and his dam 7 string guitar i dont have !!!!

kurrpt 04-21-2005 12:46 PM

YTSE jam made me love dream theater. I had every CD and only listened to that track for like 3 months before i started to listen to others. Now i listen to glass prison, that track, and some of the budokahn CD

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 12:47 PM

its on 6 degrees of inner turbulance. I love that song.

The JoZ 04-21-2005 12:48 PM

I will upload TGP for AJIG real quick...

Even though it's not on Awake, it is arguably one of their best songs.

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 12:50 PM

Tgp? Ajig?

Get images and words AJIG, I have awake, scenes from a memory and images and word. I did have 6 degrees but that bored me. Images and words should give you a look at their sound.

EDIT the glass prison is decieving, none of their other stuff matches it.

Dont confuse me  I respect all of your musical recommendations, but dont contradict each other

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 12:57 PM

Joz can you play TGP the whole way through yet? that was your goal at some point i think.

clearvision 04-21-2005 12:59 PM

Meh it is just that i'm not a big fan of awake, and i was reccomended I+W and haven't looked back.

The JoZ 04-21-2005 01:01 PM

Images and Words isn't really heavy at all, AJIG. I don't suggest getting that first, because then you might not like their heavier stuff, which I find to be VERY good.

The Glass Prison isn't totally decieving, most of their later stuff kind of sounds like this.

And no, I cannot play it the whole way through yet, I haven't sat and actually learned the last half of it :(

Adam Jones is GOD 04-21-2005 01:08 PM

Im loving what im hearing. His voice sounds a bit like Yourcodenameis:milo at points (which is good, and im probably the only one who thinks so). And the mixture of solos keeps it fresh for me

Cheers again JoZ. :thumb:

bassist-bmxer 04-21-2005 01:08 PM

I just cant get the bit with the keyboard and guitar solos, it is just to fast for my fingers.
