I love old school thrash (Heathen,Intruder,Metallica, etc) but I was wondering if there are some new thrash bands I should listen to. Thanks for any recommendations in advance.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-12-2006 01:45 AM

Some new thrash bands are:

Municipal Waste
Hypnosia
Violator
Sauron
Incinerator
Speed Kill Hate

Also, I want to get more into Electronica/Trance/Techno or whatever you would call it. All I have is an Infected Mushroom album.
Try:

Pendulum, Aphex Twin, Juno Reactor, Squarepusher DJ Scott Brown, Paul Van Dyk, Shape Shifters and DJ Tiësto.

Oh and Boards of Canada as well.

Oh oh, and Daft Punk. Can't believe I forgot them :(

For run of the mill dance stuff, if you want it, try DJ Sammy, Alice Deejay, Faithless, Michael Gray and Angel City.

Unkle might be worth a shot as well. Edit music for a film and/or Bonus material edit are both awesome and worth a shot. Despite being roughly an hour long each.

Oh yeah, and Goldfrapp.

...And maybes E Nomine as well.

That should probably keep you going for a while.

Legion Of The Damned is excellent. Battered, as well.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-13-2006 10:42 PM

Malevolent Rapture is solid.

Nepenthe 08-13-2006 10:46 PM

Malevolent Rapture is more than solid. Easily the second best thrash release of the 2000's (right behing The Antichrist).

Apocalyptic Raids 08-13-2006 10:48 PM

I wouldn't go that far :p

Nepenthe 08-13-2006 10:50 PM

I would. I really like it.

Permanent Solution 08-25-2006 05:59 PM

Someone recommend me some music like Candlemass' Epicus Doomicus Metalicus.

Shattered_Future 08-25-2006 06:02 PM

Isole - Forevermore
Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror

Those two should do you good, especially the first. One of the best modern doom bands around today.

publicastration 08-25-2006 06:02 PM

^ Candlemass - Candlemass :p

I also highly reccomend Slough Feg - Atavism to all fans of any genre of music.

They're just plain awesome.

Are they actually similar in type to Candlemass though, because I hear Sunn 0))) labeled Doom also and I cannot stand their work so I get confused :(

Sunn O))) is Drone, and offshoot of Doom.

No, these aren't anything like drone. They're very similar to Candlemass, I believe.
What genre are they?
Progressive metal, but they don't sound like anything else that I've heard.

publicastration 08-25-2006 06:16 PM
What genre are they?
Hard to say.

Progressive Folk metal?

But they don't sound like anything else I've heard, you have to hear them for yourself.

JamJar 08-25-2006 06:18 PM

I'm listening to a song on their Myspace now. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's certainly different.

Stoic 08-25-2006 06:21 PM

The mighty Slough Feg? Traditional metal with doom and folk influences. Atavism is a good album but not as good as previous releases.

Freezing Moon 08-25-2006 06:43 PM

If you like Epicus, get Nightfall. If you like those get the first 3 Solitude Aeturnus albums and Solstice - New Dark Age.

Kage 08-25-2006 08:16 PM

I'm really digging Slough Feg! This rules. Perhaps I should have been listening to Steerpike this whole time.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-25-2006 08:33 PM

Slough Feg is awesome.

All must have albums for any metal fan.
