Also, I checked out Sage Francis today. Gigantic disappointment.
Bummer :(
Im a scooby doo fanboy..lol
Scooby-Doo is the shizzle, and no one dares say otherwise.

Velma's a definite dyke, though. She has that butch haircut, long socks, short skirt, has never once shagged Shaggy...
/cartoons
Rocko's Modern Life is untouchable. I miss that show because it was so adult-oriented. I mean, come on, the Chokey Chicken? No ten-year old knows what masturbation is. People relate to stupid bosses, like at Conglom-O. I could go on and on. That show was also the shizzle. I was also a huge mark for 2 Stupid Dogs. Cow and Chicken was annoying and just plain SUCKED.

The crap that's on Cartoon Network now sucks, too, save for The Grim Adventures. Grim rules. He was my avatar once :-D
/Seinfield
Quality.
/other shows that got canned
I liked Freaks and Geeks, and I was sad to find out that Scrubs was going to get cancelled, but they brought it back!
NP: Tribute - Tenacious D
I hope you're laughing because you love the D, not because you're making a mockery of the greatest song in the world
This is what I downloaded today:

/anti-happy holidays music
Morbid
/bands
I could never be in a band because I'd get fed up with someone. I always like having a schedule, but no one ever seems to want to meet deadlines. Plus, there'd be huge disagreements on what to play/write/etc.

Hello, all.

At the risk of breaking my uninterrupted reign of intelligent and witty remarks...

no. i don't even know what that is.

Fun fact: the Four College system in Massachusets is based off the foursome of humans in Scooby-Doo, in terms of the general academic environment and the students who go there. Amherst is Fred, Smith is Velma, Mount Holyoke is Daphne, and Hampshire is Shaggy.

I applied to Hampshire. Someone once got a degree in frisbee throwing there.

EDIT: To Steerpike: ah, now I get it. That's a good one, but I've never seen it.

We have El Mariachi, but I've never watched it. Desperado is my favorite in the trilogy.

Yeah, you have no idea how much hype I heard about this guy when I came in...supposedly his lyrics are great (although I didn't notice anything special about them), and if that's the case, he'd best become a poet and stay far away from a recording studio, because neither he nor his producers would know a good hook if it bitchslapped them in the face.

The debut film of Robert Rodriguez. El Mariachi (literally, "The Guitar Player") is a movie about two drug dealers down in Mexico and a musician.

One drug dealer (Azul) is running his operations out of prison. His former partner, Moco, owes him a lot of money, and opts to kill him off. Azul leaves the prison after killing Moco's men and paying off the guards. He takes up a guitarcase full of weapons and leaves to the town Moco has set up shop in to get his money, even if that means killing him.

Meanwhile, a nameless musician we know only as Mariachi, comes to the town looking for work. But since he, like Azul, always wears black and carries a guitarcase, a case of mistaken identity ensues with lots and lots of violence along the way.

The reason I bring it up is because there is a scene where Mariachi goes looking for work at a bar, but the bartender has already hired a guy with a keyboard that produces the sound of a whole band, though in truth it really sucks.

As he's leaving, Mariachi's narrative describes, "Whatever happened to the days when the guitarists were gods? Like in the days of my ancestors. Technology is slowly robbing us of our culture, turning us into machines."

EDIT: God damn I'm slow tonight.

Cain 12-20-2005 09:17 PM
Amherst as in UMass-Amherst?
It encompasses both the private and public universities at Amherst. Unless the UMass Amherst is intended to stand in for Scooby.

Apparently it's a Five-College system currently but the traditional four college system is still in place and which elicits the comparison.
What is your deal? What's the point of you?
Fix'd.

Yeah, what I said was sort of like that, except in a much less artistic way about a much less artistic enterprise. :p

Aside from that, though, it sounds like a good film. Perhaps I'll check it out.

If nothing else, it will give you some songs to learn. Ganas de Vivir is a beautiful ballad which I'm strill trying to track down a tab for. Until then, I'm just mimicking the movements on the screen.

... Which are really mimics of the actual guiarist who recorded the song. Carlos Gallardo couldn't actually sing or play guitar, so they recorded a real musician they had hired performing it and used a pitch shifter to change his voice to a tenor.

I think there's a small [liberal arts?] college that's simply called Amherst...I'm sure that UMass-Amherst outdates Scooby Doo.

NP: Eminem - Stan

The title sounds familiar. Is it an authentic song? Because there's probably an official transcription somewhere, even though we all hate official transcriptions right about now. :p

Anyways, I'm off for a bit to watch a movie. I'll be on later.

And I'm finally listening to enough music weekly to get a sense of my habits via last.fm, now that I'm home, so I'll be excited to post my stats on Sunday. :)

Steerpike 12-20-2005 09:30 PM

It was recorded specifically for El Mariachi.

Hey guys. I need a little help from you since you're like, good people.

What's the name of that song that's played usually when a wedding is about to start? Much appreciated if you could help me thanks. :)

Wedding march, it's Canon in D major or something around that line.

Thanks for the feedback, though. :)

And I've never heard anything by Finntroll before.

Pretty Rainy this time of the year. I don't know.

I've just always liked how "Italia" sounds, so I put it in my location. Despite I'm not there.
