OK, dude,
1). We're talking like "knobs" because we're being sarcastic right now. I don't really type like that. 2). The whole thread isn't a flame fest, there have been a hell of a lot of pro-Trivium posts in here as well. The point of this thread is to have Trivium discussion. I'd rather not have blatant flaming here, but some people are idiots. 3). Nobody's bitching about them making way more many than anybody else, if somebody hates a band, that shouldn't (and most likely isn't) the reason. You get over it. And they're a fairly new band, dude, even to the mainstream, so I doubt they're making a lot of cash. 4). You can't prove they are much more talented than anyone in this thread, that's just a terrible thing to say over the internet. I'm sure there's plenty of people here that could shred like madmen.
Ah well i got pOwnd :thumb: |
Heading to see Trivium at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth, by the way the earlier sections of the tour have been shaping up it looks set to be a pretty kick *** gig. I've not managed to get hold of Ember to Inferno yet but Ascendancy really sets a standard for the newer bands that have been appearing in the recent past, with more bands that seem to care whether they actually have some kind of thought put into their music the quality looks set to explode again. Not a moment too soon either.

Every single one of those bands considers themselves a part of metalcore. And actually no...I havent just heard Miss Machine, I own their 2 CD's and 1 EP. But anyway. Norma Jean is most defintely metalcore, everything about them is metalcore except for maybe the constant odd timing. Same with the Chariot considering they have the old NJ singer and they sound exactly alike.

I've never heard Trivium position themselves as a metalcore band, I think Matt would be rather peeved at the suggestion, look at his influences and the bands he likes, Converge are not his heroes |

 You haven't been a fan for very long have you. Or at least not enough of a fan to have found out anything about them pre-Ascendancy era. |
So I just watched an interview of matt and here's what he said 2 tracks on the next album that he already wrote would be:
1. Motley Crue sounding song (ehh...) 2. 18 minute 4 part instrumental song (FUCK yeah |

I've been a fan of the band for a while, the only thing I heard was melodicdeathcore, but I think he said that in jest. Not to mention, on ETI, he lists one of his roles as classical guitar, how many bands who want to be considered metalcore list classical guitar as an instrument? That deserves a  |

That deserves a
Tons of bands hail to classical. Take All That Remains for example. On their bio, they essentially said "we are metalcore", and Oli Herbert is a classically trained guitarist, with more classical influence in his songwriting than Trivium could ever hope for. That was a completely ridiculous statement on your part, especially considering the fact that many metalcore bands are classified as such mainly out of their combination of starkly different elements. Like Between the Buried and Me for example.. In fact, even Matt's listing of classical guitar as an instrument on ETI was completely ridiculous, considering that half if not more of the acoustic parts on the album are not performed by him, besides which most of these parts don't even merit the label 'classical'. On Trivium's site, pre-Ascendancy era, they listed themselves as "melodic death metalcore" on the main page, in the short paragraph attempting to describe a band. For a young band like them, at the time trying to get signed and move into a more professional setting, it was obviously not a jest. Before Roadrunner decided to bring up "the next Metallica" gimmick, Matt always listed metalcore and melodeath influences equally high if not higher than the bands thrash influence. The name Trivium itself is derived from the latin word for "a three way intersection", referring to the blend of Melodic Death, Metalcore, and Thrash. While calling Trivium completely metalcore is just ignorant, metalcore is certainly a very strong element of their sound. |
I love the band, Pillar of Serpents, Fugue, A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation, Like Light to Flies and Declaration or some of my favorite tracks.

I've just recently gotten into the band, and I really agree with what you are saying, except for the fact that I see very little hardcore in their music, still they are a great band. |

2. 18 minute 4 part instrumental song
Sounds interesting.... I cant wait  |
Sounds interesting.... I cant wait

wow, now I really cant wait.
Trivium is awesome! To be perfectly honest I had never heard of them up until about 2 weeks ago. But I checked them out; I was an instant fan.
neither can I, its gonna be dope
That motley crue song should be interesting, to say the least. |
That motley crue song should be interesting, to say the least.
they'll pull it off real well I think |
Yeah Most likely.
Ascendancy will keep me satisfied until may. |
Hey everyone, I call for a title change since this is THE trivium thread
I just dont like "The Trivium thread to end all trivium threads" becuase there arnt any other trivium threads, though this may not get an ******OFFICAL******** thread thing, I still think its time for a change anyone else agree or have any ideas? |
Looking forward to the instrumental
|
Sure, let's get the name changed.
I only titled it that way because there were a bunch of lame Trivium threads at the time, and I thought I'd make this one the lamest  |

I also cannot wait to hear the instrumental. "The End of Everything" was a pretty nice start to the album IMO, and I was hoping to here some more of the melodic side of trivium. Dont get me wrong, when I hear trivium I can't help but bang my head. Btw...where did you find that interview Trivium? |
http://metal.4qradio.com/
they have a crap load of interviews of varios metal bands there some really good info outta trivium in the 2 interviews they have |
And yeah, what are some name change suggestions?

THE Trivium Thread or Tribute To Trivium Threads or The "Trivium Rocks" Thread or Trivium Tribunal

thats the best one so far, but people might not know who's it about "Trivium to Inferno" might work |
Just got back from the Ascendancy UK tour, t'was a pretty awesome night all round. I thought that All that Remains and It Dies Today were really good as well, I can't stand it when a great band comes around and brings really crappy support with them. Set list was nicely balanced with a few Ember to Inferno tracks mixed in with the obvious Ascendancy tracks. No Master of Puppets though :(

man that would be sweet to see em cover a metallica song all that remains is one of my fav metalcore bands. i was so suprides to see in his songs (hadent listened too most of there songs) that he does do clean too :amaze: . |
I think that screaming vocal lines work a LOT better when contrasted with a bit of singing, by the same token it only works like that some of the time. Id be surprised if something like Dark Funeral works that way, they're plenty good enough as they are.
