For some reason, I never got that into SITA.... and I seem to love DI much more than most Slayer fans

It's Mr. Gein. The song is about Ed Gein, a very messed up guy. Search for him on Google and you'll see what I mean.

Haha it probably is.... yeah, the kid voices are creepy as hell, I thought when I first heard the song, that it was a mistake and somebody had tried to record over the song

Apocalyptic Raids 06-04-2005 08:55 AM

I'll put in order the albums I have. Not including Decade of Agression or Live Undead.

1. Reign In Blood
2. Haunting The Chapel
3. Hell Awaits
4. Seasons In The Abyss

Also Kittens, I agree about SITA, I never really got into it that much besides War Ensemble, Blood Red and Skeletons Of Society.

You would love Show No Mercy... it is more of a traditional heavy metal sound, less thrashy, more melodic (melodic for Slayer at least, haha), check it out

Apocalyptic Raids 06-04-2005 09:32 AM

I've been meaning to get that album. Definatly one of the numerous gaping holes in my music collection.

After joining this site, the holes in my collection grow bigger daily, so many more great new acts to check out, my wallet is hurting, I need to get a new laptop and memory card, so I can just download albums

Same. I try not to download everything. Which is exactly why these holes are there.

Also, would anyone agree that Tom on SITA sounds almost bored? I get that feeling, compared to Reign In Blood or Hell Awaits.

SITA has a few filler songs I thought, which I never listen to. Hell Awaits was good, but the production is God awful, I don't know how an album could sound so crappy..... Tom's vocals were never a strong point of the band, although his wailing screams were somewhat amusing

You are officially awesome for making this picture.

Wow, this thread is still alive. I'm the threadstarter by the way. I'm surprised this hasen't gotten official'd.

God Hates Us All is sooooo overrated on this board... Slayer's worst album by far

AA-12 06-04-2005 07:07 PM

GHUA is by far my favorite Slayer album, haha.

KittensInMicrowaves 06-04-2005 07:18 PM

Seriously? Have you heard all their older ones? Even judging by the standard of their more modern sound they started in 1994, Divine Intervention is far superior....

I couldn't get into it, although I didn't give it the heavy rotation it probably deserved... plus I had a sh*tty burned copy of it, but still, there were only a few tracks I liked.... I'm one of the few people who loved Diablous in Musica, I thought it killed!

DIM is a great album.

Interstate 06-04-2005 07:27 PM

I'm not a huge fan but I own Reign In Blood and South Of Heaven and they're both excellent (especially the former). It's brilliant to listen to while driving (even if it does make you drive insanely fast)

KittensInMicrowaves 06-04-2005 07:34 PM

TSASI, do you have these albums?

Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Sepultura - Arise

AA-12 06-04-2005 07:47 PM

No Sepultura here.

KittensInMicrowaves 06-04-2005 09:59 PM
No Sepultura here.
Dude, you gotta check them out... better thrash than Slayer, although they are kind of death metal too

Apocalyptic Raids 06-04-2005 10:08 PM

I would only consider Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation death metalish. Although Schizophrenia could be considered death/thrash.

CannibalCorpse 06-04-2005 10:11 PM

AUSHWITZ! THE MEANING OF PAIN THE WAY THAT I WANT YOU TO DIE!!! sorry but yea slayer rules, I think they are the best thrash band out there.

They blur the line, but vox aren't deep enough for DM that's for sure

I cannot get in Divine Intervention. The songs seem good enough but the production is the worst thing i have EVER heard in my life. My god is it terrible. It makes it impossible for me to listen to the album.

AA-12 06-04-2005 11:36 PM

Listen to some Black Metal. :-P

rippa32 06-05-2005 12:46 AM

Whats a good first slayer album to get? Ive heard raining blood and I liked that.
Whats a good first slayer album to get? Ive heard raining blood and I liked that.
raining blood is their best work, but i would recomend you "show no mercy"
to get into slayer.

rippa32 06-05-2005 01:58 AM

Okay thanks.

beardedperv 06-05-2005 05:36 AM

Does no-one like 'Gemini' from 'Attitude'? I have to say, i've never heard toms vocals sound bad live, but then i'm not usually being too critical whenever i get the chance to see them! One of the best gigs i ever saw was them, Sepultura and System of a Down at the London Astoria. Absolutely F***ing superb. Kerry gets a bad rep generally because of the often bone-headed things he says in interviews as much as for his playing; i'm in no position to criticise the latter but occaisionally even i cringe at the stuff he comes out with, and i'm normally the first to rave about Slayer every chance i get...!

KittensInMicrowaves 06-05-2005 01:00 PM
raining blood is their best work, but i would recomend you "show no mercy"

Yeah Show No Mercy has their "catchiest" and most melodic songs, that or Seasons in the Abyss....... Reign in Blood is pure thrash, not much melody, but very good....

Po0sH 06-05-2005 01:01 PM

Man I was blasting raining blood in the car the other day. It was great.

Trapped in purgatory!
A lifeless object alive!!!

Sky is turning red, fall unto me the sky's crimson tears, abolish the rules made of stone!!!

Raining Blood!!! from a lacerated sky.... bleeding its horror, creating my structure, now I shall Reign in Blood!!!!!!!!!1
