I do agree though |
Shut up, manchester is an awesome place to live.
|
In my opinion Alkaline could never go wrong, especially not with the dream team they have made solid with good mourning {matt, dan, derek}. Every album the come out with is so much different from the last, yet still hits that high energy, thought out lyric signiture sound of alkaline. Their new CD crimson is amazing and just shows that this band will be around forever, whether its flirting with the line of mainstream and underground or not, alk3 is a band to remember.

Welcome to the forums, great post.
After listening to every album thoroughly, i can safely say that my favourite CD of theirs is Good Mourning. I can't see how anyone can say it isn't. It's their best lyrically and musically. Favourites are, Emma, Continental, 100 stories, Every thug needs a lady, this could be love and blue on the face. |
Are they going to add an extra date?
They better, goddammit... |
the full band version of blue in the face sounds much better live than the recording i've heard and although it is amazing, the acoustic version on good mourning is still equally sick
|
When i saw thew they played these songs
Time to Waste Poison Mercy Me Maybe I'll Catch Fire Warbrain Clavicle Crawl Emma Nose Over Tail Blue in the Face My Little Needle Mr.Chainsaw I was a Prayer Sadie Back to Hell and a few more I can't remember then for an encore they played Radio and This Could be Love
wow, no private eye, stupid kid, take lots with..., All on black, we;ve had enough? that suxxxxxx |
There still great songs though, what they did play!
But would love to see them play private eye, stupid kid, take lots with alcohol if i was to see them! |
wow, no private eye, stupid kid, take lots with..., All on black, we;ve had enough? that suxxxxxx
Oh yea they played stupid kid forgot to put it on the list.Take lots with alcohol they might have played I dont remember. Yea it was a little dissapointing to not hear private eye and we've had enough but the other songs definitely made up for it |
they didnt play a few songs i hoped for but obviously the show still kicked major ***...no complaints
|
Hmm, only 1 song from FHTI...
|
anybody seen them play sundials live? oh yeah 2 songs i forgot to mention they played here are cooking wine and jaked on green beers
|
wow, i've just listened to FHTI for the first time in ages, this album is awesome, i've never realised how ace it is!
|
My Favourite album. Ever Probably
|
I dunno.
Imo, Good Mourning is far better, MICF is too. And maybe Crimson.. |
Yeah, but when i first bought it i didnt like it that much. I like Crimson and Good Mourning alot though. I think they are all fooking ace. Just never realised that FHTI is also very awesome.
|
I prefer FHTI. I can easily see why someone would like Good Mourning better, and i think that's got the most consistent song writing. However i think FHTI has too many classics in my eyes
|
I really like Crimson, but i'm so dissapointed that there isn't more Dan singing in it...
That's whats great about GM, dan has LOADS of singing parts... And the parts which he does sing, his voice sounds different, softer... |
There's loads of Dan singing isn't there?
Well, loads more joint vocals, way more than Good Mourning. And i think that's one of the best aspects of the record. I bloody love it personally. |
They dont have a bad album.
|
Nah,
Time to waste - Matt The Poison - Dan (but his voice sounds differnet) Burn - Matt Mercy Me - Matt Dethbed - Matt Settle for satin - Matt (Dan, chorus) Sadie - Matt Fall victim - Matt I was a prayer - Dan Prevent his tradgedy - Matt Back to hell - Matt Your neck - Matt Smoke - Dan I'm aware that there are bits where they boith sing or whatever but that's absically it. Mosr songs on Cimrson blur together too. The only songs which i could sing now, form memory is Smoke, Time to waste, the poison, sadie and back to hell. A lot of the songs in FHTI are like that too... |
This could be love - Matt
Weve had enough - Matt One hundred stories - Dan Contintnetal - Matt All on black - matt Emma - Dan Fatally yours - Matt Every thug needs a lady - dan Blue Carolina - Dan Donna Party - Matt If we never go inside - Dan Blue in the face - matt (dead end road - matt) (old school reasons - both) |
Ah right, when you write it down like that, it does seem as if Matt does so much more, but IMO i think it's balanced well, and it's fine like that.
FHTI blend quite a lot, that's the sign of a good album, but the track listing in Good Mourning was sublime. |
I just feel dissapointed with Crimson.
It's less edgy and hard, it's a lot softer and slower it seems too. And both if their vocals have been fu'cked about, and it's sounds so much worse.. |
i like matt's singing voice better than dan's, especially in the earlier stuff...dan has a lisp and thats really noticable on his acoustic song on GD..dan has gotten much better though
|
I don't like Goddamit at all much...
|
Goddammit is my favourite trio album.
But i hate being disappointed with albums. :( |
Woah, your fave ?
Ha, it's definetley my worst. |
i like older alkaline trio a lot but i like newer a lot more...never have they had a bad drummer and dan and matt are amazing at bass/guitar and singing...definately a favorite band for me
|
Woah, your fave ?
Ha, it's definetley my worst.
It's weird, because, when i listen to crimson and good mourning and the like, i love it to bits, but when i go back and listen to goddammit and MICF, i love those too so much more, and two of my favourite tracks are on goddammit: san fransisco & 97. I really overall just love it all equally, but if i had to say a favourite, it would be that one. |
I love MICF.
MICF, F'uck you aurora, Radio and You've got so far to go are all great... |
Off that album i've gotta say My little needle is the best song. I love it!
|
Off that album i've gotta say My little needle is the best song. I love it!
That too. The chord pattern in the verse. <3 |
i know! They are musical genious's!
|
the 2 best things about Radio are 1-the guitar sounds really pretty i really like that i dont know anybody who doesnt like the way that sounds and 2-its a great crowd-participation song for live shows
|
The guitar rife to radio is really cool. Simple, but affective. Ace song.

I got Crimson about a week ago. Its an awesome CD. I've had Good Mourning for awhile, and its a fine CD, I just never really seem to get into it. But Crimson, I can listen to the entire thing and not feel bored towards the end.
I thought "Sadie" was supposed to have a bass solo in it. I could have sworn I heard people talking about it in this thread before Crimson came out. And I didnt realize Dan sang that much. |

There is a bass solo in Sadie, it's not very complex but sounds great, it's when that woman is saying the quote thing. Not exactly a solo but still... |
all sadie is, is a re-recorded version of a song from one of the splits...cant remember which one cause i dont have those. is there really any difference other than quality?
and dan for the most part only sings songs he wrote...buy Halloween at the Metro DVD, listen to audio commentary for a while...i dont know what song they were playing when he said that, but he did somewhere in there...said that because he wrote them he didnt want other people to sing them. |
