could anyone recommend me some forest of shadows?

Reloaded 01-30-2005 02:59 PM

Black Album-metallica

kr3wRIDER 01-30-2005 04:17 PM

im looking for really heavy fast stuff, with no stupid slow parts, songs like "white worms" by cryptopsy, "angel of death" and "necrophobic" by slayer, and "fight fire with fire" by metallica. recommond artists and/or songs. i also like a good fast guitar solo. what i dont want is heavy stuff with a slow tempo. i dont want stuff like "i cum blood" by cannibal corpse because it has too many slow parts. recommend?

munky_magik 01-30-2005 04:18 PM

I imagine Exodus would be good for you.

Moon Flavor 01-30-2005 04:21 PM

I posted this in another thread without much avail. I'm trying to find some more extreme (death or black) metal, here's what I have so far:

Immortal (very good)
Emperor (just now starting to be able to stand it)
Cryptopsy (too **** repetitive, don't like it much)
Arcturus (good stuff)
Mayhem (....yup)
Atheist (my favorite death metal so far)
Carcass (also very good)

And that's about it. What should I go for next?

From Emperor, Immortal, and Mayhem:
Dimmu Borgir
Borknagar
Diabolical Masquerade
1349
Dissection

From Cryptopsy and Atheist:
Cynic
Necrophagist
Deeds of Flesh
Lykathea Aflame

From Carcass(I'm assuming earlier carcass, pre-Heartwork):
Napalm Death
Pig Destroyer

Arcturus:
None that I know of, they're pretty one of a kind.

Thanks, I actually only have Heartwork from Carcass.

In that case you'd want more melodic death bands.

Arsis
In Flames(Pre RtR)
At the Gates
Dark Tranquillity
Arch Enemy
Nonexist

Bartender 01-30-2005 05:45 PM

^Arghoslent too are more than worth checking out for melodic death metal. Incorrigible Bigotry is more or less perfect, in my opinion.
could anyone recommend me some forest of shadows?
I only have their Where Dreams Turn to Dust EP, but it's very good. It's just three songs;

Eternal Autumn
Wish
Of Sorrow Blue

but it comes to about half an hour of music.

In fact, I'll upload Wish for you to check out. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Current blues-rock bands of the same lineage as say Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath without pretending to be them

I knew I was forgetting something. That's one of the best albums I've heard in a long time.

jimiandangus12 01-30-2005 07:59 PM

Can anyone recommend me what to get for my first Opeth album, thanks.

Iron Man 01-30-2005 08:04 PM

Probably Blackwater Park

 actually I'm fully stocked with melodic death, thank you very much. I didn't think to put that, because it's really not that extreme...

Moon Flavor 01-30-2005 08:05 PM
Probably Blackwater Park
Definitely Blackwater Park

jimiandangus12 01-30-2005 08:36 PM

Also, does anyone have a suggestion for my first In Flames cd, thanks.

The Jester's Race

And not should that be your first In Flames Cd, but it should be your last, cuz that IMO is the only good release of In Flames (as it is a great release)

ytsedrummer 01-30-2005 09:07 PM

Clayman or Soudtrack To Escsape.

LeperAffinity 01-30-2005 09:16 PM

Colony.

kr3wRIDER 01-30-2005 10:45 PM

what in flames songs should i get apart from the ones i already have (jotun, cloud connected, stand ablaze, the hive, episode 666, embody the invisible, moonshield)

and what is the ABSOLUTE FASTEST, most brutal death metal band out there? and what are some good songs by that band?

CaptainWaits 01-30-2005 10:53 PM
what in flames songs should i get apart from the ones i already have (jotun, cloud connected, stand ablaze, the hive, episode 666, embody the invisible, moonshield)
Artifacts of the Black Rain, Lord Hypnos, December Flower, Wayfaerer, Gyroscope
and what is the ABSOLUTE FASTEST, most brutal death metal band out there? and what are some good songs by that band?
There is no one definitive fastest band, but it'd probably be something highly technical. Check out

Cryptopsy:
Slit Your Guts
Open Face Surgery
Back to the Worms
Crown of Horns
Phobophile
My Prodigal Sun

Wormed:
Tunnel of Ions
Pulses in Rhombus Form

The Berzerker:
Reality
No One Wins
Massacre

Deeds of Flesh:
Infested Beneath the Earth
Summarily Killed
Indigenous to the Appalling

I know there's tons more, but it's late and my mind's not working.

On a side note, can someone recommend me good Doom besides Candlemass(Whom I'm already familiar with)?
