Would it be a good idea to make a "Punk Forums New Years Resolutions" thread.
In here you would make suggestions that you think would make our community a better place too post. When it hits new years eve, i'll make a list of the top 5 things people would do to improve the punk forums. Anybody think this idea is good?
Let's do our new year's resolutions (our real life ones) instead. That would be a really fun thread.

There's not much cleaning up to be done around here anyway.

obese_breasts 12-25-2005 11:46 PM

Yeah, a forum improvement Resolution Thread seems a little unnecessary. I'd allow a personal New Years Resolution thread. I'm sure they have been done in the past and seems like it would be a good thread until it got spammy.

TakeWarning 12-26-2005 12:07 AM

So Shtein is doing it right?

AIRIC 12-26-2005 12:08 AM

Lets do it.

Anti-Prefix 12-26-2005 12:14 PM

Nick and Griff, could we please have a vegan/vegetarian thread? We've only had threads that turned into them, and they are pretty fun. I think we should try one. Let me know on Soulseek, or here.

obese_breasts 12-26-2005 01:45 PM

I'd be fine with it. I think it would be good to have that kind of discussion centralized.

We had one a long time ago, and it turned into a hate fest between users. Stuff like Veganism and Straight Edge aren't discussed well in the forums because everyone has their opinions and no one is changing and it just breeds more and more hate.

And about the forum improvement resolutions, we've had a 'what could be done better with the forums' thread before and most of the suggestions were a) really stupid (i.e don't close any threads, don't ban any users), b) have been implemented. So I don't think a whole new thread would do any good.

We should have one but anyone who comes into the thread just to diss the vegetarians/vegans they should be banned for one day, no exceptions.

Yeah, maybe we should have another one in 4 or 5 months time or something.

Anti-Prefix 12-27-2005 09:02 AM

Nick, I do think we should give it a shot. I think we need more substantial threads. The forum has definitely been lacking them lately. This would do a very good job in augmenting the forumers even more. It isn't that big of a deal to try it, if there's a bad incident then we'll close it. Simple as that. I can make the thread and it's rules will be specific and the ramifications will be spelled out.

What do you say? :)

TakeWarning 12-27-2005 09:09 AM

I'm all for it.

Yeah, sorry about that.:thumb:

A-Life-Less-Plagued 12-27-2005 11:11 PM

Move the thrash thread over to hardcore cause it'll actually get discussion there which we so desperately need.

Shtein 12-28-2005 07:27 PM

ban, for being a bundle of sticks

can the social issues thread be stickied? if it stays spam-free its a good medium for intelligent conversation on issues that would otherwise be deemed inappropriate in the community thread.

No use in being stickied. really, If its good it wont fall from the front page.

Why sticky it? It will stay on the first page just fine. People rarely read stickies also.

Let's Chop Cats! 12-29-2005 02:49 PM

Nick for your benefit go read PJ.
thats true, the blue sputnik one is really irritating to the eyes. Can the default colour be changed to the grey/white mxtabs colours like how it used to be?
I meant on PJ. Sorry. My default one is still the MX tab style one on here though. Go to the very bottom left and you can choose what skin you want.:thumb:

thanks, but it always resets to the sputnik one every time i sign in, how do i make it automatically go to the mx one? or do i just have to change it manually every time?

User CP -> Edit Options -> all the way the bottom Forum Skin: Polished White and Gray -> Save Changes

sketchyjoe 12-30-2005 06:27 AM

There's also the options to change it at the bottom left of every page.

Can someone combine the Religion vs Punk thread with the Social Thread please?

Brain Toad 12-30-2005 04:40 PM
There's also the options to change it at the bottom left of every page.
He wanted to know how to change it indefintely, the one on the bottom will revert back to the one selected in your CP after you log out and log back in.

holy_roller99 01-04-2006 02:51 PM

shouldn't we sticky the community thread. it makes sense since it has been one of the most used threads in the forum and considering it is done on most other forums.

Let's Chop Cats! 01-04-2006 02:53 PM

No, it keeps on the first page easy enough that there is no need to clutter the top with more stickies.

Brain Toad 01-04-2006 04:19 PM
No, it keeps on the first page easy enough that there is no need to clutter the top with more stickies.
^^^

Threads also seem to die when made stickies. The only reason to really stick y ahtread is if it's temporarily important (main threads for polls, joe's quiz, etc.) or if it's an important thread that if it wasn't stickied no one would use it (Forced Listening, the rules)
