I've got the whole thing too. Their first demos are barely audible, it's pretty cool. I'm currently listening to the pissing poor production on "Invoking the Unclean", what I think is their first ever demo. Now that's raw and necro.

DavidFilth 09-23-2005 02:58 PM

They were much more "Thrash" at the time, well I will put up the review here tommorrow!

Oh yeah, the quality of sound is....well you know!

Lord Abortion 09-23-2005 02:59 PM

TFD was a death metal demo...

DavidFilth 09-23-2005 05:43 PM

Yeah, Dani's vocals were more "Dying Fetus" than now.......but the guitar work really reminds me of slayer, epecially Black Goddess Rising, which is off another demo, not "Invoking the Unclean".

Shadows 09-23-2005 05:48 PM

Black Goddess Rising was also on The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. Best song on the album too.

DavidFilth 09-23-2005 05:55 PM

"Bitter Suites to Succubi" had a really good remake of BGR, with little changes in song structure; it's just in better sound quality!

Shadows 09-23-2005 05:57 PM

I hated the BStS remake of it. :( Almost as much as the remake of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh.

Did you like The Principle of Evil Made Flesh as a whole album? Because I think it's Cradle's best album ever.

I hate those remakes, they ruin it.

I do like, but I think it's one of their weaker ones. I like Dusk and Midian the best, but I love all of their albums.

Lord Abortion 09-25-2005 10:19 AM

I like The principle.. it's great.

Their only true BM album.

/just ordered the newcastle tickets :D

You even love ****ation and a Day? Most people hate that one.

I quite like DAAD...but it's not as good as other albums...it's a bit meh for me.

Shadows 09-25-2005 11:05 AM
You even love ****ation and a Day? Most people hate that one.
Yes I do. It took me a while to get into, because at first I felt the orchestra was a little ridiculous and there are more 'meh' songs than usual. Now I think the orchestra wasn't overdone at all, and although there are several 'meh' songs, there are some incredible songs to balance it out very well.

Thor 09-25-2005 11:09 AM

TPoEMF was just a masterpiece, plain and simple. I think I'm gonna have to make a review for that because you only gave it a 3.5 out of 5.

Shadows 09-25-2005 11:11 AM

Go right ahead. I think it's one of their weakest albums personally, hence the 3.5/5. I should re-write DaaD because I think it's at least a 4 now.

Huber 09-25-2005 11:17 AM

Yeah, it was pretty raw and all that, but it wasn't all to great. 3.5/5 sounds
about right.

Midian, Dusk and Her Embrace, and ****ation and a Day will always be my favorites, though Nymphetamine is growing on me A LOT.

Shadows 09-25-2005 11:25 AM

Nymphetamine has some ****ing incredible lead/harmonized riffs. The only thing I didn't like about that album was Dani's vocals - he was holding back and din't use his really scream like in the past. Other than that the album was perfect. At least a new album is in the works - I'm excited already.

The guitar on Nymphetamine is better than any other guitar work they have ever done...
Maybe apart from the first album...
Filthy little secret is a prime example of this...

Shadows 09-25-2005 11:48 AM

 I thought the guitar work on the first album was their most simplistic.

Nymphetamine had amzing guitar like Filthy Little Secret, Nemesis, Absinthe With Faust, Medusa and Hemlock, etc. Some brutally catchy stuff there.

Simple but effective especially on TFWMN and TPOEMF.

I thought that some of the guitar work in Midian was pretty impressive.

But if you want awesome bass, TPoEMF is awesome. :thumb:

Midian = teh pwnage! :eek:

Agreed, so many songs on there are awesome. Lord Abortion (the song ) is by far the coolest CoF song I have ever heard. The part where Dani is rapping with the drums and cello is awesome! :D

My heart was a wardrum beat
By jugular cults in eerie jungle vaults
When number thirteen fell in my lap
Lips and skin like sin, a Venus Mantrap
My appetite whetted, storm crows wheeled
At the blurred edges or reason 'til I was fulfilled
Whors d'oeuvres eaten, I tucked her into
A grave coffin fit for the Queen of Spades
She went out like the light in my mind
Her face an avalanche of pearl, of ruby wine
Much was a flux, but the mouth once good for ****s
Came from retirement to prove she had not lost her touch
I kissed her viciously, maliciously, religiously
But when has one been able to best seperate the three?
I know I'm sick as Dahmer did, but this is what I do
Aah, aah, ahh, I'll let you sleep when I am
Through

Those are CoF's coolest lyrics.

Shadows 09-25-2005 12:27 PM

Dani is the best metal lyricist alive. His lyrics on every song on album are incredible. Midian I think had some of the best.

Agreed. People complain too much about his voice but they never actually bother to read what he is saying.

That's the reason I post with this username, that piece of music embodies all I love about metal.

Lyrics, are just incredible...

Shadows 09-25-2005 12:29 PM

It'a amzing! Every song has two pages worth of music.

I always thought he had a great voice as well. I'm really excited about the new album as it has an instrumental played by the band, which they've never done before.

Awesome. I'd like to hear an instrumental from these guys.

I like Cradle of Filth a lot because each album is very different. When you get a new album of their's it's as though your getting into a new kind of music, and not just checking out more material by a band you like.

I'm glad that Cannibal Corpse lryics don't embody what you love. :thumb:
