Well, the options he laid out to them is mod me or pixies, or super mod DFelon. Since DBJ isn't fond of adding new mods at the moment, I figure DFelon will just be supermodded, which is what Burt wanted most anyways I think.

Why pixies? I'm sick of mods who don't participate in the communities they are modding. All three of them (burt, pixies, and dfelon) are very active in the Lyrical Challenges, but rarely post in the actual forum unless it's to flame people. Whatever. :|

Well, because the LC needs more actual modding than the forum proper does. I'd like to see them more in here too, but they don't have to be to be effective mods, so that's how it goes. As long as the job is getting done I don't think it matters that much does it?

the reason we don't talk is because this forum has descended into idiocy. I've been involved with most of the main actions Burt's taken in S&L and also I've been in the S&L forum for a year and 1/2. Anyways, I don't even know if I would want to be mod.

I think her point was that the current regular users in this part of the forum are not keen being modded by someone they don't see a lot, but Im sure I'm seen the same way in the LC, so there's nothing to really do about it, save post here more and just ignore the idiots :)

I thought Burt was doing a rather good job at modding after he got over being too controlling. There's really not much spamming going on in the threads or forum in general anymore, except for the occasional idiot or REALLY bad thread that people want to joke about. I'd be fine with DFelon as a mod.

Ok. The regular users are idiots and spammed up the site before Burt made them stop. Therefore they have no discussion in who should be mod. Also, no users have input in who becomes mods, it's all up to DBJ and the rest of the mod staff.

The regular users also wrote articles on how to properly critique for n00bs to read, gave in depth criticisms to pieces, and put thought and effort into what they did outside of the community thread. Users do have input on who becomes mod actually, if everyone in the forum protests a mod, things do happen. See: Eric, LR. It's not up to you to decide whether or not they do get a say, it's up to Jim whether or not to hear their voices. Don't assume they have no input, they do, Jim makes the final call, but the forum users also talk to Jim and so through that they get their say.

The forum has descended into idiocy, you are correct. To the point there are hardly any regulars left, be it veterans or newer people. MX has enough moderators who don't participate enough. In a forum like S&L, it would be nice to have a respected moderator who critiques songs and offers helpful and informative advice. Unfortunately we don't have that anymore (I'm not sure if we ever did), and the users who used to fill that position have come and gone. Having moderators who lurk, close bad threads and ban stupid users is all well and good, but I'd like to see someone bring a little something extra to the table.

As for the selection of moderators, users do have a say. DBJ respects the opinions of veteran users, and people who know what they are talking about. Granted it isn't the only source of nominations for mods or for opinions on the matter, but users' opinions are valued by DBJ, and I'm sure by MX as well, to some minor degree.

Creating guidelines and spamming at the same time is useless. Previous to the new flood of S&L "regulars" we had a fine program set up. Members like Thevermiciousknid, Benbaker06, Gaslight: All of those guys were great critics and also didn't feel the need to spam up and be like lolz, kitten - aperfectsonnet lolz, fur - morrissey, lolz, dog - mshort. You guys acted like idiots for numerous months so I'm going to treat you like idiots. Also, sure users have some input but in most cases their opinions only strength DBJ's thoughs. See NPC's modding and Burt's to an extent. They both weren't the best users but are two of the better mod and most users were against them being modded. Were they demodded? No.

Anyway, I don't feel like arguing.

If you're spamming up one thread that got deleted you'd think you might get over that? I'm saying outside of the one thread they were good users. That's like me judging someone being a bad user by only reading stuff they do in the pit, it's just an unfair assessment. All those members haven't been here for longer than I've been here. There are great users who don't spam, don't get me wrong, but spamming up one area doesn't make someone a bad user. NPC is an awful example if the number of users petitioning for him to be de-modded is any indication. NPC hasn't been de-modded because he's improving and I don't think DBJ is the sort of guy to punish you when you're trying. You named some examples where users opinions didn't affect their modship, I named some that did, so let's agree it swings both ways.

No I just find it funny because I had the most posts in the thread, so I'm curious what differentiates me. I'm not saying I should be on there, I'm wondering why I'm not if they are though?

To be fair, we had several of those, and they went on for about 3 months. Same thing happens to threads in R&M in 10 pages. Maybe I'm just more used to it, but I don't think those threads were "wrecked." But R&M is almost as bad as the pit so maybe I'm a little jaded to it.
