/applauds Awesome FA man, I can see you really did your research. They aren't my favorite band in particular, but I listen to them now and then, and they always get me going. :thumb: |
Patience is pretty easy on guitar.
|
man axl... sure has grown somewhat of a beard. i though he ditched his dreads.
|
Yeah, what he said. SCOM is fun to play on guitar. GNR tab books here are so expensive. Around 40 CA dollars, which is a rip off.
|
Guns N' Roses was probably the best band to come out of the 80's. I admire Slash's work more than almost any other guitarist
|
Even Frusciante?!
Sometimes I agree, but both the Illusions have too much crap on them to elevate above AFD.
For guitar songs: Everything on Lies is pretty straightforward. Otherwise, You Ain't The First, It's So Easy, Think About You. Aside from the leads, most of GnR's stuff is very straightforward, more punk than metal.
Yeah, Illusions 1 definatley has more filler than 2 though. I suppose I agree, AFD is definately the best solid album for it's consistency but as far as excluded tracks go UYI2 takes the biscuit. Thanks for the song suggestions, I will give them a try tomorrow when I have some free time. I got the book for Christmas so I didnt have to pay anything for it :p It feels good to actually discuss the band, this thread is used more as a news update thread. |
There's not much news to talk about either..
I borrowed a GNR tab book from the library and had it for months. My dad made me return it though. Good luck with learning songs and whatever. |
Remind me to update you all on the Adler's Appetite situation later; it's hilarious. Also there's a rumour circulating that Axl and Zack de la Rocha will be on the cover of March's Rolling Stone w/ interviews.
I heard that he sacked the line-up, but don't pay much attantion to what is going on with them. I have a few songs on my computer, they seem alright but nothing special.
That would be quality if Rolling Stone got an interview, I'd love to read that as I really don't know what's going on in his head. I guess Zack and Axl are two of the most influential frontmen their have been, but they just sort of dissapeared. |

The G.G. Allin one   |
http://www.mygnr.com/news/2005/20050104.html
I remember seeing this a while back. The Nirvana one sounds so appealing, you get a picture of a naked baby, and then when you turn it on you get Courtney Love Shouting at you...
|
awesome, I have always wondered what that session with VR would have sounded like.

Hey Spat Out Plath, I was just checking news on my usual GnR news site and they made a reference to your news article on Sputnik. you're like totally famous. |
Haha.. yeah, wow, he's so famous now.
|
He probably won't re-appear on MX again though, he'll be too busy having lunch with Slash and doing various other famous person activities.

Has anyone heard of Gn'R songs called Strip Bar or Marc Walkin? A friend of mine just sent them to me and according to him they are supposed to be one Chinese Democracy.
They are really bad but it's definately Axl singing so yeah... Anyone heard of them? I doubt they are for CD. |

Another friend. Marc Walkin is better quality than Strip Bar but neither song is overly good.
|
Another friend. Marc Walkin is better quality than Strip Bar but neither song is overly good.
At most, they are provbably just a few lacklustre demos which will never make the album. I have never heard those tracks mentioned in suggested tracklists e.c.t
|
Did you manage to get your hands on that Izzy album you were looking for a while back?
|
Which album was that?

bit of news.... |
oops, I suck at up to date news.
|
No, you're up to date. But the website hasn't been updated since at least October- I'm just wondering why none of the news sites picked it up until now.
I'd say because of the whole re-appearance of Axl thing over the last month, some people might actually care about that sort of news at the moment.

According to the Sterling Sound web site, one of George Marino's current projects is GN'R. The following is listed under his current projects:
Artist Title Label Genre Country Date GUNS' N ROSES UNRELEASED ALBUM UNIVERSAL HEAVY METAL USA 2005-11-17 To see the listing, you need to navigate to the listing of his titles (Sound Enginers -> George Marino -> Titles -> Current Projects). Update: According to GN'R's management, this is NOT "Chinese Democracy" like it's been reported on other web sites. Stupid megaupload ads. Thanks for that video though.

Here's a little update from Kevin Lawrence on the Rapidfire demos, featuring Axl, that were originally planned for release in 2005:
The tracks are still being mixed in Los Angeles and the CD covers are being designed. Apparently Axl wants to stop the release. According to Kevin, Axl's voice sounds a bit "more Rob Halford" compared to his voice Appetite For Destruction. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A little Matt Sorum mention in this article about The Cult: --- Duffy, meanwhile, has stayed busy with a number of projects, including Circus Diablo, a group he co-founded with Morrison and guitarist Ricky Warwick. The trio has recruited Sorum--whose main gig now is manning the kit for Velvet Revolver--to play drums on a 6-track EP due out this summer, according to the band's website. No word yet on who will handle the drums and bass on The Cult's upcoming trek. |
wow, great video.I've only seen them play that live on the "illusion II" DVD. is it just me, or did Gn'R sound better with that singer? who was that?
