I love Echos lyrics, I would say the lyrics for 'Calogne' are by far the weirdest. |
have been my favorite band and guitar inspiration for years.
einziger is great, he can play any style and maybe he likes effects alot, but good for him. He can shred like crazy but plays more melodically usually and fits in with the particular song and band. i think the old albums are fantastic, and don't care for southern girl and here in my room on the new albums. favorites to play are favorite things, take me to your leader, nice to know you, pistola, and new skin/idiot box. enjoyincubus! I like them becuase they do not follow trends, and they actually are original and good. (did you see einziger on "cribs" he has cut off pants turned into shorts when he could be wasting money like crazy... i like how the band is humble and realizes that everyone is human and deserves respect. They have a very real and focused energy in their music. |

An angel that has become so obsessed with women that it starts raping them, and is banished to hell, where it continues to wreak havoc on the many laides throughout our good planet. |
I read somewhere that it was a demon that impregnates women in their sleep.
It used to be a good excuse for women who had affairs. |
hey all...just made a incubus vs. radiohead poll in the alt/indie forum...try to vote..thanks
Here's a new idea... instead of your favorite song outta eveything how bout your favorite track on each record... ??
Fungus - Speak free Enjoy - Hilikus/ version/ hot dancer Science - Glass/summer romance/redefine Make You - Clean/i miss you/ stellar/ the warmth morning - 11am/aqueous trans/ echo/ umbrella crowleft - sicksad/priceless/pistola/leech other - 4th movement/ familiar/ crowded elevator/ pantomime another thing...i love the Incubus/Big Pun "still not a player" fusion...came out years before that linkin park/ Jay z crap.. |
Crow Left... is excellent!
It takes a while but it really grows on you. In fact, I've had it on repeat for about the last six days. In my humble opinion, it's their best album - Make Yourself, Science etc are all good but they grow tiresome fairly quickly. Not so with A Crow Left of the Murder. Incubus have been a big inspiration to me - Before I heard "Nice to Know You" and then "New Skin" (I missed the bandwagon) I'd pretty much given up on playing, but Jose Pasillas got me right back into it. They're a very good bunch of musicians from a technical standpoint, and whilst they're far from everybodys favourite band - and Brandon's screaming girl fan club ruins their credibility a bit - they're one of the few bands whose music has actually had a significant effect on me as a person. Weird, but there you go... |
^^ haha welcome to the club

parently incubus chose the name by flicking through a dictonary and choosing the first name they saw, i dont think they choose it for its meaning :p |
Has anyone checked out the ACLOTM DVD? It has footage of them in the studio, great stuff.
|
No, but their DVD stuff tends to be good. Like the Red Rocks video. Holy crap, Sick Sad Little World was amazing in that show.

What would be a good range of songs to try listening to for a relative newbie to Incubus?
I recommend: You will be a Hot Dancer, Hilikus, Sink Beneath The Line (Fungus Amongus). Deep Inside, Calgone, Anti-gravity Love Song (S.C.I.E.N.C.E). The Warmth, Nowhere Fast, Drive (Make Yourself). Circles, Just a Phase , Aqueous Transmission (Morning View). Sick, Sad, Little World, A Crow Left of The Murder, Talk Shows on Mute (A Crow Left of The Murder). That should be enough for you to get to know the band. This variety of songs will show you how much Incubus changes their style through their albums. :thumb: |
Last week I got my first Incubus album. It was Morning View. Major thumbs up. I'm picking up another by the end of this week.
