Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower - Vulture Kontrol
The song starts with a big simple bassline with some feedback and rustling cymbals before a pause and the music and vocals kick in. In a word, it's chaotic. It's very reminiscent of Melt Banana with abrasive vocalsm seemingly random bursts of screeching (and sometimes tuneful) Guitar-noise over the pounding bass. There is some structure to the song but the style of music obscures it. There's quite a mellow section around 1:30 where the singer sounds like he's having a seizure which builds back into the original music which continues to the end in it's ramshackle way. I like this song as it's one of those songs that constantly feels like it's on the verge of disintegrating. This is a pretty cool song but it's definitely an acquired taste. If you like Melt Banana and other noise stuff you'll like it but it probably wouldn't convert someone who isn't into this sort of music. 7/10 Choose from: The Max Levine Ensemble - Leopard Print Girl (Punk) The Four-Eyes - R&R Martian (Punk) Mischief Brew - Roll Me Through The Gates of Hell (Folk-Punk) The Nuns - Wild (Punk) The Two Gallants - Fail Hard to Regain (Folk-punk) YSI: hxxp://s26.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2IU85DJVK62M728XG6SZ4DBFA5 Soulseek: sketchyjoe Gmail: sketchyjoe |

The song begins with moderatley grizzly vocals reminiscent of Jake Burns (Stiff Little Fingers). Soon however the song changes pace and becomes a classic example of a folk punk song. The tempo changes several times during the song though it transistions nicely each time. The bassline is particularly catchy. Lyricly the song contains all the nessecary parts of a good folk punk song, catchy nonsensical lyircs sung with goofy passion covering such topics as anarchism, rebellion, and dedication. The female backup vocals add a nice touch as well. Around 2:20, the song briefly cuts to a the sound of laughing and the clinking of glasses. This section, though short, adds a great deal to atmosphere of the song. Anyone who enjoys bands like This Bike is A Pipe Bomb will enjoy this song. 9/10 Confront- Blue Collar Boy (hardcore-punk) Action- Nobody's Fodder (street punk) Beware of the Dog- Immortal (heavy alt) Wire- Mannequin (Experimental Punk) YSI link=http://s51.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0JI60UEMOWDAA1PU37B7OYO5XS IM= MattIsAJerkX |

Starts of with slowishly played cleanish chords. When the drums come in after a few seconds it just sounds like an indie-pop song rather than punk. The singer starts a few seconds after this, and he has a good voice, not annoying in anyway. Theres some good 'oooooh's coming from the backing singer midway into the it. Its pretty much the same throughout. Its a pretty good song but not really my thing. I wont be listening to any more of their stuff 6/10 My songs William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Trance) Radiohead - Karma Police (Alt) |

The song starts with a long slow intro on piano and guitar. It's not particularly bad but it's not exactly exciting either. It's just meh. The vocals and drums kick-in at the same time. I don't like Thom Yorke's voice. It just's too strained and whiny for my liking. Maybe it's just me but the drums sounded far too loud on the version I was listening to. The song continues in the same vein. There are periodic spooky noises in the background that do nothing for the song. This song has a fairly predictable sequence of quiet acoustic section (usually with some trite phrase repeated over and over again) building up into some big 'inspirational' crescendo. Thom Yorke's voice is quite different in these sections but somehow still equally annoying. The song builds up fizzles out to the sound of feedback. This song sounds like every other indie song of the last 5 years. It just did nothing for me at all. 3/10 Nob Dylan and his Nobsoletes - Desolation Twist (Punk): hxxp://s24.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3ISAC4MUX6NSB28RVOQGO7ET1G |

Starts off with a short ring on the guitar. I can tell it's already going to be a good rock/punk song I'll enjoy. It quickly turns into the guitar riff for the verse, then after a measure or so the bass, drums, and vocals come in. The verse is catchy and a bit poppy, and it doesn't sound like nothing new, but I still like it alot. The vocals fit the song well. After the verse, the chorus comes in and sounds almost like the verse, but changed up just a little bit. So far the songs sounds a bit anthemic, and I'm still liking it alot. The chorus ends with a small guitar riff, then goes right into another verse. The verse riff is getting a bit annoying and repetitive already.. It goes from verse, to chorus, verse, to chorus, and it's starting to get really annoying. Too long of a song without much of a variety. I'm already half way through the song, and nothings changed too much. I'm getting sick it already. Can't they at least add a solo in there already? I've already lost track of how many verses/choruses they've been through. I skipped through 1/3rd of the song towards the end. FINALLY. Somewhere near the end the little guitar riff after the chorus goes into a solo. I like it alot, and it's happy for my ears to finally listen to something different. After the solo, it goes into another verse, but this time it's more powerful. After a little bit longer, it adds another solo in at the end of a chorus until the end. Finally. It's over. I can go back to my three minute song again. It was a good song, but WAY. TOO. REPETITIVE. At least for me. Somewhere between the first eight or so verses/choruses I started to loose it. I'm going to check out more by this band, but I'm staying away from this song. 5.5/10 Recommended Songs: The Plastmatics - "Prisoners of the Dåmned" (Metal/Punk) Showcase Showdown - "Tonight, Tonight" (Punk) XTC - "Statue Of Liberty" (New Wave) The Stranglers - "(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)" (Rock/Punk) AIM: PoliceOnMyBack69 Email: k77weasel@yahoo.com |
The Stranglers - Grip
The song starts off with a quiet guitar part playing a repeating riff, and a chord progression being played on an organ. When the vocal's come in, the guitar doesn't change much, but the organ part changes, leaving the chord progressions and going rather wild. The organ, being a rarity in punk, gives the song a definite unique feel. A little less then 1:30 into the song, the vocals cut out, and a a "OOOoooo" backround vocals comes in, and this is then followed by an organ solo, which inturn is followed by a little solo on what sounds like a solo, and then the organ again. The vocals come back around 2:30. During the chorus I notice a sax part in the backround, which may of been there in the first chorus, but I didn't notice it before. The backround "OOooo's" come in again after the verse, and lead out the song. I really liked the song: very original for the genre, and while different from Peaches (my only exposure to the band prior), I still met my expectations for the band. 9/10. This song is insanely calming. I can listen to it over and over and still feel a relaxing state come upon me. The vocals from both singers (male and female) merge perfectly whether someone is humming along as the other is singing or whether both of them are singing at once. Both of them are clearly very talented vocally and their pitch during the song is excellent. The drums and piano help to expand the calming effect even more than the vocals alone. The chorus is my favourite part of the song because as one singer is singing "Did you get my message?" the other singer is humming "Ooooooh" "Aaaaaaah".The song is 3:59 and the time passes by alomst too quickly while you are enoying it. Overall, I really enjoyed this song and I think I will be listening to it alot more today. 8/10 Kanye West - Roses (Hip-Hop) Jets To Brazil - Sweet Avenue (Indie) The Fall Of Troy - Whacko Jacko Steals The Elephant Man's Bones (Experimental) The Goons - Toy Soldiers (Punk) Melt Banana - Lost Parts Stinging Me So Cold (Japanease Noise Rock) MSN: lol_gamer@hotmail.com Soulseek: Rockafella99 |

So I see this band has a thread in Hardcore/Emo and the song name was intresting so I decided I'd check it out. Starts off quickly with a burst of music. The vocals are instantly in the song and they are really stereotypically hardcore/emo type stuff. He switches between that kind of melodic whine and screaming, and it's kind of annoying. Music wise is ok, the guitar has some nice little riffs. Is there two singers? It seems there might be because the switching between the high pitched whine and screaming is so fast it doesn't seem like one person. I don't like this very much, its really chaotic except repeative and the guy's voice(s) are really annoying. There is a little guitar solo thing that was kind of silly but stupid, then it goes into a heavyier part that for some reason sounds like System of a Down. It's going all over the place but it still fails to really impress me. The song then starts slowing down and just kind of fades to little weird guitar noises. Then the guitar alone, then the bass comes in, followed by drums. This part is okay, I like the slow building up, but what are they building up to? Keeps building some more with two guitars trading high played lines, then into distorted chords and heavy playing. Then back to slow again with a little bass solo type thing, then the guitar comes in and cuts off the bass solo. This part of the song is better, and made better by the complete lack of singing. Spoke too soon, here he comes again. I really don't like his voice it turns me off from the song a lot. Then into what I think is the chrous, but I'm not sure. Then it ends, thankfully. 5/10, that insturmental part saved it from being any lower You will listen to: None More Black - Bizarro Me (Melodict Hardcore) Soophie Nun Squad - Bonzo Goes to Bitburg (Folk-Punk Ramones Cover) Dick Dale - Riders in the Sky (Surf) Wicked Tinkers - Wallop the Cat (Scottish Pipe and Drums, and Didgeridoo) The Prodigals - Spancil Hill (Celtic Rock) Soulseek: Brain Toad Email: braintoad@gmail.com If you email me you will get a link to the song on my server since thats easist for me |

Yay, Fat Wreck band! Starts with a little rock'n'roll riff and tom-rhythm on the drums. Vocals come in, and I remember that I love NMB's vocals. Back beat on the drums, leads into the bass being emphasized (weird bass riff though). Into a more catchy part, that I'd say is the chorus, though it's a bit short, and quickly becomes a guitar part with a slightly different time signature. It's pretty simple, and not too ear-pleasing. Back to verse, which has been the best part so far. The awkward bass verse returns (and I don't like it), and the catchy chorus part again. This time the chorus is repeated, and it's a good chorus. Of course, there's the guitar part again. They seem kinda restricted by song structure, but it's not too bad. Some chords with octaves and we're out. I've heard way better NMB songs - this one was, quite frankly, pretty bland. Not bad per se, but not really good. 5/10 You get to choose from these; Protest the Hero - Nautical Zero Down - The Way It Is Rebuke - Dictionary |

Feedback introduces the song before the music kicks in. It's fairly standard punk music but it's well done and I enjoyed it. The lyrics are political and pretty cool with a nice turn of phrase in parts. The singer fits the song but sounds to me like the kind of guy who'd anally rape your pets when you're not looking. The verses are catchy and the chorus is pretty anthemic. Towards the end of the song there's a nice brief instrumental break before the tempo changes and it goes into a slower chorus with lots of background "WHOOAA's" before stopping abruptly. This song wasn't particularly revolutionary but it was definitely a good punk song and I enjoyed it. Good lyrics, good music and necrophiliac vocals. 8/10 Choose from: Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel (Country) The Nuns - Wild (Punk) The Two Gallants - Fail Hard to Regain (Folk-punk) Bread and Roses - Bedtime for Plutocracy (Folk-punk) The Max Levine Ensemble - Leopard Print Girl (Punk) Soulseek: sketchyjoe Gmail: sketchyjoe |

It's starts off with some synthesized keyboard or something, and it sounds like it came from some b-movie horror film. It sounds very familiar and cool. After a few seconds of silence, the entire band comes in at once with a small guitar solo at medium tempo. When it ends, the vocals come in as soon as the verse starts. It's a girl singing, and it stands far out from the music, a bit poppy even. So far this song sounds like a few girls wanted to make a rock band that just happened to have a punkish sound. The lyrics are about her being wild and unable to be tamed. During the verses, there's a few background "Oohhh Ahhh's" from the girls, and it gets kind of annoying after awhile. It goes into a chorus which has the keyboards in the background. The guitar accompanies the singing nicely. After the second or third chorus, a guitar solo comes in that's pretty rockin. Goes into another chorus then verse, then chorus, and it ends. Not that bad of a song. The only thing downside was the repeating background vocals in each verse, and the feeling of the lack of energy from the vocalist. 6.5/10 Recommended Songs: The Plasmatics - "Prisoners of the Damñed" (Metal/Punk) Showcase Showdown - "Tonight, Tonight" (Punk) XTC - "Statue of Liberty" (New Wave) The Members - "Sound of the Suburbs" (Rock/Punk) AIM: PoliceOnMyBack69 Email: k77weasel@yahoo.com |
The Members - Sound Of The Suburbs
Starts off with a cool little arpeggio, building up to the verses. The verses have an interesting "build and release" style, with a bunch of snare hits and quick vocals until the more relaxed next line, and so on. It's neat little trick but it ends up pissing me off after a while. The bass in this is quite awesome, a very cool little riff. The song is all over the place, loud, fast, quiet, offbeat, standard, very weird stuff. Then the chorus comes in and it totally fails to blow me away. Which is a crying shame because it showed so much potential before that. All in all, not utter crap, but not life changing 7/10. Another Girl, Another Planet - The Only Ones This song starts off with a soft guitar riff. It sounds nice. Then the bass comes in as if it was just randomly done. Then after this the song starts and it seems cheery. The riffs and drums are uplifting as are the lyrics. This song is obviously about a girl whom the singer loves. It's a great song if you're in love but not a good listen if you're heart-broken! All ican really say from what I remember is that it's a feel good song with really good music. Good listen and I'm sure most people here have heard it. If not give it a listen. This is my first review so I hope I do it right.
Choking Victim-Suicide Starts with a mediocre bass intro, and after two runs of the line the rest of the band comes in with a decent melody. The bass continues with the same line until the guitar riff changes and the drums slow down a bit right before the verse. The verse is fairly standard ska. The lyrics for this verse apparently are about the singer getting caught by the police drinking. Its pretty upbeat for a song of its subject matter. After the first verse it goes back to the second riff of the beginning. I kinda like this song so far, especially considering Im not too big of a ska fan. The second verse contains the same music as the first but this time, the lyrics are bad. Now the singers reduced himself to whining and self loathing. After this verse the intro riff turns into the chorus/outro. I dont like these lyrics either but the musics ok. At 2:40 the song comes back in and it just becomes a bit too repetitive for me. Overall not a BAD song but not my kind of music. It would have had a higher score had the lyrics not went downhill from the second verse. 5.0/10 Recommended Songs: A Wilhelm Scream- The King is Dead (melodic hardcore) Break the Silence- A Piece of Mind (melodic hardcore) Rule 22- 1 in 5 (punk) Marathon-Painting by numbers (punk) Much the Same- One of a kind (pop-punk) |

starts with a neat guitar line, then hits from the band, the whole band playing along to the guitar "solo". when the singing starts, the song upps tempo a bit and the song gets rougher, more uncontroled. chorus is very simple and straight forward. the guitar solo in the middle is a repeat of the intro. very good song. 1 lars frederikson - gods of war 2 anti-flag - underground network 3 transplants - doomsday 4 black flag - TV party 5 alexisonfire - pulminary archery |

I like the intro and if I could tell what the guy was saying it would probably be better. It's not too bad though. The shout was very unnecssary. I'm try and blame the repettitiveness on the bad quality, but I don't think it'll work out. The song's alright, the break down's good even if the bass player is terribly inconsistent. The singer sucks horribly at screaming. He could use to just shut that mouth. And the shouting at the end was even worse. I'll give it a 4/10 and a 6/10 if it was better quality recording. The song commences with talking. Then it goes right into it, singing and all. I really like the singer and the guitar is very solid. I can make out some of the lyrics and they are very excellent. The guitar continues to be very solid. I have been meaning to check out this band for awhile now and I should have earlier. "We care, because we don't want to see the world die!" The vocals fit so well with the guitar. The two definitely are a positive mix. I like this song because from beginning to end it's solid lyrics, vocals and guitar. Nothing really diversifies. I'm expecting big things, since it's Propagandhi. Song kicks off with a short drum intro, before quiet, almost spacy guitar melody enters - this quiet little intro is really cool. Chris's vocals come in, and they are good as always. A fast, hard hitting drum fill on a tom leads into a harsher section, with great broken drumming. I'm liking this very much so far. The chorus is next up, and it's quite anthemic, and the drum beat is at it's fastest so far. The vocals are a standout for me, his voice is excellent. There's a cool but very short guitar solo here, before the vocals return. The song breaks down into a little, with Chris's vocals filling in the gaps. Then there's the final solo. I don't know much about guitars, so i don't know how good it is technically - all i know is that it sounds damn good, which is all that matters. It's really an awsome solo, as is this song in general. I am buying the new album in a couple of days, and I'm all the more stoked after this song. 9/10 Recommendations: Hot Snakes - LAX (Punk/Alternative) Talking Heads - Found A Job (Post Punk) Elliott Smith - Waltz #1 (Indie/Folk) Johnny Cash - Big River (Country) This Bike is a Pipe Bomb - This is What I Want (Folk Punk) |

I have been meaning to listen to him. From what I hear he is a little whiney, but who knows? It starts off with a soft guitar and piano. Then he makes a sort of moan. Next he commences singing and his voice is very high. It tones along with the instruments, guitar and piano. The lyrics sound poor. But his voice goes well with the instruments, I guess. He goes from singing to moaning, they're pretty interchangable considering the music in this song does not change what-so-ever. However, they throw in a different sound that goes well with the guitar. Ugh, about 2 minutes in his voice is just getting to me. I really do like some emo, but this a bit too much. It fades away nicely, or maybe that's just nice to me because the song is finished. Oh well, I'd rather listen to Mineral. 0.5/10. (I'm feeling really mean). Short simple signature ‘Gandhi intro that goes into a melodic urgent sounding verse. For the majority of the song there’s a thrashy drumbeat accompanied by some distorted guitar and a higher pitched riff that plays throughout. At 1:04 the music stops and fades to a much slower and sparser background to the subtle vocals. It soon reverts back to the “heavier” section, which really is pretty mellow. There also seems to be a short laidback solo at the end. Overall, the songs pretty bland and just never gets intense enough to get into. The slow breakdowns didn't reall work either. I was going to download that Gothic rockic song initially, but alas! I could not find any users with the song I desired. We begin with fast paced guitar riff, some chikitas, and an organ playing in the background. The vocals don't quite match the music in speed, and they're pretty deep. Sound really good for two tone. The chorus comes up quickly, going from ska to punk, but still keeping up beat. It doesn't sound like the original singer is still singing, but that's because he's yelling (or it actually is someone other than him). Past one minute there's a different beat and the bass is more noticeable, and I'd say it's a solo but the guy keeps singing. Another chorus around 1:30, and I think this one's longer than the first. Following the chorus the song takes a new form and slows down with a twinkly lick and ends shortly after. 8/10- Downloading the rest of the album, good stuff. Wow, I'm loving this intro. Very weird noises. Loud speaker man talking. Very cool weird percussion stuff. I like the crowd noises, and theway he's singing. Like it's through a loud speaker. I like the beat too, it's real, oompa style kinda thing. Sounds like a tuba in the background, not really sure. I like the bits where it's multiple people singing, sounds really good. Is that a kazoo solo? Whatever it is, it'smore annoying than anything. This song is really giving me the picture of a guy standing out in front of a huge crowd of people. Wow, it just got so much cooler when the crowd dropped out and he's talking about his family being guilty. Sounds like a banjo and playing and that is amazing. Back to the cheering crowd. One of the main reasons I like W/IFS, there's no real conventional instruments, that you'd hear in a regular band. I don't think I heard a guitar or drums once. All in all, a very awesome song. 9/10 Reccomendations: Senses Fail- Cover of Suicidal Tendencies "Institutionalized" Devo- Too Much Paranoias Against Me!- Burn VooDoo Glow Skulls- Ghettoblaster Catch 22- Keasby Nights Stiff Little Fingers- Johnny Was |

Alright, this is my first one, so sorry if it's not quite up to par. The song starts out with some weird guy saying, "Come with Uncle and hear all proper, Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited." Then the song goes straight into a really cool guitar riff. Then the horn section and singing comes in. The song is about blaring the stereo out on the streets and bringing the music to people out on the streets. Some alright vocals with the a pretty good horn section in the background. I'd say the guitar work is probably the best part of song. The lyrics aren't that great but overall it's a pretty cool song. I love this guy's singing. Somehow, I own this CD and have never heard nor heard of this song. The singing is amazing as usual. Missing the typical sweet Tiger Army bass line sadly. Still amazing. "No place for me here, where will I go" I love Tiger Army so much and this song is not only no exception, but quite a good point in my Tiger Army book. Drums are kinda lame. Second half of the song you can hear the bass better, it sounds pretty sweet, but not very tough. I love the end, with the build up and the let down. I'd like to know what that guy is shouting in the one bit of the song. It doesn't sound like Incorporeal, even though that would be the most obvious thing it should be. All in all I'm giving it a 9.5 out of 10. Against Me! - Burn
It starts off fast with a simple drum beat and guitar. After a couple of measure the vocals come in. The vocals are pretty fast for an Against Me! song. The chorus comes in, it's pretty fast too, the second part of the chorus has some good AM style harmony, and then quickly goes back into another verse, very simlilar to the first. This song is getting a bit repetitive. After another chorus, it goes to Tom just singing, with the occasional strum of the guitar, then, it goes back into a quick chorus, with someone yelling "Ai ai ai ai" in the background. Good song, a nicer, more acoustic feel on this one than on their newer stuff. 7.5 out of 10, not my favorite Against Me!
