you should get every studio album, as well as "hey jude" and "let it be: naked"

DeusExMachina 12-06-2004 02:42 PM

I own all studio albums except Hard Days Night, plus Let It Be: naked, plus One, plus all the anthologies.

Woodstock 12-06-2004 03:04 PM

I have Rubber Soul onward, I've basically heard all the songs on the first albums, so I dont see a reason to get them.

gmoneyguy 12-06-2004 03:29 PM

Their first ones would be nice to get, but I want to work on my Zeppelin and Floyd collection now.

I Am Vikingcore 12-06-2004 04:12 PM

My Beatles collection is pretty big, don't own any of their CDs myself, just ripped them onto my comp from my sister.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 12-06-2004 05:07 PM

I dont have Yellow Submarine(old or new) or Let It Be...Naked or the Anthology ones but I'm asking for them for Christmas. :D

morrissey 12-06-2004 05:34 PM

Definitely get the Anthologies... for a fan who knows the songs, they are really interesting. Yellow Submarine is.. meh, but hey, its the Beatles... even that CD is 100 times better then some other CDs ;)

I read somewhere on the internet once that Paul McCartney did "Why don't we do it in the Road" to imitate John Lennon, and John Lennon wrote "Goodnight" to imitate Paul McCartney
I haven't been able to find this anywhere and I was wondering if its even true.. anyone know anything?

I don't about those songs but they did do it during their solo careers.

DeusExMachina 12-06-2004 06:37 PM

Did anyone here know that The Ramones named themselves after Paul McCartney? When he was in Wings, his little brother had a band, and whenever Paul had a guest appearance with his brother, he'd be listed as "Paul Ramone" and not Paul McCartney. Ramones named themselves that in tribute to McCartney. Don't know if its true, but its an interesting idea.

Hmmm.

Why would Paul do that anyway.

morrissey 12-06-2004 07:40 PM

Probably so people didn't know he was Paul McCartney?

But didnt they pay to go to a Paul Mcartney concert.

morrissey 12-06-2004 07:44 PM

I thought he was saying that he was a guest player for his little brother. And he didn't want to steal the spotlight or anything, so he used a pseudonym (I'm not sure if that is what he means though). But it seems pointless, since when they go see them live people will likely recognize Paul...

Oh maybe he played with a mask.

Yeah, except it was guest appearances on albums. Like, on the album, it would say "guest vocals/bass/wahtever by Paul Ramone." Thats just what I heard though, not positive if its true.

morrissey 12-06-2004 07:54 PM

... quite possible.

Oh that would make sense. Didn't U2 make an album like that? (not to change subject from the Beatles or anything...)

That's a cool story anyways :).

Oh albums. I didnt even know his brother had a career in singing.

Walrus Gumboot 12-07-2004 07:54 AM

Which songs?

Walrus Gumboot 12-07-2004 07:58 AM

oh BTW about psuedonyms, I think Neil Young occasionally shows up at small gigs under fake names like that just to freak people out or something... not that it has anything to do with the Beatles, just thought livewired might find it interesting

morrissey 12-07-2004 09:49 AM

Walrus: about your "why don't we do it" and "goodnight" question, I heard that somewhere too. You are not alone ;)

gmoneyguy 12-07-2004 10:57 AM

Was that 1964?

gmoneyguy 12-07-2004 11:00 AM

That is a name of a beatles tribute band, what do you think.

Seafroggys 12-07-2004 01:16 PM

I saw Beatlemania about 4 years ago. Very good. In the photos "paul" poses with a lefty bass, but he plays right handed :(

gmoneyguy 12-07-2004 01:45 PM

Back when John and Paul first met, Paul impressed John when he played the guitar upside down.

morrissey 12-07-2004 01:47 PM

Wasn't that why he was allowed to join the band in the first place? He played some solo (I think it was an Eddie Cochrane tune, I'm not sure) upside down, and John was impressed enough to let him join the Quarrymen.

gmoneyguy 12-07-2004 01:48 PM

Then George joined after he busted out a song infront of John.

morrissey 12-07-2004 01:49 PM

george = teh hawt

:)

gmoneyguy 12-07-2004 01:50 PM

That he is.
