For me it's like 70% music, 30% lyrics.

Lyrics don't matter a great deal to me because alot of the music I listen to doesn't have lyrics, but if they do I like to hear good lyrics but it's not essential for me, I prefer to listen more closely to the music as opposed to the lyrics.

I listen to a lot of anarcho so good lyrics are essential. I would have to say that overall lyrics and music are almost half and half. If one sucks then that takes too much away.

If a song is lyrics importance over music importance and the music is bad, ala Crass, Conflict or some anarcho, I won't bother listening to them. If I wanted to hear really good writing, I'd rather listen to spoken word or audio poetry then having it 'sung' over bad music. I like my music to be enjoyable first and foremost, and have good music plus amazing lyrics makes a band jizz worthy, such as DK, Bad Religion, and Citizen Fish.
