Jaco's self-titled album is terrific.

It's not exactly classic rock but it was released in 1976, so it kinda counts, right?

np: Jaco Pastorious - Portraits of Tracy

omen5773 09-20-2005 10:24 PM

the Black Keys are a band to check out if you enjoy classic rock. especially if your a Zeppelin, Hendrix or BB king fan

PinkFreud 09-20-2005 10:50 PM

i like journey....

i prefer heavy weather to jaco's self titled.

i like the black keys

I like Harvest more than On the Beach, and I like Everybody Knows...etc the most I think.

I listened to Dylans Slow Train Coming album again tonight...I think all the songs are really good, but Dylan kind of serves them up in a rather bland way. Although Slow Train Comin' and Gotta Serve Somebody are two of my favourite songs from Dylan and the Dead. They sound much better (way more energy for sure) live.

edit - and I've only heard two Jaco Pastorius songs, I don't remember what they were. I really liked them though...I wonder where they went.

Harvest is definitely a great album but there are two problems with it:
1) "There is a World", which is like, one of the worst Neil Young songs ever (at least, the worst Neil Young song that he didn't try to intentionally suck at)
2) "Alabama", which is a half-assed rewrite of "Southern Man"
xanny bars? i think im going for those next.
Yea, those. They were extremly popular at my school last year I mean even the kids who didn't usually do drugs were poppin' them. At one point I was even selling them. In fact the day I sold my last few bars was the day there was 14 people got busted and I was one the ones who were searched. OMG I could have been in sooooooooo much **** and at that point my parents didn't even know I did anything. The people who were busted got a half a year in alternative schooling and one girl even tried to hang herself. It's crazy thinking about what could have happened to me that day. Now a days I never ever see bars and I think this bust had a big part to do with it.

Very cool high. I sorta miss it. :-/

robo2448 09-21-2005 06:56 AM

I think After the Goldrush is my favorite Neil album too
/trendy

It was the first Neil that I heard, and I think all the songs flow pretty well. None of the songs are my Neil favorites, but the album on a whole is very strong. I'd still need to buy Harvest.

yeah, you might want to try snurf. apparently, im the only one who had a bad reaction. ha. and i had a bad reaction to aderall as well, so i just dont have a good history with pills. i picked up some information on the snurfs since i last talked about them. apparently, its like herbal dxm. so its basically a hardcore robitussin trip.

I have no school today

There's an all-day field trip that everyone's going on with their homeroom. Some homerooms get to go to a Yankee game, but mine's going to the Museum of Natural History. So I decided to just screw it and not go at all. Since everyone's on a field trip, I get to chill out at home all day. Being sick does suck though, in fact I've got a cold right now that kept me awake all night last night :(

Workingman's Dead is great. Right now I digging Anthem of the Sun though. I like half studio, half live albums. Cool stuff.

WelcomeToTheMachine 09-21-2005 08:59 AM

Yeah im just staying home from school. what sucks though is that scince my new school sheduale is so messed up the way they did it,i would have 180 minutes of art today(my favorite class in school)

PinkFreud 09-21-2005 09:13 AM

PinkFreud 09-21-2005 10:52 AM

i tooks some aderall last night and didnt sleep at all. so i took some more this morning and still fell asleep in my 8-9:50 english class. hmph. stupid pill. works when i dont want it to and doesnt when i do.

PinkFreud 09-21-2005 11:03 AM
Why did you take aderall at night?
Seafroggys 09-21-2005 12:30 PM

My college schedule kicks ***. My first class is at 10 (The History of Rock Music :thumb: ) then I wait several hours for Jazz band, then depending on the day I might have a nigh class. Long, but fun and plenty of breaks!

Boston
one question...................why?

thickasabrick 09-21-2005 01:24 PM

I'm in such a ****ty mood. I can't even think of any music I want to listen to right now. Love and Theft is the only album that looks appealing to listen to right now, I'm not sure why.

Broken Arrow 09-21-2005 02:02 PM

Do know what a underrated song on Harvest is?

Words

Its a pretty good song in my opinion. And yes, There's a World takes it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-21-2005 02:43 PM
I don't know how you get away with that kind of stuff, Schyma, My parents are like freaking hawks
Dealing with bars was the first time I ever messed up and she didn't even look into it. I had just taken about 3 bars a half an hour ago and I had to talk to my mom. My words were slow and slured and she even said "Your acting pretty strange." and druged out of my mind I just said "You're crazzzzy" and went to sleep. (when it was 4:30 in the afternoon I slept through the night) She told me I was acting strange that day for days. I also got caught by one of my friend's mom. Now I've never been acused of being stoned before by an adult (except by ones I smoke with) but these bars can really mess you up and it's extremly hard to play off. Be careful if you ever take them.

I remember (<---not) I took 5 at my friend's house and I don't remember a thing I woke up the next morning naked with my door open. I don't even know how I got home.
EDIT: This hurricane is looking pretty bad, do you think you're going to evacuate?
It's about to be a 5 they're saying! I don't know about this. I think I'm going to get the hell out of here with my dad. Although I've never been though a hurricane before (that I remember) and I want to stick by my mom but I just don't know about this. :(

We got tomorrow and Friday off from school and this rain will bring shrooms popin' from the ground so at least there's some positives. :)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-21-2005 03:01 PM

OK, I have to make a choice take a really boring trip to Mexico or stay here and endure a little ol' hurricane with my mom? This is a 5. :upset:

Hmm. Europe '72 is my favorite live album by them. Favorite studio album would be..

Either:
Workingman's Dead
Wake of the Flood
American Beauty

I love 'em all.

I'd go to Mexico. But that's more or less just 'cause i've never been to Mexico.
