at christmas im thinking of getting a new drum kit!! not sure if anyone will of heard of it, its a "pearl Exported" i think, the guy in the shop said they were great for the money, and is even throwing in some zildjian zbt cymbals!!

ive been playing for 3 years, took my grade 4 exam last summer.

soi yea, what else should i get for my new kit?

Corkofski 11-27-2006 06:31 AM

Haha it's ok charlie, next time around...

Depending on your budget, the availibility, and the price offered. The xport might be the way to go.

JoeYdrummerTraviS 11-27-2006 06:46 AM

ah! great!

i know that joey plays a pearl kit and i love the sound and sped he gets from his bass drums!

do you know if they sell exports with double basses?

Charlie Manson 11-27-2006 06:48 AM

Yeah, but only posers buy them. Hmm come to think of it, one of those might suit you perfectly.

JoeYdrummerTraviS 11-27-2006 06:49 AM

are you calling me a poser?

Charlie Manson 11-27-2006 06:50 AM

What gave you that idea?

JoeYdrummerTraviS 11-27-2006 06:51 AM

i wonder...

stfu Jew

Charlie Manson 11-27-2006 06:52 AM

what i dont get what you mean. i thoght you wanted a double bass kit? the pearl exports are probably the cheapest option.

JoeYdrummerTraviS 11-27-2006 06:54 AM

No you havent. Not even some like Jos or Damo has "mastered" single.

-:Vincent:- 11-27-2006 07:02 AM

then we'll have a big party!

JoeYdrummerTraviS 11-27-2006 07:02 AM

Stickman Sam 11-27-2006 09:27 AM

Well, they play Blink and Slipknot tunes like no other I'd imagine...

EDIT: This is in reply to the post below. Cue inexplicable time-warp conspiracy theories.

Drum Phil 11-27-2006 09:32 AM

Crap. I deleted my post by accident.

I said:

Anyone who idolises Travis and joey cannot know much about drumming.

Anyone who beleives they've mastered part of an instrument cannot know much about it.

I cannot name a single person who's mastered an aspect of drumming.

Stickman Sam 11-27-2006 09:33 AM
ive mastered single pedal :)
That's quite a claim. Find a video or two of Jojo Mayer to get an idea of excellent single-pedal playing. Or, you could post audio/video showing your mastery of the single pedal, then I'll take that back.

Mastering single pedal before moving to double isn't that good an idea, in my opinion. Just means you lose time working with the double pedal; you can continue to play fast single-foot rhythms, even with a double pedal attached to your kit.

Wooo!

My Sonor S-Class snare arrived today! I've been happy all day. Ghost notes sound a whole lot better, it brings a smile to my face.

There's a picture of it in the thread I made (and a small audio clip).

I wish I had a good camera. I really want to take some fancy photos of my kit. I did a unit in scientific photography this year at uni, and it was whole lot of fun.

Jezen 11-27-2006 09:36 AM

Just been offered 8 gigs in Darlington over mid-december with Soznak (funk/latin) paying £100 each. I can make all of those except the very last one on the 16th. It's so annoying that I can't make the 16th because the only other thing i'm booked for is a few tunes with the jazz combo (NOT PAID) in the Sage, Gateshead. That's one hundred farkin pounds!! For a bloody jazz ensemble in the sage! Arg.

Oh well, this should still be £700 comin my way. I can't see myself ever earning more money in such a small space in time. Unless I get good at the drums...

OR unless I go on that gig tour in Beijing.... I wouldn't mind seeing China and getting paid for it...

Maybe I should buy a car.

Jezen 11-27-2006 09:46 AM
im prolly better than you? how long you been playing?
Wow this kid sounds like he's the real deal. Come on son, post something. Show me what ya got. Post anything you like of your own playing, and maybe we can all place wagers on if I can tear you apart only using one drum...

Drum Phil 11-27-2006 09:50 AM

Ive got a fiver on Jezen and the snare.
