ofDooM 11-26-2006 11:21 PM
Not Vancouver itself, it just happens to be a big city to use as a focal point. Once you start heading east/ northeast you get into the mountains and then the fun begins. It's just like the olympics, half the games are actually played far away from the host city. Whistler is place to go and is a little ways north of Vancouver.
By Vancouver, I meant Whistler.

I just couldn't remember how far out it was.

But mmk.

So does anyone know how to sign up for the defensive driving course?

I have a speeding ticket for 17 miles over that I'd rather my insurance not find out about.

Sabian4015 11-26-2006 11:30 PM

Um in Missouri they make you go to driving school for a few early saturdays. Maybe over therre in arizona they make you sign up or something. But it's either school or pay a fine so...

Sunshine 11-26-2006 11:33 PM

It's this like...8 hour defensive driving course that they hold up in Tucson.

I just don't know how to sign up or whatever.

Heh, Missouri...I have MO plates on my car. All the police keep hassling me about it because I've been here over a year and they're all "YOU'VE BEEN HERE OVER A YEAR YOU NEED AZ PLATES LUZER"

And I'm all.

"I HAVE A MILITARY STICKER ON MY CAR YOU FAT PIECE OF UNEDUCATED BACON, I'M EXEMPT FROM THAT RULE, NOW BACK OFF."

And they do.

Brokensticks 11-26-2006 11:42 PM

I can't wait to drive, I get my liscense in less than 2 months!

ofDooM 11-26-2006 11:45 PM

I should get my permit soon. At least before christmas break ends.

Then i'd have my liscence sometime in summer.

EDIT: im off to bed guys. cya.

Win A Rabbit 11-26-2006 11:59 PM

I think I'm the only 18+ year old I know who doesn't drive, except my grandma. I don't know whether or not to feel good about that.

Sunshine 11-27-2006 12:00 AM

^I know a guy who's like 20 and can't drive.

He doesn't WANT to drive.

I freaking love it <3

It's awesome.

If I get pissed, I can just drive really fast off into the mountains, no cops, not many people, it's really cool.

Aaron 11-27-2006 12:01 AM

I am a guy who is 20 and doesn't want to drive and doesn't.

Brokensticks 11-27-2006 12:02 AM

I just can't wait to get my own car and just drive around with my tunes on. Paying attention to the road obviously.

Aaron 11-27-2006 12:05 AM

I made a trade off: an apartment for a car. I couldn't afford both and I know which i'd rather be listening to tunes in.

Chippy569 11-27-2006 12:10 AM

apartments don't get you from your house to your place of employment though.

Sunshine 11-27-2006 12:11 AM

Oh, well yeah.

Between those two it's an obvious.

I wish I could still listen to music...

The adapter for my CD player [it was my grampa's car, no tape or CD player, so I had one of those adapters for your cig lighter and kept a portable in there] fried in the AZ sun =(

And it's pointless to buy a new one.

A) I don't have a job, so $24 is just not happening
-and-
B) I'm trading cars with my mom come January, and that one has a CD player in it

Chippy569 11-27-2006 12:13 AM

i just bought a new car... i think i posted that a while back

Aaron 11-27-2006 12:20 AM

trains do. living across the road from the station ftw.

Chippy569 11-27-2006 12:23 AM

ah see that's different. Mass transit in the US is utter bullshit.

Aaron 11-27-2006 12:24 AM

Trains in Australia are reliable if slow.

Sunshine 11-27-2006 12:27 AM

That's cool.

The car I'm trading for with my mom is awesome.

It's like. Virtually the same car.

But cooler.

Because the one I have now is:
Honda Civic 2000
White
Radio only
Ugly interior
Automatic
35 mpg city/hway
Must be left exactly as-is

The one I'm getting:
Honda Civic 2001
Black
CD and radio
Slightly cooler interior
Stick
45 mpg city/hway
Customizable and has an eyeball sticker on the gastank

Who wins?

Me.

_Wrathchild_ 11-27-2006 12:29 AM

So it's offical.

I'm a ****ing idiot who can't do anything right, and all I do is screw things up or let people down.
It was made official after I hit the ditch and totalled my van and nearly got myself killed today.

I suck =/

Win A Rabbit 11-27-2006 12:40 AM

3 of my friends have gone in the ditch in the last week. But that's due to ice + snow on the roads.

I've always loved public transportation. I don't see why it's so looked down upon. Nothing better than hopping on a bus with my mp3 player and being able to start conversations with people I've never met before. I'd prefer that so much more than being alone in a car stuck in traffic during rush hour.

Sunshine 11-27-2006 12:49 AM

Sometimes public transportation can be cool.

But sometimes it scares me shitless.

Americans, as a whole, are some scary people =(

LoneStarDrummer 11-27-2006 12:53 AM

i find it's rather cool striking up a conversation with a complete stranger and finding out just how much you have in common with them. there are some crazy people out there, but deep down a mass majority of us are all the same.

never done it on public transportation though.

Maggot Dream 11-27-2006 12:55 AM

Our light rail system just opened (finally), I'm looking forward to using it.

Less money on gas =

No, that's due to them not knowing how to drive worth a shit.

Why do so many people have such a hard time driving safely? It's not that hard.

 We've had non-stop snow for the last 3 days, which just makes the layer of ice on the roads (the main roads are decent, but other than that it's all ice) that much more slippery. I'm not saying they're amazing drivers, but to put it into perspective, the other day when my friend went into the ditch, he called for a tow truck, and the wait was 4 hours, due to all their trucks being out pulling other people out of ditches/towing smashed cars from crashes (again, due to ice + snow). Luckily he went into the ditch right next to his house, so he waited inside for the 4 hours.

Gotta agree with you there. It sure as hell is harder to drive during these conditions, but that doesnt mean you should be allowed on the road if you arent skilled enough or arent going to pay enough attention.

EDIT: just because other people arent paying attention and are crashing doesnt really give you an excuse for crashing

Well yeah. Lot's of people can't drive that good. I wasn't saying your friends were the only ones. I was saying it's their fault no matter how you try to justify it.

Futuro 11-27-2006 02:14 AM

For some reason I never have to worry about icy roads in florida...

Just REALLY old people. With REAAAAAAALLLLLLYYYY slow cars. And there blinkers never work, or they just drive on the Interstate with them on.

I hate driving on Vancouver Island. Its Canadas florida, absolutely brutal drivers. I was with my friend at his grandparents house, his grandpa was driving us somewhere and almost ran down a pedestrian.

Yeah, I'd say easily 75% of drivers here are terrible drivers (my friends included), but I'm just saying that none of them had gone into the ditch in their 4 months - 2 years of driving. Ice and snow + already fairly bad drivers = bad news.

I guess what I was trying to say is that even though mother nature herself isn't sending down the snow and having the sun melt it, just to let it freeze by the next morning, and even though there's no other physical force that put them into the ditch but themselves, I wouldn't completely say it's "their fault."

Anyways, this post makes no sense. Friends?

my friend isnt a great driver and wrecked his car recently because of weather and bad driving.

Win A Rabbit 11-27-2006 02:34 AM

The only friend of mine that I'd consider a great driver is the only one who's had damage to his car (not including a deer that ran into another friend's hood, he was replacing the hood next week anyways).

Not from driving, though. Both from parties gone wrong, not his fault both times.

The first time someone mistook his car (actually at this point it was still technically his mom's car, he hadn't paid her for it yet) for another kid's (same car, same color) and smashed in the rear window. The second time, some people went around and smashed all the front windshields down his entire street.

That was brutal for him.

Seafroggys 11-27-2006 02:42 AM

i haven't posted in awhile.

I just saw Casino Royale, it was a ****ing awesome movie. Great way to spend a birthday. Also, my friend gave me his old 17" Flat Screen CRT Monitor, so I love this 1280 resolution.

Corkofski 11-27-2006 03:29 AM

did you cunting cunts know the piece of crap shitty swear filter is bollocked so we can swear?

hell yes

Win A Rabbit 11-27-2006 03:32 AM

 "bollocked"

You brits never fail to amaze me.

Corkofski 11-27-2006 03:36 AM

best word ever

wankered is a good one as well :)

Win A Rabbit 11-27-2006 03:44 AM

 My friend's dad lives in England and he comes down every 6 months or so and "gets wankered" with us. He's a really cool guy. Looks like Iggy Pop. Old Iggy Pop, not young Iggy Pop. And he always wears a fanny-pack. A Bright green/blue/pink fanny-pack.

Corkofski 11-27-2006 03:46 AM

where are you?

-:Vincent:- 11-27-2006 03:53 AM

Hey guys,

I need some advice. Out of a standard Pearl Export, or a standard Tama Superstar which would you prefer/think is better? Just wondering.
