I'd say Geddy Lee has made Rush unlistenable for me in the same way that Robert Plant made Led Zeppelin unlistenable for me. Then again, I love Bob Dylan and Neil Young's voice, which a lot of people can't stand, so I guess I've got a pretty messed up taste in voices.
|
I love all of there voices except Geddy's but I can tolerate him. (for awhikle)
|
Eww, Axl Rose :(
Neils voice is probably my favorite. |
I'm the same. I hate Geddy Lee's voice but some of my favourite singers would be seen as aesthetically displeasing. No, Vince Neil is not one of my favourite singers. Axl Rose on the other hand...
Hehe. I can't stand Axl's voice either, from what I've heard, which is like only 3 songs. I don't like most hard rock/ metal singing in general though. Except Ian Gillian or whatever that guy's name is from Deep Purple. He has an awesome voice. |
His voice in Tom Sawyer is especially unbearable to me, when he reaches those high notes...
*castration* |

Same here. Todays been pretty cool, ive heard jimi songs almost all day. :) |
I never knew that there was somebody that didnt like Rush. Personally I think Rush is awesome but that might also be becasue I am a huge fan of prog rock in general. He has one of the most recognizable voice out there in my opinion, and thats very important. RUSH ROCKS!
|
For me, Ian Anderson has an excellent voice. I love how he faints in and out in some verses. Some notable songs: Life's A Long Song.

I like prog rock in general too, but Rush just annoys me. |

<3
I like his vocals. I really need to hear some more Tull though. I don't really want to have to pick a top singer. Too tough. I might do like a top 10 vocalist list later. |
How boring it might be, Johnny Cashs voice is pretty good too :)
He has the deep, radio show voice. |
How boring it might be, Johnny Cashs voice is pretty good too :)
He has the deep, radio show voice.
Have to agree, johny cashes voice is really cool, probably one of my favorie singers, especially in country music. |
How boring it might be, Johnny Cashs voice is pretty good too :)
He has the deep, radio show voice.
Yeah. His voice can be really emotional though, it's hard to describe, but just the simplicity of it evokes so much raw emotion. |
On the topic of Geddy Lee, I have to disagree with you guys. When I first listened to Rush, I hated the vocals, too, but I still listened to it. Now, as I have listened to more Rush and delved deeper than Tom Sawyer and Working Man, I've come to like and even appreciate his vocals. I find the vocals second to last movement on 2112 to be very emotional.
Anyway, I think top vocalists is gonna be the next poll, so there should be some interesting results. |
All of you hatin' on Rush suck! And Geddy Lee is far from over rated as a bass player
|
Heh. I never got into Rush that much.
I was flippin' through Jethro Tull albums and saw on "This Was" there is a song titled "One For John Gee" I laughed, that happens to be my nickname. <--- |
You guys need to appreciate Wilco more. Seriously, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot falls into the category of "one of the top 20 alternative albums this decade", and given how good the '00s have been for alt music, that says a lot. Their other stuff is good, but not in the same league.
This guys ahead of the game. /late They played "Hummingbird" "The Late Greats" "Jesus, etc" and some others I didn't recognize. |
Geddy Lee is a great bassist and singer, I really enjoy his work. :)
I really like the way on 2112 the "Presentation" segment he switches from the quiet meek vocals of the protagonist to the harsh vocals of the priests. I can do a good Axl Rose impression. |
Neil Young tours often, extensivly and inexpensively
Some ELO would be greatly appriciated Did anyone get Cream tickets? and last but not least, Schyma, whatcha gonna do about this hurricane? I see one is heading straight for Houston |
Is it a big one? It would suck if the city where a lot of the evacuees from New Orleans are got hit bad.

Some ELO would be greatly appriciated
Are they still together,i like some of their songs, they are cool, but i was just curious if they were. |
Some ELO would be greatly appriciated
I'll upload a greatest hits and maybe Out of The Blue, but the Greatest Hits is a good place to start.
Are they still together,i like some of their songs, they are cool, but i was just curious if they were.
Technically, they still are, but without Jeff Lynne who is basically the brains behind the operation, they suck. |
Whenever I see or hear ELO I always think of the scene in Billy Madison where the guy is putting on the lipstick and listening to "Telephone Line"
 /random |

My dad grew up in Houston and most of his family still lives there. I love Houston, I go there at least once a year. I hope the hurricane misses it or something. |
1. I don't like Geddy Lee's voice. In fact I don't like Rush either.
2. I hope I can see Neil Young sometime soon. 3. I bought The Times They Are A-Changing, On The Beach, and Exodus today. Now I'm going to go watch Apocalypse Now. Hooray for "The End"! |

 /random
I always think of that whenever I hear the actual song. Whenever I hear ELO or Electric Light Orchestra, I think to myself "Mister Blue Sky, please tell us why..." :) Doo - wop dooby dooby doo, doo wop doo weeee, Blue days, black nights, Now the song's stuck in my head. |
Hey, nice one man. :) How much did you pay/where are the tickets? Congratulations, anyway.
Lunch-are those tickets any good? I'm not familiar with the venue, obviously. You guys need to appreciate Wilco more. I remember listening to it once when you uploaded it a while ago, liked it, but kind of forgot about it. Then, like a week ago I was looking for something to listen to, and I decided to just play that song. I've played it everyday since. It's so amazingly catchy. |
Im hoping to see zz top on their tour, itll be cool.
/kinda off topic,as always |

Seriously, his last tour was in 2003, you guys probably just missed it. He is going to tour again really soon, and it seems like it's going to be a heavy, emotional "When God Made Me" sort of album. I'm sure by next year. Don't worry, you'll see him. I'll prolly try to catch him in NYC, Hartford, Saratoga and Boston, but I'm a freak like that |
