That's awesome! How in the hell did you get tickets??

The starting of Blowin' in the Wind is also in a Simpsons episode. Homer's mom sings it. For anyone who doesn't recall, I'd be happy to refresh your memory (it's hilarious).

Lunch 09-19-2005 01:57 PM

You lucky bastard. My mom went on ticketmaster on 9 this morning and couldn't find any tickets.

The best tickets I can find now are $160 for section 404.

No, not really.

Odd. My mom could only find the 64.50 ones behind the stage, I'm glad the cheap ones were avaliable, because she wouldn't have let me get them if they were more than that :D

I'll try to move around so I'll be able to see the stage, but even if I can't, it'll be awesome just to be there.

And Med, I think Badmoon said he didn't really care for Yankee foxtrot. Not sure though.

Broken Arrow 09-19-2005 02:09 PM

Nice, Robo.

Lunch 09-19-2005 02:10 PM

Actually, my mom found a couple of those but decided to pass. We didn't really want to take a 4 hour trip, find hotel, etc. not to see the band.
http://tix11.stubhub.com/index.cfm/?event_id=174370&inpage=1#venueMap

No, not really.
Some rich kid at my school paid 300 bucks a ticket for seats in section 2. Right in front of the stage. Stubhub's a great site though, if you keep searching as the concert get's closer, I think the prices for the tickets will go down. I can't wait until October 26th.

This makes me feel special for living right outside NYC. Good parts- every band comes here, easy travel. Bad parts- tickets are more expensive here, and events sell out faster.

Edit- Post 1900. w00t. Good day to fall on.

Lunch 09-19-2005 02:13 PM

Why would tickets go down as the date gets closer?

robo2448 09-19-2005 02:15 PM
Why would tickets go down as the date gets closer?
Well, I think stubhub would be desperate to sell them so they can make at least some money, so the prices should become more reasonable so the tickets sell.

Lunch 09-19-2005 02:16 PM

I'm under the impression that whatever they have will sell out.

robo2448 09-19-2005 02:18 PM
I'm under the impression that whatever they have will sell out.
That occurred to me as I was responding before. There's a chance more people will put more tickets up. You're right, it probably will sell out, but there's always a small chance that someone puts them on sale a week before the show because they have to go to wedding or something.

Leper 09-19-2005 02:19 PM

I'd be very shocked if they didn't sell out, even at the current prices.

Lunch 09-19-2005 02:20 PM

I would pay $160 for the crappy seats, but I don't think my parents would.

Stubhub's different from ticketmaster. I'm sure they'll sell out on ticketmaster if they haven't already, but stubhub is like a legal ticket scalping company. If you buy tickets and find out that you can't make an event, you can sell them on there, and stubhub puts the tix on sale at their site, and sells them.

RockAndRoll 09-19-2005 02:22 PM

I wish I was going to see cream.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-19-2005 02:24 PM

Congrats Robo. :thumb:
I'm under the impression that whatever they have will sell out.
I got that impression too.
because they have to go to wedding or something.
I'd miss anyone's wedding to see Cream and I don't even like them that much.

Robo, what section of that map are you in?

robo2448 09-19-2005 02:27 PM

I'd miss a wedding too, it was just a really bad example. I actually don't know what section the tix are in. My mom just said they were behind the stage, but didn't give me a specific section. I'll ask her.

The "Bowls are packed" comment had nothing to do with me. I just started to smell the smoke around then. I smoked later.

Oh, I see.

Alright, I've given Dylans Live '75 album a few more listens....I find that it is very impressive if you think of the songs like cover songs, but very disappointing when you realize it actually is Bob Dylan. Songs like Just Like a Woman are still really good songs, but I think Dylan's original versions are all better than these live versions.

Although I find this version of Tangled Up in Blue very interesting, I like it.

At least you like it more and gave it a few more listens :)

The originals are very different in most cases, and maybe this album will continue to grow on you like it grew on me. I like Dylan changing around the songs. It's very interesting to say the least.

JonG 09-19-2005 06:19 PM

Bumpity bump bump.

Listened to Hot Rats this morning, yet again.

Excellent album.

Woodstock 09-19-2005 06:22 PM

I have a tendency to overplay the albums I love, so I try not to kill them any further by listening to albums I haven't played in months.

Hot Rats couldn't be saved. :(

JonG 09-19-2005 06:23 PM

I listen to tons of Zappa(since I have about 60 of his albums).

Couldn't choose a favorite :x

I also tend to overplay, then get sick of them ;x

robo2448 09-19-2005 06:24 PM

I just saw a thread on Neil Peart, and that reminded me, I listened to 2112 the other day, and it reaffirmed my hatred for Rush. Peart's drummer is great, as is Lifeson's guitar, but Geddy Lee

Geez. What a godawful singer. I've tried ignoring his voice and everything, but I just can't block it out. I think he's pretty overrated at the bass too, but he's still very instrumentally talented. His voice just ruins the band for me. I just decided to delete 2112 from my computer. Well this post is pretty much a useless post, but I'm just trying to get some discussion started in here. Anyone else not able to stand Lee's voice?

Edit- Screw this post. Thread got bumped while I was typing it.

I completely agree with you, though a lot of regulars won't.

JonG 09-19-2005 06:26 PM

I'm not a big fan of it. I like his bassmanship(even a word?) better than his singing.

He does get pretty whiney.

Broken Arrow 09-19-2005 06:27 PM

I can listen to it.

angusmaster 09-19-2005 06:29 PM

When i first heard rush,i thought he was girl, yea, its kinda annoying too.
