What the **** is that supposed to be?

Anarcho Poser 05-17-2006 09:07 PM

That will be tremendously difficult and time consuming.

The only way I could think of is to, as has been said, sew it through the paper, unless you can find some sort of temporary iron-on paper.

I was going to hand embroider something once, but I decided it was going to take a very lot of effort -- effort which I wasn't ready to put forth.

Zorg 05-17-2006 09:19 PM

I cut up my too small Joy Division shirt and safty pinned the Unknown Pleasures design around my arm. I probably look like an idiot and dont' know it.

So i wanted to make this in to a stencil: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j73/h-drix/knife.jpg

I dont know what i should cut out to make it in to a knife. Do i cut the inside out or should i cut in between the two lines?

In the end im hoping it will turn in to a "Kill Your Television" picture and the knife going in to a TV.

ratsinthecity403 05-18-2006 04:08 PM

cut the inside out, that shoud work.

And yes, I realize exactly what I'm getting into with my jacket project. I don't plan to finish it too quickly. The image is really bad quality too, I just can't find any good examples.

if u want it to look right ur gona need to make like 2-4 bridges to connect the knife to the outline of it

asdf 05-18-2006 08:56 PM

I had this image in my head all day.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/image.jpg

No big concept. I was just thinking about how odd it's going to be that theres's going to be people knowing only of ipods and MP3 players. Vinyl, Tapes, CD's... a thing of the past.

skavid 05-18-2006 10:00 PM

My god, I wish I could do anything that involved art as well as this guy:

Anarcho Poser 05-18-2006 10:01 PM

iam2000pounds 05-19-2006 12:16 AM

coheneran 05-19-2006 10:52 AM

I saw a guy do something like that (3D imaging with chalk) in Edinburgh. What they do is draw a distorted image (the one I saw was a strange elongated image of the Earth, as if it was being stretched) then they have a weird lense set up on a tripod, and you look at the drawing through the lense and it looks three dimensional. But this guy's pictures are amazing! Some of them look too real to be true.

when you say tht do you mean something like this:

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j73/h-drix/knife2.jpg

only the bridges being a little bit bigger. i drew in the bridges quickly in paint.

Actually, I think that's the same guy. His name is Julian Beever and I know he did an Earth drawing. That must be his secret!

Ah. Is he English? He got pretty mad at me for walking on his drawing. Damn arrogant fool! What did he think was gonna happen when he drew it on a pavement?

yea thats exactly what i meant.cause then it will just fall apart and be 2 different images so then u just go back and paint where the bridges were back in.

So today I went to the Stencil Festival.

Holy crap. So many good artists there. There stencils are crazy. So friggen detailed! Think like..10 layer stencils. Finest details.

The area the festival was at has got so much great street art. I'm going back tomorrow to check the festival out again, and to also put some paste ups around.

Flagjacket 05-20-2006 09:04 AM

Sounds awesome. Take pictures?

Nah, you aren't allowed to take pictures in there. But we took like..70 pictures of all the graffiti and stencils in the area.

I'll try and sneak some pictures today.

That's so stupid. What are they afraid of, that someone will steal the artistic design they spray illegally all over the street? That's like wanting to copyright a new kind of heroin so no one steals it off you. They know they made the design, they have the personal satisfaction of having created it, what else do they want? A cheque?!

I'm going to loan my minor threat stencil to a kid I don't really like.

Seem like a good idea?

I don't really care as long as he doesn't use it to graffiti around where I live (he's a tagger), and as long as I get it back.

Danger Bird 05-21-2006 02:23 PM

Could somebody make a stencil of the Robocop logo? I'm going to do the logo, then the picture, and then the words "Dead or alive, you're coming with me". I've already got the dead or alive part, all I need is the logo. Thanks.

EDIT: Here's a test spray of the picture part.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/rcstenciltest.jpg

POINTLESS5448 05-21-2006 07:31 PM

it looks good but i think it will be hard to tell that its robocop unless you already know. also it would be cool to make it a 2 layer stencil and make the eye part red. im not sure if its red im thinkin like cyclops from xmen but regardless it would look cool.

As long as you can trust the kid not to do that, it doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Golan 05-21-2006 07:58 PM

Definately a bad call to lend a TAGGER a stencil that you don't want TAGGED all over your neighborhood. Tell him to make his own, it's more punk that way.

Get some spray adhesive. It will hold the stencil down better and the stencil will look heaps cleaner.

I use Krylon Easy Tak. Good stuff

I quite like the off-spray. It adds a bit of pretty shading, and helps fill in the bridges but still keeps the stencil image clear.
