It's been way too long for it to be another year. I'm just ITCHING for somthing to come out. I hope ther'll be a DVD. |
the ablum is comming out in this century
maybe |
Well, it is a mode of C Maj, but so is the A Aolian scale. Aolian is played with the same notes of Cmaj but starting on A. Aolian=Minor. This turns it to the A minor scale. D Dorian is one accidental away from being a minor scale.
I'm also glad Tool has moved farther from the major scales, yet I would like to see a bit more light shed on the new one. It could turn out to be a refreshing change from Lateralus. Combined with the "supposed" heaviness, it could turn out to be very enjoyable.
Yeah, I would kinda like the next Tool album to be less "dark". Somewhat like Third Eye, because to me, that song is heavy (in its own little way) and it's not very dark. IMO |
Wow that song is really dark IMO.
|

IMO
A couple days ago I said thats the song I'd like them to move towards. Some of the heaviest and softest parts in all of Tool are in that song. I don't think it's as dark as abstract. |

IMO
Are you kidding me?? That's one of Tool's darkest songs, if not the darkest. |
^ thank you kage
Are you kidding me?? That's one of Tool's darkest songs, if not the darkest.
Well, I do think it is one of their darkest, softest, most abstract, angriest, loudest, saddest, funniest, anythingest, songs. It has a collage of things, though the more memorable moments are very dark. |
My perception of dark is what atmosphere is created. If the atmosphere is dark, well, then it's dark. Dark and heaviness do not go hand in hand, but they can go along together very well. All the whispering and the dissonant guitar parts in Third Eye, as well as the general feel of the song make it a dark masterpiece in my opinion.
|
I'm listening to it and it is definately the darkest song by Tool.
I don't know what song creates a darker atmosphere by them. |
Quoted for tr00f.
A close second is Triad, I think.
I personally think Reflection is darker than Triad... But Third Eye takes the cake. |
I personally think Reflection is darker than Triad...
But Third Eye takes the cake.
Agreed. The great thing about it, though, is that it's a very dark song, but not overly so, and it isn't a burden to listen to. It's dark through the whole thing, yet it's not melodramatic and stays varied and interesting. How they did that with a 13 minute song, mixing so many different mood shifts and the building/release of tension is incredible. |
Triad has a very tribal feel to it, not so much dark to me.
How they did that with a 13 minute song, mixing so many different mood shifts and the building/release of tension is incredible.
The main reason I like Tool. |
Agreed.
Fuck you, I'm in alot of pain here
I can't drive, or do anything really :upset:
This is changing the subject, but I just saw this and wanted to make sure you knew I was kidding? Right? |
This is changing the subject, but I just saw this and wanted to make sure you knew I was kidding? Right?
I knew it :p But I still wanted to make sure you knew I really was in pain :upset: |
I'm gonna put Aenima on and go to sleep so I'll catch you cats on the flipside lata.
I knew it :p
I'm gonna put Aenima on and go to sleep so I'll catch you cats on the flipside lata.
Ha, that's what I was planning on doing in a few hours. |
Of course. You feeling better now, though?
Much. I still don't have the full range of motion in my neck, but I can at least drive, and look around relatively normally  |
Agreed.

But I love how its basically an emotional roller coaster basically. Like around 7:00, the softer part, it feels so... slow and heavy that it feels like there's an "itching" for that climax to come. And when it does get heavy again, its like an "eargasm". I love it. I would say it's just as good as listening to the end part of Lateralus with really good headphones on and listening to those bass slides over the guitar and the... It's just great I think. Same thing with "The Grudge", around 3:45, with the drums. I love Tool :D |

Third Eye is not a song, it is a journey.
That is all  |

I love Tool :D
The second Maynard yells "let go" for the last time and Danny starts doing his thing, I have a joygasm. Stuff like that makes Tool so great. Edit: ^^ in The Grudge |
I think we all know what song that came from ;)
|
We better know what song!
And you're right, Third Eye IS a journey. |
I think anyone could make a reference like that to a Tool song, and we'd all know what it was anyway.
We're just that cool* *Obsessed :p |
Neither do I.
We're Tooloholics anonymous. We love Tool. This is not a problem :p |
Yeah, I'm happy to admit to my obsession with this band. :D
Is the neck good enough for some 4 string bassige the joz? |
Yeah, I'm happy to admit to my obsession with this band. :D
Is the neck good enough for some 4 string bassige the joz?
My neck is fine... I can't do any bass till...Saturday. I have a cello recital AND a paper to work for, both on Friday... :( |
