the whammy's better on the GNX4 actually..

harmonize, dive bombs, octave pedal, volume. You can do anything with it actually. You can set it to 2 separate functions at any one time as well

the thing about the GNX4 is that the built in amp models are good, so people ultimately draw terrible conclusions about the unit. The fact remains that the functions of that unit are greater than the PODXt. You can check the specs if you dont believe me.

I will say i slightly prefer the construction of the POD, but that hardly is either here nor there.

As far as recording goes, you record straight to a compact flash, and needn't bring a computer into the mix, unless you want to send it to someone. Having the jam man looper alone makes it FAR superior than the POD Xt if we are just comparing the units.

And, like i said, as far as the tone is concerned, anyone who talks sh!t on the GNX4 on this site hasnt used one for over 10 minutes

yeah but the trackings horrible thats the thing. im looking at getting either a g major, a whammy, or a digitech pedal like the gnx series for teh carvin and have the pod strictly jcm.

the new ZOOMs are metal and rubber, and sound pretty nice. I use the G2.1U when I'm playing in my church band.

The PODxt is [I]far[/I] easier to work with, and the tones are so much more tweakable on the PODxt.

You can't say that the fact the GNX has a jam looper makes it better that the POD, because the POD was never designed to be used in that way. The PODxt is a preamp/recording device. The GNX is an effects box that can be used as a stand alone recorder.

It's like when people compare the PODxt to the GT-8. They are designed for different things.

I am really not tone picky, if I can get Wes Montgomery Cleans with my Jazzbox, and David Gilmour overdrive with my strat I will be happy. I really don't think I'd need the whammy on a Gnx4 since I just don't play like that. So maybe a Podxt is best for me.

I plan on getting a Jazz Chorus next christmas how would a Podxt sound through one of those?

I've got an ADVT series (which I love), I think those have much the same models. They look like pretty solid pieces of equipment, and if you can afford one and have room, I would definitely consider it. But don't buy before you try.
