2. Something with a lot of Groove (Both Metal and other)
The Beta Band. Not at all metal, but plenty of (slow, relaxed) groove.

Tyler 07-14-2006 12:58 PM

As in indepedant? Or as in the inexplicable genre "indie".

Txus 07-14-2006 12:59 PM

This is not the best place to ask, but check out:

Death Cab For Cutie
Modest Mouse
Arctic Monkeys (One of the few indie bands I like)
The Decemberists
Pixies

Do you guys know of any good ambient bands? Something like Kid A by Radiohead, or some Pink Floyd stuff, like Meddle. That's all I really know of, but something like that, just good chill out music.

Gandalf(Instrumental)
Ozric Tentacles
Pineapple Tree
Riverside

maybe that is what you are looking for pretty chill out groups

For Meddle-era Pink Floyd, you can't go past Mike Oldfield and Kitaro.

Nepenthe 07-14-2006 05:28 PM

Nonfiction is the best hip hop ever. Good luck finding any though.

Tyler 07-14-2006 05:47 PM

It's Non Phixion. That could be your problem.

Nepenthe 07-14-2006 05:48 PM

Haha, could be. Either way, it's the best hip hop ever.

Tyler 07-14-2006 06:01 PM

I dont like their/his voice.

gillygan 07-14-2006 10:35 PM

I didn't really like the Hilltop Hoods, and I'm gonna definatley check out Non Phixion.

I really really love Atmosphere's old album, Overcast. Songs like "Scapegoat" and "Adjust" are just amazing. Anybody heard anything similar to that?

Also, I want to get more into Electronica/Trance/Techno or whatever you would call it. All I have is an Infected Mushroom album.

Lastly, has anyone ever heard of Dj Krush or The Album Leaf? What genre are they and what are some similar bands?

Thanks :)

Recommend me some strong, serious, sad Emo/rock/hard rock songs that are just achingly beautiful...songs that really 'get you everytime', pull on your heartstrings, gives you chills...and what not.

Anyone know what the eff I'm talking about...

No, I'm not depressed or anything..

Thanks guys and girls

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 10:48 PM

Guns N Roses - November Rain, Estranged

Zild_Gretsch 08-11-2006 10:54 PM

Just any song with strong chords in a saddening progression.

Virus278 08-11-2006 10:54 PM

Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism....well I think it's a really beautiful song - that's not really rock tho...

PinkFreud 08-11-2006 11:01 PM

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Jimmy Eat World - Table For Glasses
John Frusciante - Song To Sing When I'm Lonely
John Lennon - Jealous Guy
Elliott Smith - The Biggest Lie
Elliott Smith - Needle In The Hay
Queen - Someone To Love
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Tear
The Velvet Underground - Stephanie Says
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

All except Maggot Brain and maybe Someone To Love are very light, pretty, sad songs Ch-check them out.

Zild_Gretsch 08-11-2006 11:07 PM

Thanks, that's what I'm talking about...I recognize a few of those songs, exactly what I mean...anyone else?

Hmmm...

Sleeping Sun - Nightwish
Dead Boy's Poem - Nightwish

Neither are "emo" in any sense, but they're quite beautiful, sad, and unbelievably powerful.
