More and Obscured By Clouds are the two soundtracks.

And Ummagumma was released before Atom Heart Mother, yes, but they didn't really bring the space rock sound together until Meddle.

And More came out before Ummagumma, both in '69, but July 27th (I think) versus (my birthday) October 25th.

And it is a live show, but with very good sound engineering, much like a lot of Floyd's live stuff.
I got Ummagumma on vinyl :chug: . So far Iv'e only heard the live album but it sounds great, I love the performance of Careful With That Axe Eugene. Something I was curious about though was I was looking at the tracklist of Disc 2 and noticed everyone got credited for the stuff they wrote, except Nick who doesnt have any credit next to his. What's going on there?
I'm going to buy Ummagumma later tonight. I got some money yesterday and have been thinking all day about which CDs I want to buy. Funny thing, I read my horoscope in the newspaper today and it said: "Tonight: Make it OK to buy that CD"

It's fate.

Riva 03-02-2007 06:21 PM

My horoscope said, "You will shatter all you hold dear and feast on the blood of the innocent"

I figured since it was fated to happen anyway...

Montana 03-02-2007 06:32 PM

That's a pretty exciting horoscope.

Riva 03-02-2007 06:33 PM

But yeah, seriously buy Ummagumma, no matter what medium it is on.

Just because you should own it to complete your collection.:p

And that kitten is omgcute.

Oh well ok, its just I know its quite easy to make something seem live.

Riva 03-02-2007 07:02 PM

Actually, apparently it was subject to some overdubbing.

rippa32 03-02-2007 10:09 PM

Oh, well I had a look and apparently Saucerful is made up of four shows. apparently it shows four parts in the tracklist too but not on my copy.

Leper 03-03-2007 10:59 AM

I never knew Obscured by Clouds was a soundtrack. It's so much better than More in that regard.

I'm not a big fan or More, though. The only song I really like on it is Cymbaline.

Danger Bird 03-03-2007 04:29 PM

I'm glad to see everybody buying Floyd's best album.

robo2448 03-03-2007 05:30 PM

Ummagumma is the only Floyd studio album I don't have besides A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

Riva 03-03-2007 06:11 PM

You still have a few more to catch up to Montana and me, Robo, hehe.

Neoteric 03-03-2007 06:18 PM

So I just obtained Atom Heart Mother vinyl off my uncle. Now I need a record player to play it on.

rippa32 03-03-2007 08:06 PM

If your not really interested about belt drive/direct drive, manual/automatic or whatever you can get them pretty cheap.

Replace A Momentary Lapse of Reason with The Final Cut and you have my situation.

so

Tickets for Roger Waters in my city go on sale for monday

what kind of seats do you think I should go for?

and

what state of mind do you recommend I attend with?

magicbus 03-03-2007 09:14 PM

Ummagumma rocks, everyone buy it.

OBC is awesome too. I just listened to it again today. Lots of good solos on Dave's part.

Seating will depend on where your going.

I only have Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, WYWH, The Wall, DSOTM, and Animals. I'm not crazy about Atom Heart Mother and I don't like Piper at the Gates of Dawn either. Which album should I get next?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-04-2007 12:14 AM

Obscured By Clouds I suppose.

Yield 03-04-2007 08:12 AM

I finally got The Division Bell from a friend the other day. It's pretty good, but like I've said before, Post-Waters PF really doesn't do it for me. So the albums I now have (in order of when they came out) are:

Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, A Saucerful Of Secrets, Meddle, Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, and The Division Bell.

Can someone help me figure out the albums I don't have?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-04-2007 08:16 AM

Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother

You're also missing both soundtracks, the live albums and Relics.

I think that's about it.

Surf 03-04-2007 08:20 AM

Either of the soundtrack albums (More and Obscured by Clouds) and the Zabrinski point sessions, Atom Heart Mother, Relics, Ummagumma, the live version of the wall (Is There Anybody Outthere? - I prefer it to the studio take), Music from the Filmore, P.U.L.S.E. gives a nice take on the post Waters Floyd.

The rest is the really completionist stuff. And to be honest, you've got the best ones already (Final Cut, WYWH, Darkside).

Edit: beat dammit.

Yield 03-04-2007 08:32 AM

Also, is A Collection of Great Dance Songs worth buying?

BludgeonySteve 03-04-2007 10:14 AM
Also, is A Collection of Great Dance Songs worth buying?
Not really. Maybe for completionism but it's just a collection of songs from albums you already have. And its name is false advertising.

rippa32 03-04-2007 06:21 PM

I wouldn't say false advertising. Just a bit of humour.

Yield 03-04-2007 06:24 PM

Yeah, I'm aiming for the completionism :D

MattSharpIsCool 03-04-2007 08:44 PM

I have all of their studio albums on my computer, but I dont have any of the extra stuff, like live or whatever.

Montana 03-04-2007 09:26 PM

I've got a good portion of their discography but I'm not interested in having everything. The greatest hits type stuff I don't really care for.

P.S. Ummagumma is incredible. Can't believe it has taken me this long to finally listen to it. Both discs are good, but the first one is absolute sex.

MattSharpIsCool 03-04-2007 09:53 PM

Ummagumma isn't my favorite album, but it's not bad. I love the live CD, but I'm not huge on the fragmentation of the studio CD.
