if you can try hhxplosions as well. those things are jesus in a cymbal. |
What crash would compliment an AAXplosion 17"? I kinda want something different, I love the crash, but I want a darker sounding crash for just those occasions.
Also to upgrade my Yamaha cymbals, I'm thinking of getting 13" New Beats and a 20" Dry Light Ride. Sound good to you guys? I trust your advice. Thankss |
I find my 16" K Custom fast crash goes well with my 19" AAXplosion
However i imagine a HHX power crash or HHXplosion will work as well/better. |

Thankss
my suggestions: new ride new hats worry about complementing crash in that order as far as hats, 13" NB's are great. the ride, probably wont fit in that well with the hats or crash. your better off with a ride thats a tad heavier instead start with a 20" Medium ride, and take it from there if its too defined/not defined enough. |
I did....
then again, the hats and ride that I started with were pretty good in their own right (Wuhans) |
what are you talking about froggys?
;). Honostly though, I think the hats and rides are the most important. It just doesn't make sence to have ****e hats and ride and than whore out some Oreitnal China Trash and an AAXplosion. |
Yea i was gonna upgrade my hats and ride first, which is why i had something in mind for them and I didnt have an idea on where to go with my crash.
|
what are you talking about froggys?
;).
As in I added crashes before I began replacing my hats and ride (and I still have the original ride). |
nvm.
I don't think you got my joke. But yeah I forgot what I did. |

i'm lookin' for a 14'' china, fairly trashsy, that's quick, and i can ride on it, i was thinkin' 14'' zildjian oriental china trash, but suggestions are appreciated
|
I was thinking that too.
China Kang? |
nah, kangs arent what he seems to be looking for.
14" or 16" china is what your looking for. |
Oh Okay.
Heh. |
yea, kangs are good, but they don't project too much, and helpful pointers in the right direction bobby johnny?
i'm quite taken with the 14'' HHX evo mini china, but i know that's kind of a thin cymbal, so i don't know if it could take a beating |
hey guys, im looking for a china. I play metal type music (as i lay dying. job for a cowboy, through the eyes of the dead etc.) Im looking for a nice trashy china that can be used to crash on a lot. Some chinas i was looking into are the 17inch AAXtreme, 18 inch AA china, and the 18 inch zildjian orietnal. What would be best do you think and do you have any other suggestions?
|
18" or 20" AA or AAX china.
AA for a more full sound. AAX for a brighter sound. Your choice. |
whats the difference between a AAX china and an AAXtreme china?
|
AAXtreme has a quicker decay i beleive.
|
Yeah, it's a little faster and not as trashy as the AAX or AA Chinas.
|
actually, i find that the AAXtremes put out quite a bit more trash than the standard base model Chinese's that Sabian puts out.
i usually find that the trashier the sound is, the faster. take wuhans for example, those things are mega trashy. my AA Chinese on the otherhand, its a more smooth sounding than the Xtreme models, but with a nice dirty sound at the same time. has quite a bit of sustain |
Yeah i find the AAXtreme to be really trashy. Not sure i like it.
Im all about the HHX chinas |
The regular AAX China is so smooth and un-brash it's much more like a splashy China. The 16" inch version decays rather slowly and can fill up a suprisingly large amount of space when you ride on it solo for like heavy metal beats (you don't have to put ANY power into your strokes though).

The 18" Meinl Amun is a great pick

That's true, but I still like mine. It has a certain sustain to it that sounds great in certain situations. It has also begun to sound trashier with age. |
