Thanks man. My comp's audio is fucked up though. You ought to hang around more often. You posted like 20 a day here for a while, then kinda stopped.

Oh yeah, you ought to do a routine bump of your thread a while back that listed all those bands and genres. I have bumped it a couple times I think

voiceless one 01-12-2005 09:50 AM

Howdy guys, how are we all? I am going to France soon! I have never been out of the counrty myself but I am having a sort of prigrimage to the Louvre Gallery in Paris to witness the Mona Lisa first hand, art truly fascinates me......I know I am a geek! :)

Pah. My local Cash Generator (Pawn shop-cum-general electronics) has a lovely bass in right now. Turner 5-string fretless. As played by John McVie and Dave Swift, according the sign. Of course, it was left handed, and it was £999. ( ~$2000)

Fernandes Power 01-12-2005 10:07 AM

How old are you Russ?

Lay_Down_The_Groove 01-12-2005 10:09 AM

hey, yes school cancelled again today for me :thumb:

Why??! It snowing?
How old are you Russ?
I am only 19 dude, I know it is sad to be into art and stuff at my age but I have a very intreagueing mind. I find it fascinating that Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa as an "inside joke" and not as a masterpiece. Whereas everyone looks at it and thinks it is fantastically painted etc, Da Vinci is laughing at them due to the innuendo and symbolism he injected into the painting....this is the reason why Mona Lisa is smiling.

Sorry, I went into a ramble there! There is a lot more to the story.

It's a good book, and I don't doubt a lot of his facts are true. In fact, I KNOW some of them are, as a friend of my Grandad is in one of the secret societies mentioned. Nonetheless, I wouldn't read it as gospel truth :thumb:

Rollo47 01-12-2005 10:26 AM

I'm bored as shit.

voiceless one 01-12-2005 10:28 AM

Alex, it is amazing how I can mention one fact and you immediately know what book I am reading! :) It is a very good book yes, I would recomend it to anyone. I am still blown away you know the book from one thing that I write! wow! Have you read it then?

arg, i hate you!
the ground here is covered in ice. i walk to school, normally a 5 minute walk, but with the ice it took 10-15... with icy roads, why are schools still open???
i've heard about a handful of accidents that have happened today because of the ice.

Hah! What else could it have been? Yeah, I got it for Christmas - it's an interesting read. Finished it in about two or three days - when I start reading a book I tend to read in big chunks!

The Grandad's friend I mentioned is a member of the Opus Dei.

EY! I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!

Regarding what we were planning last night. I've got some good news.

voiceless one 01-12-2005 10:55 AM

I have had it for 2 days now and I am on page 210, about a third of the way in. Is he a secret member of Opus Dei or is he proud and open about it? At this stage I know nothing about Opus Dei apart fromt hey have the backing of the Pope and they are bad! lol I am sure they are a positive organisation though. Do you remember the bit about the number PHI? 1.618 and the anatomical structure of every human being? I found that fascinating and I believe it to be true.

Russ

neal_672 01-12-2005 10:56 AM

Which book is this exactly? Sounds interesting, i may well pick myself up a copy...

Russ
Phi is true, it's commonly represented by the letter 'e'. You use it quite heavily in A-level maths. The Natural e - it does some fascinating things, even outside of the natural ratios.

I think he's fairly open about it, at least my Grandad mentioned it in an off-the-cuff way. My Grandad's a retired vicar, so he knows LOADS of people in the church, including the Catholic church.

Finish the book before you go to the Louvre! I'm having to bite down on things I shouldn't mention yet, particularly about the Opus Dei. Let's just say they aren't ALL bad.

The only thing I really didn't like about it is the walking stereotype that is Sir Leigh. It's quite painful.

The Da Vinci Code.

It's basically about the climax of a two-thousand year old war between a secret society and the Vatican, and all the imagery that's crept into every day life as a result of it.

newbieX 01-12-2005 11:05 AM

hallo everyone.

neal_672 01-12-2005 11:05 AM

Ok, i'll rent it out the library first to see if i like it. Sounds very interesting though...

Rollo47 01-12-2005 11:13 AM

Anyone else like the album Meddle by Pink Floyd?

Muadip 01-12-2005 11:14 AM

Hey

Any Dream Theater heads online?

:smoke:

voiceless one 01-12-2005 11:16 AM

Another amazing book to read is an Irish book by Joseph O'Connor called "Star Of The Sea". Not only does it document Irish history, it is also a very gripping novel with climaxes etc. I sound like a stoopid critic! But it is a very good read.

I can't seem to want to play my bass with a horrible A string buzz! Only 2 days until they hoipefully fix it though :0

Russ

neal_672 01-12-2005 11:16 AM

Yes i like the album Meddle by Floyd. Floyd = my favoruite band ever.

And yes i love Dream Theater too  :thumb:

Rollo47 01-12-2005 11:22 AM

Good. Meddle is rather unappreciated, I think. Really really really good album.

Muadip 01-12-2005 11:23 AM

what DT song would you say is the hardest Neal?

:smoke:

Rollo47 01-12-2005 11:23 AM

Anyways, night all. I'm off.

neal_672 01-12-2005 11:26 AM

DT, i'd have to say i love The Glass Prison, i've only got the Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence album mind...
