Well my HHX splash will be delivered on Monday, so screw you all. Raaaaaaaa.

Listening to Pirates of the Carribean 2 soundtrack, and the vibrations from the bass are going very slightly through my peen. Wicked.

fishbulb 07-29-2006 02:05 PM

Wow.

Win A Rabbit 07-29-2006 02:35 PM

Hey y'all. I haven't posted in a while here.

I just want to say (I'm not trying to insult anyone), the way I was raised was to expect nothing from nobody, and to earn every penny for myself. I buy my own clothes, my own books, my own instruments, everything. I'm always the one who offers to pay for supper when I go out with friends, and I'm always putting in more than my share.

I've never had an allowance, and as I've grown, I've stopped doing Christmas and birthdays.

I love living like that, it's rewarding. If someone buys you a book, you might consider reading it. But if you go do some hard labor to make money for that book, you're going to read it for all it's worth.

I'm gonna remember this.
really nice :)

Janeway 07-29-2006 04:04 PM

I don't know...
Only if it's one of the over priced books. I usually look around until I can find a $4 mass market paper back, or I'll wait until the library has the yearly sale and see if I can find it there. That's only if I want to have it. Usually I just get it from the library.
I'm not paying $14 for a book that's been around for 40 years just because it has a fancy new plush cover. And those covers suck to read with. I like to fold the pages over so I can read it at a more comfortable angle, but I feel like crap when the cover eventually falls off of one of those books.

I'm playing djembe. Or, I was. I forgot to detune it last night and the head stretched. Now I need a really hot, sunny, unhumid day to tighten it back up again.

Edit: I was only kidding when I said that. =/
I was exaggerating last night. I'm just a tad sick of being told to get a job when I'm barely out of highschool and in no financial need.

Edit 2: Well, I wasn't kidding about those covers. I hate them.

fishbulb 07-29-2006 04:10 PM

Everybody listen to the frank zappa album overnight sensation. So ****ing good and catchy.

Did my rubik's cube twice today.

Win A Rabbit 07-29-2006 04:38 PM

The book I just started reading cost me something like $32, with shipping. It's 600 pages though, and it's such a great book. I'm only 15 pages in, and I love it already.

Can anyone explain a Cajon for me?
How do they work?

Josiah 07-29-2006 04:54 PM

Normally by blackening food in addition to herb based spices, this is often done with open flame searing...

Sierra Nevada is a great beer.

Janeway 07-29-2006 04:55 PM

Is it a hard cover??

That's fricken' expensive.

Damnit. I mean the like box looking thing.
I think It's called a Cajon.

Janeway 07-29-2006 05:00 PM

[QUOTE=Berk11]Can anyone explain a Cajon for me?

It's essentially a hollow wooden box made out of multiple types of wood that the player sits on and hits in different places to create different sounds.

Scott Senior of the Duhks uses them as his primary percussion instrument.

Berk 07-29-2006 05:04 PM

And the Duhks, even thought Scott isn't really playing them extensively in these. They rule. =/

Janeway 07-29-2006 05:37 PM

I think I'm going to spend the rest of my summer listening to celtic music.
I love it but never take enough time out to listen to it.

And nobody torrents Lunasa. I might have to buy a CD.
Gah.

I'm leaving to some crappy party. Night.

Jezen 07-29-2006 05:40 PM

Nope, soft cover. I'm not a fan of hard cover books. Although I'm not a fan of the cover curling on both ends of a paperback book.

Anatak 07-29-2006 06:18 PM

Well, we obviously aren't talking about baseball any more haha... But I figured I'd throw this in. Yankees were just smoked by the Devil Rays 19-5! That made me laugh for a bit lol.
