Saving Private Ryan is my favorite movie. Never actually watched Full Metal Jacket but heard lots about it... what is it about?

Aaron 08-19-2009 10:57 PM

It's about jackets.

adb 08-19-2009 10:58 PM

nevertoolate 08-19-2009 11:00 PM

follows a squad of marines through recruiting to their part in the Vietnam war. Vincent D'Onofrio is awesome in it too. Its a Kubrick classic, it must be seen.

illmitch 08-19-2009 11:01 PM

i prefer horror movies to war movies

Si1v3RfaNg 08-19-2009 11:03 PM

Me too... but war movie are cool too. I still have yet to watch a movie that scared me like Jacob's Ladder when I was younger... anybody got some rec's for some really scary movies?

AA-12 08-19-2009 11:03 PM

you're probably thinking of Cannibal Holocaust, there were scenes of animal torture in it

adb 08-19-2009 11:19 PM

why would I want to see that

illmitch 08-19-2009 11:19 PM

i wouldn't personally see Cannibal Holocaust, animal torture sounds ****ed up

idk theres something i love about ridiculously over-the-top gore

nevertoolate 08-19-2009 11:20 PM
you're probably thinking of Cannibal Holocaust, there were scenes of animal torture in it
Si1v3RfaNg 08-19-2009 11:20 PM
you're probably thinking of Cannibal Holocaust, there were scenes of animal torture in it
Yeah that's what I'm thinking of... yeah I just watched the trailer for Suspiria... and it does look scary.

Meatplow 08-19-2009 11:21 PM

towards the end of Fernando Arrabal's Viva La Muerte is one of the most sickening things i've seen in film animal torture wise, a cow gets its neck sliced open and a woman rolls around in the blood and entrails. plus the graphic open heart surgery that closes it even makes me want to puke

illmitch 08-19-2009 11:22 PM

yeah suspiria rules, all those mid 70s-early 80s italian movies are ****ing amazing

i especially recommend The Beyond and Cannibal Apocalypse

but anyway, i have introductory swedish at 9 AM, so i'm going to bed

goodnight guys

AA-12 08-19-2009 11:24 PM

i ****ing love gross splattergore b-movie stuff, but i dont really like "serious" violent/gory movies anymore unless it's for the plot.

nevertoolate 08-19-2009 11:26 PM

I just cant handle animal related tortue/cruelty. Human torture/cruelty on the other hand.....

AA-12 08-19-2009 11:26 PM

yeah i don't even like movies where the dog gets killed and stuff. it's generally a cheap tool to mess with the viewer anyway.

masscows 08-19-2009 11:33 PM
you're probably thinking of Cannibal Holocaust, there were scenes of animal torture in it
Cannibal Holocaust didn't have any animal "torture" from what I remember. The documentary crew kills some animals for "food" on the way to the village though.
