To "shank" someone is to stab someone in the kidney. People see it used in prison shows and stuff.
My definition is way cooler. |
I've never been repped.
It's weird.
I could've sworn I repped you before. Check now. I'm really digging the Incredible String Band. I just love their Syd Barrett like lyrics and Folky vocals. Has anyone heard of them/listin to them? |
Now it says 25 points. Before that the last rep I had gotten was in January, when everybody have rep.
|
Jefferson Airplane is very good, plain and simple. The only song I would call "boring" on Surrealistic Pillow is Comin' Back to Me.
To be psychedelic, does something really have to be trippy? I've always considered there to be two sides to psychedelia, and one of them is the more poppy side. Are SPLHCB, MMT, and The Who Sell Out trippy? No, but they are psychedelic. Obviously being a San Francisco band, the Airplane's psychedelia incorporated more of a pop element than say the USA's did. Part of listening to psychedelic music for me is to enjoy a bit of the pop sound, not just listen to something that would be cool if I'm on acid. |

To Walrus, I'm downloading "Forever Changes" in .mp3
I might be able to get it up tonight, hopefully it will follow through. Wow, just as I posted that, the person on Soulseek signed off :x I'm downloading the non-bonus tracks edition. |
I want some of their stuff, but of course it can't be found in any stores around here.
I'd imagine so.
Get The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion first though. :thumb: |
Hmm, I'm interested into finding that album. Maybe I can find it :)

Jefferson Airplane don't sound psychedelic at all. (IMO) I haven't listined to them in awhile I'll bite the bullet and give them another chance tonight. Crown of Creations or Surrealistic Pillow?

Maybe next paycheck I'll invest in getting one of their albums from Amazon. Even if the music doesn't deliver, at least the cover art is cool.

I wish that I had so many albums that this becomes my buying philosophy. :( |

Since it was released in early 1967, it was one of the earlier albums of the new genre, so it can't be expected to be as psychedelic sounding as some albums that came out as that year progressed. As I said before, more poppy than many psychedelic recordings that would follow. She Has Funny Cars, D.C.B.A. - 25, 3/5 of a Mile in Ten Seconds, Embryonic Journey and White Rabbit clearly psychedelic though. Speaking of psychedelia, I'm committed to making this West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band album grow on me. |
Speaking of psychedelia, I'm committed to making this West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band album grow on me.
Good luck. :thumb:
.......:).........:) OK, I've decided to give it a chance now and so far I'm just wishing the quality of the recordings were better. :-/ NP: She has Funny Cars - Jefferson Airplane |
Yea I know, it's a daunting task. But hey, cool cover art.
|

Yuck, you like House of the Rising Sun, lepper? I think he butchers it.
I dunno, there's something about an original that just gives it a sort of "sentimental" value to me I guess. I don't mind it though. |

Oh, well then. One of my favorite songs is the Animals version and Eric Burdon has a wonderful voice and I'm really big into voice and I just never thought of that song to be fitting for Bob Dylan, just my reasoning behind that remark. |
Oh I definitely like the Animals version better, just like I like the Byrds version of Mr. Tambourine man better. But like I said, originals are special to me lol.
Hey, what do you know...NP: Bob Dylan- Mr. Tambourine Man |
House of the Rising Sun is like an old English folk song or something. And then everyone on earth did a cover of it. I think I prefer Dylan's version over the Animals. Something about the way he does it really sells the song.
|
Guess that's what would happen if someone tried to steal a Zep song hehe.
