However, I would personally suggest Costa Rica. Very peaceful, 2nd longest longivity rate, great waves and [I]very[/I] cheap. Last time I was there a beer was about 12 cents (US).

Truely amazing place to live, everything is really cheap, as Josiah said, the scenery is stunning, and the surf is killer :thumb:

Domical was my favorite place/break. Hermosa was wicked with the stadium lights at night.
Pavones was absurd on a different trip, they said it wasn't even hitting fully.. just incredible friggin wave.

Yes, I did actually. Every time I was in the country actually. Almost bought a house up on one of the hills too at one point... almost.

My favorite place to stay was at this white lady's place, don't think she is american. Her apts/hotel rooms were right on the beach, and the bottom was like the living areas and the loft had the sleeping. I remember sea shells glued to the walls in the bathroom.

The bay was great, low tide was freaky with the rocks, I saw some folks eat it hard! Brutal wipe outs on some of those, I got some brushes myself, thankfully nothing more then that.
I remember walking along the beach up to playa grande.. and crossing that river outlet, hahahaha memories.


Spent New Years of.. hmm 01 (?) at the bay. Awesome, just awesome. Fantastic memories, I remember hitting on girls I couldn't speak more then a few words too.. but I was an american surfer, and they were cute costa ricans (draw your own conclusions)

I was meant to go drink with my mates at the pub tonight but I was off college with a bad headache, so I played Halo on my new computer all day.

Sounds amazing, I only spent two days in Tamarindo, and 11 in the country in total. I was with my college on a Geography 'field trip', spent the days at Tamarindo surfing all day, and drinking all night haha. Tried surfing on the Carribean side aswell, but there were some nasty rip currents where we were.

I remember being in the street in Tamarindo, and having a guy try to sell me a swing seat for 'sex positions baby, yeah!' (in goofy Costa Rican accent). Met a couple of rather nice American girls out there, and spent the evening with them at the hot springs at Arenal Volcano. Cool people they were.
