Yesterday was my birthday, I got lots of cool stuff, including..
A new guitar..some like really tight epiphone thing..whatever it is a lot better then my old squier haha. Pink Floyd- Live in Pompeii A bunch of movies like donnie darko and stuff. Pixies- Live at the BBC A Cream shirt and money. Good Birthday... I really like live in pompeii..awesome dvd. The directors cut is much to cheesy though. |
If anyone wants anything, I've pretty much got nothing to do all day today. I'm going to update my list on RYM now.
Trading thru AIM? is your rym account your username -because I vaguely remember you on my compatability list for a really long time on that site. My Music I really wanna try some of ELOs albums. I heard Dire on High on the way home and i cant get it out of my head! |
Happy Birthday yesterday!
I don't think I've ever seen a Cream shirt which is odd cause they are pretty popular... Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies. |
Happy Birthday yesterday!
I don't think I've ever seen a Cream shirt which is odd cause they are pretty popular... Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies.
Yeah my sister got it for me, and she says she got it at Hot Topic =/. I have never seen one in stores before either so I was pleasently surprised.. I didn't even expect her to know who cream were (she likes green day, the bravery, and all that jazz) but apparently she said she went into my room and found a couple of cream CD's, and one day i was playing Strange Brew and she asked me what it was and I said cream..so there ya go. haha im rambling.. and Donnie Darko is Excellent indeed. |
I never see cream shirts here either, not even in hot topic. My sister got me a gift card to that store for my birthday a month ago, but i havent been there yet since.
I love using my birthday money on such random stuff :) |
I havent officially ordered the tix yet, but my friends getting them with the american express presale today or tomorrow, about $60 or $70. Probably some ****ty seats behind the stage, but who doesnt wanna see clapton's ass while he's soloing to white room?
That's the problem. I've heard the stage at MSG is like a huge wall in the back, so if you get tickets behind the stage, you won't be able to see the band at all. I'm waiting until 9 O'clock Monday, when I hope seats in front of the stage will be avaliable. I think I have pretty good chances of getting tickets though, and the traveling won't be a problem, 45 minute train ride then taxi or Subway, and I'm there. I can't wait until Monday. I need to see Cream. Happy brithday Flaminghotchino. Is the shirt your sister got you at Hot Topic black with a small picture of them on the front? If so, I've seen it at Hot Topic, but they didn't have it in my size. If I'm able to see Cream live, I'm definitely picking up a shirt there. |
I hate the people at hot topic, but they are about the only place,at least around here, that have band shirts.Next time i go,i think im goin to get a clapton shirt.

I hate the store, but it's the only place I've been to that has some nice selection. A lot of the shirts are more trendy or cheesy than I'd like them to be, but they always have a few good shirts. |
The workers are cool to me.i dont hate them, one of the chicks there hooked me up with a free shirt of my choice because her boyfriend was in he band of the shirt i had on(local band)

Most the people that work in the one near me are all good charlotte, green day fans, and are very nosey.

Usually, it's some pop-punk like that or really bad metal playing in the store, so that's annoying, but at the store near me, the workers are just rude and mean. They try not to let you try on shirts first and always try to get you to hurry up and get out of the store. Last year though, I was visiting my grandmother in Houston, Texas, and my brother and I went to a Hot Topic there and the people were nice, so I guess it varies. People seem to be much nicer down there in general though. Doesn't Schyma live somewhere in Texas? |
Well, one day,I went in there and this guy was really nice.i guess it varies on the worker and place, but thats only nice one ive ever had here.
|
OK, I guess I'll do one of these tonight, if not more. Is there any of these everyone would want so I can send to the whole list?
I'd be interested in the Coldplay and Black Crowes. Already have Blonde on Blonde and Yellow Submarine though. np- Get Back |

Me too! Whoo hoo go Litchfield Country |
Just getting into Iced Earth and Rush, dont know if you class Iced Earth as classic rock but anyway I thought it would be better the point of my post in her than the Music Recommendation thread because this was nearer to my cursor.
Can you recommend me some of their songs I have only heard a few Iced Earth songs and one Rush song: Rush - Spirit Of The Radio Iced Earth - Melancholy, Slednecks. |
In my opinion the whole 2112 Rush album is fantastic. If you have AIM I can send you some songs or an album.
AIM: Jacaran just add me if your interested. I've never heard of Iced Earth. |
Houston, TX
I said I quit smoking to my friends a few days ago and they just laughed at me. 2 days go by and I'm sitting on a corner singing "Waiting for the Man" in my head waiting for my dealrer to show up. .......:upset: I am weak!!!
Hey man, I told myself I was going to quit smoking up on weekdays because of school, but I only lasted two days. I could probably have done it, but every night my friends call me and tell me about the good weed that _____ (insert a dealers name here) has. I can't help it. I've had a fun week though. Last night we went to a party, and it was probably the best part I've been to in months. It was a stoner party so it was nice and laid back, there were some guitars...a lot of people played metal but I showed them what it was all about. A lot of people told me I'm the trippiest guitarist they've ever heard...I just told them to listen to more psychedelic music. One thing I've noticed about metal guitarists is that they never seem to just improvise. They are always playing the newest coolest metal song, I've never heard a shred guitarist just improvise a solo in front of me, I've only heard it in the Guitar Forums. I only play my own music unless someone specificaly asks me to play a song they like. Except for when I play bluegrass. edit- Iced Earth is like powermetal, not classic rock. Unless I'm thinking of a different band. I'd say Iron Maiden are more classic rock than Iced Earth. Although I think Iced Earth is really good in terms of metal bands. |
Iced Earth are power metal. I'd recommend Valley Forge in particular, as the album it's from is all I've heard of them.
I've got a lot of friends who are power metal nuts, so I hear a lot of Iced Earth when I'm with them. I never know the names of the songs/albums though, but they are usually good songs. Alright I know some of you don't like Dylan and the Dead (I recall Illmatic had some unpleasant words to say about it), but someone must agree that Slow Train Coming, Queen Jane Approximately and Gotta Serve Somebody sound better on that album than on their studio albums. |
Tomorrow is Hendrix's 35th Death Anniversary. I'm gonna play all my Hendrix albums tonight and tomorrow.

I agree with Gotta Serve Somebody. I really like Dylan and the Dead. I'm pretty sure JPJ really likes it as well. It's not as bad as most people say. Dylan Live '75 is one of the best live albums that I've ever heard though. I'll upload and send that out if anyone's interested. |
I don't own Live '75 and I have been looking for it everywhere. If you could send it to me I would absolutely love you and I'll shower you with praise and thanks.

Is m4a okay? Or should I try converting it to mp3? |
Is m4a okay? Or should I try converting it to mp3?
Please please please convert it to mp3, but if it is too much of a hassle then I suppose you could send it to me in m4a and I'll try and figure out how to play m4a's....people always tell me various things to download that can play/convert m4a's and I've tried them all but my computer doesn't like to cooperate with me and my music. |

Do you know how to convert to mp3? I remember somebody tried explaining it to me, but it just completely confused me. If I load the songs onto Musicmatch, would that make them mp3s? |

That converts everything to m4a, but I've figured out how to convert to mp3 with it. Jacaranda explained it like 10 pages ago. I was reading back in the thread to find everyone's e-mail address, and I found his post where he explained how to do it. I'm almost done converting the 1st disc. |
