Plus Cattle Decapitation blows and ad least Decapitated have one really impressive album.

I liked CD somewhat, don't hate.

I really enjoy cattle decap, besides the fact that I can't tell their songs apart...
|

Yeah CD is terrible. Decapitated has been good, I don't get why Winds Of Creation is considered their only good album. Albeit their new singer is sort of weak, I still like the music, it's solid generic DM. |

Yeah its their only album that is consistent all the way through.
|
So what? The other albums have good tracks too...
I admit Winds is their best one though. |
I like Decapitated and Cattle Decapitation.

I see, well their a lot better than Behemoth. :p |
ICB, no need to further entrench your reputation as a hyper kid who listens to metal for shits'n'giggles.
Now heiling the best later-period death metal album. Bastard son, you spread your arms to save us from ourselves This weak attempt has failed us so, just like your fabled father above This shadow you've cast upon our world still conceals the light So pick a God, for there's no one left that can save us from our end |
Best later-period death metal album?
|
Immolation ftw
|
Immolation is great and very consistent.
|
Hey, isn't Slipknot great?
MWAHAHAHA! j/k... they are cool, but you guys should get lives and stop arguing about bands whos names are various forms of strangulation, mutilation, cancer of the brain, decapitation, mastication, flatulation, gouging eyes, being insane, immortal immolation of cattle defecation, living in a world that God has shunned, all you guys are little "n00b" girls that just got p'wned... go listen to Bloodbath. whatever, that was pretty lame, but you're argument was inspiring |

LOL THATS EXACTLY WHY I LISTEN TO METAL :-* And second of all, no. Just no.
Hey, isn't Slipknot great? not serious, or high... just making fun of these asswipes who are basically doing the argument about "cattle decapitation is better than decapitated" "no decapitated is better than cattle decapitation" "hey, you know who else is cool? (fill in completely generic death/black/grindcore metal band here)"
the first part of that gay little poem making fun of death/black/grindcore band names was ripped from a classic metal song btw, "Strangulation, Mutilation, Cancer of the brain" is the first lyrics from one of the songs on Reign In Blood, by the band that INVENTED extreme metal, SLAYER... you know what song I'm talkin' about right? |

you're criticizing people for talking about cattle decap, decapition, etc just to bring up the most generic of all metal bands? |

I was listening to Sceptic earlier this morning and I realized it's like Gorod except the drums are actually good.
Still, repetitive and lacking force. |
ok, luc214, you're 16, right? and rattlehead, you're 17? which means you guys have been listenin' to metal for what, like, 20 minutes now? I'm sure you're going to tell me about how "you've been listening to metal since you were like 5 pears old" or whetever, but that don't even matter, 'cuz it's B.S.
luc, you said that "Slayer had nothing to do with the pioneering of death metal. That was Autopsy and Death." except I never said they pioneered death metal, I said "they invented extreme metal" meaning that they pushed the boundaries of "thrash metal" to the point that it was so much faster and lyrically darker than most other thrash bands, causing it to be almost to the point where you couldn't call it thrash (but it was, by todays definition). If Chuck Schuldiner were still alive, and you could ask him about what metal bands prompted him to start writing his metal, Slayer probably would've been pretty high on his list of influences, meaning that Slayer (among others, like Venom, early Celtic Frost and Black Sabbath) were a CATALYST for what was to become "death metal" The lyrical content between Slayer and most death metal bands today really isn't all that different, except that death metal guys do it in a lower voice than Tom did... and if you look at most every other metal band in the '80's, almost nobody sang in a low pitched voice, at least until about '88 with the onset of bands like Morbid Angel, Death, Terrorizer, Napalm Death, followed by Obituary, Cannibal, Deicide, etc at the break of '90. So, in a way, Slayer did in fact have something to do with the pioneering of death metal, because they opened the doors for violent and Satanic lyrics and imagery that their followers continued to explore and expand upon, not to mention the over the top usage of tremolo picking and hyper fast double bass. This part of my monologue leaks into what rattlehead up there said how Slayer are "the most generic of all metal bands." I will go ahead and say that I've been pretty damn disappointed with the last couple Slayer records, and I have my own reasons for that, but, to say that Slayer is a generic metal band shows your lack of intelligence as far as the IMPACT that their first five records had on the world of heavy metal. Sure, by today's standards, even old Slayer sounds pretty damn weak because people have built upon that style and perfected that type of sound so many times. But a couple things should be considered- one being advancements in technology allowing amps and guitars (especially the pickups) being built to better suit extreme playing as well as recording technology that opened the field of sound to give records A LOT more bass than they used to before the mid-90's. If Slayer re-recorded Reign... today, all the notes could be the same, but the notes would sound different because of the equipment being used (same difference as Dimmu's Stormblast original vs. re-recorded. same music, different tonal qualities). Anyway, you have to respect Slayer for the impact that they had on people to pick up guitars and expand upon the sounds they'd already heard and make the music that you apparently worship, without giving regards to the people that made it more of a possibility to happen in the first place. BTW, rattlehead, I wasn't criticizing anyone for talking about any bands, but making fun of them for arguing about which of them were "better" without any reasons as to why they had their opinions in the first place. in in response to jcs497's comment that I "....have absolutely no idea what (I'm) talking about...", that seems kind of moronic after reading this post, doesn't it? so, in review, my points were: 1. Slayer do have something to do with the "pioneering of death metal" because they pretty much laid the groundwork for it. 2. Slayer are just as "generic" as all those who had their influence and followed in their footsteps. 3. Technology has had a hand in making records hit harder than they used to, thereby making something sound "heavier" and more "extreme" and finally, 4. Respect your roots. Kinda like how you should be thankful your Mom decided to let your Dad bust his nut inside of her on that particular night in 1990 when you're were conceived, rather than do the responsible thing and swallowing his nut, thus preventing your little bastard *** from joining the human race. In fact, you need to go give your mom a hug right now, and thank her for the computer that you're using right now, the clothes on your back, the rides to school, the lunch she packed for you and everything else your ungrateful little *** has. You could also man up, give your dad a firm handshake and tell him you respect him and everything he's done for you. Now, go ahead and respond and seize the opportunity for you to portray yourselves as the jackasses you really are... |
such an essay was pretty unnecessary.
Also I don't know what kind of response you expected because you basically talked down to death metal in general in an earlier post. |
because they opened the doors for violent and Satanic lyrics
misconception: death metal isn't about satanism refer to: black metal but I agree on Slayer being good musics, the first albums weren't that awesome, but still...
3. Technology has had a hand in making records hit harder than they used to, thereby making something sound "heavier" and more "extreme"
Hardly. Digital music actually tends to focus too much in "making things harder" by just digitally amplify the input signals (vox, bass, guitar, etc), but those who actually know about making a good mix tend to pay attention to the natural accentuation of sounds (mostly seen on drums, say drum bass being lower but still listenable, snare being higher on the mix to accentuate it, etc.) rather than make it sound "aggresive". |
