I'm pretty sure I'm getting a record player for Christmas. It's all I've asked for all year.
I asked for one too, but i'm not sure if my parents got me one. I'm getting an iPod though, so it doesnt matter. But i'm going to buy one myself soon.

cbmartinez 12-21-2004 09:16 PM
LLBNF are getting back together!
I didn't know they were broken up. :p

Nevertheless, great news. I'm really into them.
My last day isn't until Thursday. I can't wait until i'm out.
Same.
I read that City of Caterpillar and Mogwai sound like them. They're also coming here the next month, it sucks that it's a Thursday, but I might go. The only band I checked out so far was A Day in Black and White, and I didn't really like them. I'm really picky with this type of stuff I guess.
Who's coming here? Love Lost?

CONNER_NWHC 12-21-2004 09:17 PM

How much do record player cost and where can you get them? You also need to buy speaker right?

40 oz 2 freedom 12-21-2004 09:20 PM

I think they cost between $50-100. Some of them come with speakers, some you have to buy them.

CONNER_NWHC 12-21-2004 09:32 PM

mostly ordered from the internet or is the stores that carry them?

40 oz 2 freedom 12-21-2004 09:33 PM

I'm sure you can go either way.

CONNER_NWHC 12-21-2004 09:34 PM

Im gunna look into this because records are alot cheaper. and Cool to collect.

Envy is coming here with Malady, Off Minor, and Welcome the Plague Year.

AARON27 12-21-2004 10:50 PM

I saw Off Minor in July, they were excellent.

Envy. And they're only doing the East Coast. Nevermind the West Coast is ON THEIR WAY HOME TO FREAKING JAPAN!!!!

:upset:
Envy is coming here with Malady, Off Minor, and Welcome the Plague Year.
I'm telling you dude... that is not a show to miss. Thursday or not. I promise you it will be worth it. Envy is from Japan and never ever plays here ever. Off Minor and WTTPY are outstanding bands in their own right too. Malady are good too, but they're more rock based. They have members of Pg. 99 and City of Caterpillar.

capri sun junkie 12-22-2004 02:15 PM

How was Casey Jones?

Let's Chop Cats! 12-22-2004 02:16 PM

Awesome.

cbmartinez 12-22-2004 02:17 PM

I'm most definitely going to that Envy show. Where is it at? Off Minor is ex-Saetia members, I believe.

Let's Chop Cats! 12-22-2004 02:19 PM

I reviewed it in the Gig Diary thread. Just a basic view on each band.

Shtein 12-22-2004 02:25 PM
Good, this thread will probably do more good in here than R/M. Less morons and newbs.
NewKindofArmy03 12-22-2004 08:42 PM

Cool, i'll probably end up convincing my mom to let me go. I hear Envy are amazing live, or at least that's what I read. What's their best cd? I'll probably pick one up over break.

Hrsta 12-22-2004 08:55 PM

Eurgh.. what the **** is with all these 'CORE' genres..

Meh. Anyways, you guys should listen to Earn Your Keep. Hometown boys, I'm going to go see them tomorrow. They sound kinda like Shai Hulud and Strongarm. They usually do a pretty awesome Minor Threat cover live too. http://www.myspace.com/earnyourkeep

BuddyBigsby 12-23-2004 02:24 AM

Hey by the way guys, my name is Scott.

CONNER_NWHC 12-23-2004 02:25 AM

Yo Scott.

The_shotgun_message 12-23-2004 03:02 AM

What would a band like Norma Jean(I would say they are Metalcore or noise core) or Beloved (US)(Iwould say they are melodic hardcore) be considered.
Ps. YE i know there both christian bands, I am not christian but religion in music means nothing to me. Also do not bash me if my classifications are not "correct" this is just how I PERSONALY would classify them.

BuddyBigsby 12-23-2004 03:06 AM

Norma Jean's basically metalcore.

Beloved are really more of a melodic rock band.

The_shotgun_message 12-23-2004 03:20 AM

I duno i would say Beloved are heavier than just melodic rock cause they have screaming and some excellent three way guitar parts.

CONNER_NWHC 12-23-2004 03:27 AM

triple post you retard.

The_shotgun_message 12-23-2004 03:33 AM

What the hell I pressed once and then it didnt work and I didnt think it had posted but it obviously did SORRY

we.are.the.few 12-23-2004 07:48 AM

What would you classify these bands as:

Between the Buried and me
Shai Hulud
Dillinger Escape Plan
Dead to fall

Let's Chop Cats! 12-23-2004 11:58 AM

Metalcore
Hardcore
Tech Metal/ I some sort of metal
Metalcore

cbmartinez 12-23-2004 12:35 PM

BTBAM are somewhere in between tech metal and metalcore.
Cool, i'll probably end up convincing my mom to let me go. I hear Envy are amazing live, or at least that's what I read. What's their best cd? I'll probably pick one up over break.
They only have one, Dead Sinking Story. It was released on Level-Plane. It's pretty fantastic.
