listened to a weird band today. ga'an. it's like choral chanting with casio synths (playing awesome melodies nonetheless, not gay happy ones that you might think of when i say casio sounding) over what i can only describe as prog rock, zeuhl, power metal, and doom metal all mixed together. and it's all wrapped up in an incredibly lofi production, pretty sure it's only out on cassette.

physically, yes they have it for free on their label's website, though. I agree with you about the genre, they are hard to categorize. http://www.recordsonribs.com I like a lot of stuff from this label |
no you didn't listen or no you actually rated it
|
truth be told I can't remember
I do know every release you've sent me i've listened to |
Aurora, October, Kshatriya, Ars Regia are their best albums.
Kshatriya is really good Aurora though, is possibly one of the worst things i've heard recently. hope their later albums aren't all like that |

figured out a close approximation of that Nitzer Ebb bass sound 2 or 3 different saw waves, low pass with no resonance, short attack, mid decay, no sustain, distort and compress so yeah Chris lets start a Nitzer Ebb clone |

chris turning things into pop art
i listened to a few songs, forgot what releases tho, need to give it another listen. do you need some PE recs?
along with what bitchfork suggested, Mectpyo Blut and Violichte are awesome http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Maurizio-Bianchi/16775/ his discography is just ridiculous though |
i've come to the realization that mectpyo blut isn't all that good.
but i'd rather you like that than prurient 8) |
you are the worst kind of teenage elitist
listening to The Killing Tide by Sol Invictus a lot recently, probably one of his better releases. have trouble distinguishing albums from one another a lot of the time, probably the weakest of the british neofolk bands idk Fire + Ice is probably my favourite of those groups |
k lets talk about real industrial
been listening to mad noise unit, skinny puppy and FIlter |
prurient has some good power electronics (good not great). that dark ambient album was cool. he just needs to shove the harsh noise up his ass.
|
i just realized that nepenthe (user) was nepenthe (artist)
... and meatplow had told me beforehand too. 8( |
haven't heard a lot of Fernow's stuff actually
I love Shipwrecker's Diary and Black Vase though, idk what you are on about and yeah, Nepenthe is pretty good :p
FIlter
do you wanna take my picture? |
i try
|
only true rivetheads appreciates the subtle industrial complexity of Take a Picture
|
i really liked Dominicks PE project called, River Magic. fucking excellent stuff there
|
Black Vase is Dominick's best work. And Cold Cave, oh, how much I love Cold Cave.
|
oh cold cave is great, never heard black vase
|
only true rivetheads appreciates the subtle industrial complexity of Take a Picture
song is good, rivetheads and cybergoths are silly though in fact I don't even know why I like industrial music a lot of the time, the subcultures associated are awful, and a lot of the themes dealt with and the technological aesthetic is something I tend to avoid elsewhere it's gotta be old, shitty and analogue and deal with subversive burroughs-esque themes or IT'S JUST NOT REAL DAMMIT kind of like watching watching Videodrome as opposed to say, the remake of Speed Racer |
it's gotta be old, shitty and analogue and deal with subversive burroughs-esque themes or IT'S JUST NOT REAL DAMMIT
yeah this is about what i'll accept as far as honest industrial as far as post-industrial goes there's more variables involved Title of Record is a mandatory release for any one who listens to industrial |
I might listen to it
I do like that one song |
