It's a shame it never ended up on the wall or Final Cut. I might even get the Final Cut CD for it, as my LP isnt in the greatest condition.

magicbus 02-27-2007 09:42 PM

It's a shame I'm not into Roger's solo career. I miss this thread :(

MattSharpIsCool 02-27-2007 10:06 PM

If it's on the Final Cut I might need to grab that. I've got the LP also, and it's in decent shape, but I really like that damn song.

Montana 02-27-2007 10:25 PM

My copy of The Final Cut doesn't have When the Tigers Broke Free.

I wonder if there were ever a movie soundtrack released for The Wall. It would be neat to have if there were one. Personally, I liked Bob Geldof's shrill renditions. :p

MattSharpIsCool 02-27-2007 10:26 PM

I wasn't a huge fan of Bob's singing in that movie.

Dr. Jake Destructo 02-27-2007 10:32 PM

There was a soundtrack for it actually. I also scoffed at that, but then I realized that there was some differences in the album and the movie..Obviously. :p

rippa32 02-27-2007 11:30 PM

I didn't mind Bob's singing, but I didn't like his screaming on the In The Flesh reprise. Also When The Tiger's Broke Free is apparently on The Final Cut remaster.

Yep and it fits quite seamlessly.

I like Young Lust in the movie. When the groupie goes down on the security guard the look on his face is ****ing priceless

Tits and arse ftw :smoke:

MattSharpIsCool 02-28-2007 02:14 AM

Haha ya that security guard was one of my favorite characters.

rippa32 02-28-2007 03:10 AM

Lol yeah got a laugh when I showed it to a friend too.

Yeah, I don't have the copy of The Final Cut with When The Tigers Broke Free either.

On Is There Anybody Out There?, they do have the altered version of Empty Spaces and What Shall We Do Now? and also The Last Few Bricks. It doesn't have the altered lyrics to Mother though.

MattSharpIsCool 02-28-2007 07:08 PM

I just picked up my bass for the first time in a month or so, started messing around on it, and noticed the way I play has changed completely. I can't even play basslines like I used to, they're all in another scale I didn't even know I knew. This is kind of strange...I've been listening to too much Floyd or something apparently.

rippa32 03-01-2007 11:23 PM

I got Ummagumma on vinyl :chug: . So far Iv'e only heard the live album but it sounds great, I love the performance of Careful With That Axe Eugene. Something I was curious about though was I was looking at the tracklist of Disc 2 and noticed everyone got credited for the stuff they wrote, except Nick who doesnt have any credit next to his. What's going on there?

CaptainWaits 03-01-2007 11:28 PM

I have that one one Vinyl too, and I found a wicked deal for it on CD. "Set the Controls to the Heart of the Sun" is my favorite on Ummagumma, and it's great played live. That's probably still at the top for my favorite PF song...

rippa32 03-01-2007 11:36 PM

Is that first disc live? I always thought it was and you can hear clapping but the quality is very good for a live recording.

Check at the bottom. On the CD it lists his three songs, and has a credit at the end, instead of after each song.

Riva 03-02-2007 12:19 AM

Well, there was also some annoyance from the band, because Nick didn't really do much of the composing for his songs, or something similar?

Can't quite remember.

MattSharpIsCool 03-02-2007 12:25 AM

Not like there's exactly a lot of composition going on. It's just a bunch of drums being hit in a seemingly random order. Oh and there's a flute.

Riva 03-02-2007 12:44 AM

Very true. The flutist is either his wife or some random studio guy, I think.

MattSharpIsCool 03-02-2007 01:33 AM

Ya it's his wife, I remember reading that in Inside Out I think.

rippa32 03-02-2007 02:56 AM

Well I know its only drums, but I think its worthy of wrting credit. (Ive listened to it now). What annoyed me though was that damn loop that kept coming up. Oh and I wasn't too impressed with the random noises from Rick and Pict grooving one.

Riva 03-02-2007 04:25 AM

That's a Roger song...

Rick wrote the Sysphus section.

rippa32 03-02-2007 06:43 AM

Yer I know I was saying I didn't like either of them. Well second half of Sysphus wasn't too bad.

Riva 03-02-2007 06:50 AM

Oh ok. I think the whole album was the band at their most experimental, before they pulled it all together into Meddle's space rock sound.

rippa32 03-02-2007 07:14 AM

Oh, was it before Meddle? Well that was quite a jump.

Dragon_Prince 03-02-2007 09:20 AM

No it was before Soundtrack for More and that was before Atom Heart Mother, after that they made Meddle ...

Apocalyptic Raids 03-02-2007 09:40 AM

and I think Obscured By Clouds is in there somewhere, or was that after Meddle?

Dragon_Prince 03-02-2007 10:09 AM

That was in between Meddle and DSOTM

rippa32 03-02-2007 05:33 PM

Was that one of those movie soundtracks?

CaptainWaits 03-02-2007 05:34 PM

hmmm. I always just assumed it was live. I don't for sure...
