My bassist writes pretty but simple piano music. It's weird.

We use him as a drummer, anyway. Ha!
Bassists almost always play piano too, I've decided. For whatever reason.

Nick: My bro was like that and then I started just stealing his CDs and replacing them with my recommendations. He's better now.

Surtr 09-10-2006 07:59 PM

You've obviously met Pier, the riff master. He's insane. He can write a bass riff (Slapping) in 10 seconds out of no where that'll make you shit yourself. He's like Vic Wooten..Only not as fast :p

Vince: Oh I suck imo, but at least I can keep the beat. I'm more of an Aux. Percussion kinda' guy. In my band atm I play drum kit, but I've been writing alot of Keyboard parts and ****. And stuff with Timpini in it, just for fun, despite not having Timpini :p

cobert 09-10-2006 07:59 PM

Back from the showwwwa.

Eliminator 09-10-2006 07:59 PM

he only likes metal and refuses to listen to anything else

so really he deserves to die

I doubt you suck. But I've never heard you play so eh.

I love playing kit. I've been working a lot of fun ride patterns since I've been getting into Jazz. They work great in all styles though.

They got bored with only four strings, so they went with the one with the most wires possible.

My bassist's fretless is fun to play. Flatwound strings are oooooh.

Eliminator 09-10-2006 08:02 PM

eliminator must depart oh noes everyone will cry i'm selfish

I want a bassist who plays harp :(

I've only played fretless in shops.

I'm startin' to get into Jazz. I'm in my school's Jazz Studies class now, so I'm gettin' into that stuff. My problem is I can never seem to really have anything cool to play. Everything I know is really all these basic beats. It's all either like, a basic Punk Beat with Variations, a basic Rock Beat with variations, or a fun techno/disco style beat with Variations.

/Cries because the Pop-Punk forum dog is leaving :(

B 09-10-2006 08:04 PM

The coolest people play violin.

Storm In A Teacup 09-10-2006 08:05 PM

I'm so close to finishing my Early November review I can smell it.

dance music beats are fun. accents on the off beat sounds cool if you do it right.

jazz ride patterns rock. listen to big band style jazz and just focus on the ride patterns.

punk beats are rock beats at faster tempos :p

I HATED that 3 Disc album so much.

/Waits to be killed by everyone.

It was SO bland and SO boring. It was a bloody piece of generic shit.

Vince: EXACTLY! See! 2 of my 3 beats ARE THE SAME! :( :p

Storm In A Teacup 09-10-2006 08:08 PM

GTFO RIGHT NOW!!!!!

MattSharpIsCool 09-10-2006 08:09 PM

Well.... the early november is pretty generic in general.

Wow you suck at liking good music man :(

But yeah, it's alright..everyone who plays rock/metal/punk tends to play a variation on the basic beat. it's all about making beats fit the music, not being technical.

Yeah, it sounds fine with music, because I can get stuff going with that and it sounds pretty sweet. But it's when people are like "Comon' man, show us how good you are" and I play and they're like.."Uhhh.." and I'm like..:(

MattSharpIsCool 09-10-2006 08:12 PM

Thats a big reason so many people like older blink 182 songs. The drum beats werent as complicated, but they fit the music so much better than the later stuff.

people love fast, just play fast.

or if they're musicians, play a nice afro cuban or funk beat or something.

Boring? Sure. Bland? Sure.

But generic? No. Not at all.

Unless they copied all those other bands with random Jazz songs, atmospheric songs, acoustic songs, happy songs, sad songs, and banjos, and trumpets on their album.

I saw The Early November live. They were terrible.

Surtr 09-10-2006 08:20 PM

I told you weeks ago to upload a BG's album. Do it.

Respond to my post first.

They are bad live. I was at the front when I saw them and the crowd was twenty times wilder than the most brutal hardcore show. It was FU.CKING CRAZY!
